48 shots and only 1 went in
that's when you know there's gonna be problem come playoff time

Posted by elFreak on Apr-08-2009 05:53:

the problem is that our best player is injured and the pp man is too.

we are fucked and have no hope, such is life but at least i have a big stack of new records

sad truth....

Posted by bamski on Apr-09-2009 06:02:

What about all those points? Especiaaly the assists, he should be a wizard, no?

Or does he choke in big games and take the points from the easier ones?

both our teams suck.

Yeah I know

I was more shocked than anything else

Posted by elFreak on Apr-09-2009 13:55:

all we need is one point, but if new york or florida loses it is over and we are in without winning. Either way at this point it is just prolonging the wounded animal status.

Posted by sean5 on Apr-09-2009 23:16:

hahaha talk about bad officiating! i guess the league wants the rangers in the playoffs

Posted by sean5 on Apr-10-2009 01:54:

rangers vs canucks in a rematch for the stanley 15 years later!!! (herad it here first)

Posted by winston on Apr-10-2009 02:49:

great to see the devils up there...

Posted by elFreak on Apr-10-2009 04:06:

lol in the playoffs with a loss, we fucking suck.

Posted by L.E.N. on Apr-10-2009 05:25:

Sharks on pace to choke again.

Posted by elFreak on Apr-13-2009 08:48:

i am excited to face Boston. We are not winning the cup this year, but if we beat them it makes it all worthwhile. IF....not hoping too much, but it will be entertaining. The east has awesome match ups, and go blues in the west! (not a chance in hell but i love underdogs.)

Posted by bamski on Apr-14-2009 07:50:

Ducks and Blue Jackets don't have a chance, same goes for NYR.

PHI - PIT is going to be an awesome series, almost as interesting as MTL - BOS. I'm not too confident about Pittsburgh, it could go either way. I feel that Le Habs have a fighting chance to drop BOS, which would be nice

HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA

have you watched any hockey lately? the sharks have been sucking fucking balls and so have the red wings. also you think that montreal has a chance against boston when boston has dominated them practically all season? montreal has no goaltending so they HAVE NO CHANCE against boston. shit, montreal barely beat them last year as a 1 seed LOLOLOL. as for the rangers, it's clear you haven't seen them play with torts at the helm and it's clear you haven't watched them play during the season against the caps. i'm just curious how you have the rangers having no shot when JOSE THEODORE is the caps goalie? he's one of the worst goalies in the league and has been ever since he stopped using PEDs.

I went to see the pens vs habs game on saturday, and they are for real. They are the hottest team in the league right now, before the all star game they were in 10th place, and now they have home ice advantage. Since they changed coach and got gonchar back they have been unstoppable. If Garon is not there robbing games for Philly, i take pens in 5.

the sharks and wings also took their feet off of the pedal and rested players near the end of the year. They had nothing to play for. Throw out the regular season now, it means nothing anymore. I don't think the habs will beat the bruins( i hope so though), but it will be a long series (6 or 7 games) and with the rivalry and the fans it is the most entertaining match up of round one in the east imo. Carey Price has made 40 + saves in his last 3 starts (in losses but still) and has looked sharp. (he has been hurt most of the year). Markov is coming back early , and that will help. The last time the bruins finished first and played the habs in the first round, they lost badly in 5 games. The truth is anyone has a shot in the playoffs.

If you look at the last bruins vs habs game, it was a total brawl. The habs came back from a 3-0 defecit to lose 5 -4 in overtime over a brutal turnover by maxim lapierre. They showed Boston that they were not going to be an easy team to play, and all this without their best player.

Like i said i think Boston has a definite edge, but i still would not put all of my money on them yet. Did anyone think Carolina was going to win the cup when they did? The pressure is on Boston, as no one expects the habs to win. That could play a big part in making this series awesome. It will be bloody, old school hockey, and at the very least we will get to see that ape on skates laraque fight chara.

Posted by sean5 on Apr-14-2009 18:58:

regular season does mean something going into the playoffs. the facts are that detroit and san jose have both been playing badly and it doesn't bode well for them going in. carolina was an anomoly when they won the cup because they got extremely fortunate with injuries to opposing teams. the real team to look at from that year was the oilers who surged just to make the playoffs and then rolled right to the cup. if you want to factor in extreme circumstances that's fine i guess, but you won't see me basing opinions on a team losing their entire defensive core or a hot goalie catching a serious injury.

det vs cbj - detroit has been struggling to score and they are going up against one of the best goalies in the league. also det goaltending has been questionable as both goalies were terrible during the season. the bjs have been able to beat the red wings (and beat them bad i might add) during the season so unless playoff experience/jitters (choking) come in to play, it will be a close series.

sj vs anh - this is a bad matchup for sj because sj is notorious for being a weak team in terms of physical play. the team isn't much different from last year and the team last year definitely got pushed around by cgy and dal. sj has been struggling, their top players are most likely not 100%, they have a bad history, they have tons of pressure, etc. the series will definitely be close especially since anh has been surging lately. how can you go against pronger in the playoffs???

mtl vs bos - this matchup basically goes like this: boston can play a wide open style of hockey because they don't have to worry about giving up goals. they don't have to worry becasue the mtl goalies are both awful ESPECIALLY COME PLAYOFF TIME. what's the last thing carey remembers? rj umberger lighting him up gretzky style. the mtl team is really overrated and i think most of the fans think they are a much better team than they are since they were able to stuff the all star votes in, but in reality it won't help. kovalev and the other has beens decided to come alive in the last week of the season, but it won't help much as they aren't playing the islanders or the thrashers. boston is better offensively, better defensively, and better in goal.

was vs nyr - series depends on whether the rangers take a ton of penalties or not. last few times they've played the caps, they were able to get under their skin (and that was without avery). caps are young and have little experience in the playoffs not to mention their goaltending and even their d is shaky. last year ovechkin was clenching his stick and struggled against the flyers. the guy takes 25% of the caps shots per game roughly so if that happens again, they could be in trouble. the rangers have no powerplay, but have been able to score lately and they should have no problem against theodore who is one of the worst goalies in the league. i also should mention that lundqvist has been playing some of his best hockey to end the season ESPECIALLY THE LAST TWO GAMES AGAINST THE FLYERS. except for ovechkin, the caps are a weak team in terms of physical play, so if they matchup staal against ovechkin and he does a decent job they should be able to win. the key is to keep the game 5v5 for the rangers. on a last note, the caps finished the regular season with one of the easiest, if not, the easiest schedule. on the other hand, the rangers have been playing for their playoff lives for the past month and finished with one of the hardest schedules. i believe the rangers will be much better in terms of preparation.

all my opinons of course, but i think they are accurate.

FUCKING PLAYOFFS BABY!!!
/caps

My month and a half holiday finally begins!! so excited

Posted by elFreak on Apr-15-2009 02:40:

we will have to agree to disagree.

post up your predictions guys. (i don't know how to set up a playoff pool) Warning I don't think the habs will win really but i can't bet against my own team ever. Hate them or not sean, you gotta stick by your team no matter what.

Bruins vs Habs

pick Habs in 7

Rangers vs Caps

pick caps in 6.

Carolina vs New Jersey.

pick Canes in 6 (could go either way, but the Canes are on fire since they got cole back, if they steal one on the road they are tough to beat at home.)

Philly vs Pittsburg.

Pick Pens in 5.

SJ vs Anaheim

pick ducks in 7.

Columbus vs Detroit.

pick wings in 6.

St - Louis vs Vancouver

pick nucks in 6 (although i am rooting hard for the blues, so entertaining to watch during the 2nd half of the season)

Chicago vs Calgary.

pick Calgary in 7. (this is going to be a killer series.)

yes, i think there will be no sweeps.

btw the habs and bruins essentially have the same teams as last year, the difference is in the seedings, metropolit is with us, ryder is with them.

bruins, rangers, devils, penguins

>> rangers devils

>>>> rangers

-------------

ducks, wings, canucks, hawks

>> wings canucks

>>>> canucks

Posted by elFreak on Apr-15-2009 02:52:

how many games though, makes it a little more fun.

save the second round for the second round, as we will all get a few of them wrong and can still play.

rangers in the finals?

i could see vancouver though, they have bobba lou.

Posted by sean5 on Apr-15-2009 03:16:

ok

bruins in 5 - won't be a sweep like you said, but bos still dominates this matchup

devils in 6 - carolina has been hot lately so give them 2 games, but no more than that

rangers in 6 - win 1 in was and the rest at home. different ranger team that is hot

penguins in 6 - depends on the refs really, but philly goaltending is too questionable. if the physical play heats up you can count on tons of powerplays for cindy and ivanna which is the only way they win.

-----------------

anaheim in 7 - like you said(as far as games) i think that anaheim is a bad matchup for san jose because they play a very physical style plus they've been pretty hot lately

detroit in ?? - i think they will win due to experience and it could be either a beating if the cbjs get nervous or it could be a 7 game series. depends on goaltending for both teams: will mason continue being the awesome goalie or will he fold in the playoffs. will osgood suddenly become awesome like last year?? hard to say so hard to pick

canucks in 5 - luongo and i believe they will be able to score more than in past years. blues have been hot, but i don't think they have much of a chance in this one.

hawks in 5 - flames are a terrible road team that had trouble scoring to finish the season. hawks look determined and khabibulin is on fire.

Posted by Deeks1187 on Apr-15-2009 03:35:

le habs in 7 ~bruins are just bound to fail
capitals in 6 ~no way to stop ovechkin on a better team this year
devils in 7 ~good matchup, brodeur manages to settle things down while parise, zajac, langenbrunner does its thing
flyers in 6 ~like the depth here, lots of goal scorers and grit

sharks in 6 ~don't expect a shark choke, or?? hmm
wings in 5 ~well jackets, i hope you Really enjoy the first week of the playoffs as it looks like an early exit for you
canucks in 6 ~ blues, another good story but an early exit as well
hawks in 7 ~ Will the stache prevail?! i believe q's hawks are movin on

favorite first round series ~flyers pens~ goals + bodies and teeth flying for 6 games = win

GO DEVILS!

west
vancouver in 6 > blues momentum is good, but cman, sundin

where are the leafs? oh that's right, they're missing the playoffs again. must be fun being a fan of a perennial bottom dweller. maybe if time travel becomes readily available, you can go back to a time when your team actually didn't suck huge cock.
