Holland is controlling Argentina's crafty attacks very well. Let's hope they keep their game up on the 2nd half and don't back down like in previous games.

What would have been the best game of the opening round!!!
A shame.
Did anyone think either of these teams would care if they play POR or MEX next???
That's one thing I question about this great tournament
The Groups that play each other next should play at the sametime so they do not know the results of the previous match to decide whether to play or not!!!
Like yesterday GER beat ECU earlier so England had the upper hand maybe they wanted to play Germany first and conceed to SWE. While SWE needed a tie or the win. Why should ENG get that advantage just cause they are in a different group? ENG-SWE and GER-ECU should have been the Early games etc.

Lampard does a lot for England. I personally think Gerard is a better player, but Lampard does a lot of little things at the back. If you say that to have them both in the middle England wont win is an understatement. England does have a strong chance this year, I just think that goaltending is their key weakness. They don't have the Didas or Lehnmans. Robinson is a just above average goalie. He is no Peter Shilton or Dave Seaman.
Anyway, my point was that all this bashing of Lampard isn't worth it. He's always a dangerous force in the middle and comes back to help out at the back. You can't ask from his more than what he's doing. Yes, sometimes he has bad games. That's every player. Ronaldinho also had a bad game this tournament. It happens to everyone. But everytime he's on that pitch, he's dangerous in every way, you don't cover him properly and he'll make you pay! |
what games have you been watching! He's been the worst England player. There is more to the game than simply having a crack or two at the net during a game. He cannot beat a man, or create opportunities in forward play and constantly is going backwards. That is the mark of someone without any confidence. Watch him very closely in the next game. I hope he improves but I doubt Sven will drop him even if he continues to be a ghost out there.

this was the worst game i watched yet

This game didn't live up to its expectactions but it wasn't surprising. Both teams have already qualified and didn't seem like they wanted to push themselves. I think Holland prefers to play Portugal next than to potentially play Germany in the quarter finals. Regardless, Holland played well against a very solid Argentina.

they both didn't really have anything to play for except first place in the group and facing Mexico rather than Portugal, which is actually worth it now that i think about it. Nice rematch from 2004 now though between Portugal and Holland. Winner of that plays winner of England/Ecuador in the QF. Could also be an Argentina/Germany QF too.

not a problem Fuad
it saved searching for it in the thread
I watched the first half and there was nothing really spectacular about it at all. I thought for sure when I had to go back to work that something would happen and I kept checking The Score to see but nothing. So guys, I am sorry you all had to watch a boring game, but I am sure as glad I missed the bore over excitement
It really is too bad though cuz as already stated this was what ppl were hoping would be one of the best matches so far and I am sure a lot were disappointed as well.

Naaaaa!!! LOL
I just wish it would have been a real game! It would have had the makings of a Final Match!
It didnt really matter matchup wise nor did either team want to risk any major injury or cards to any key players that where already in jeopardy. Unlike yesterday with Germany. Klinsmann in all his wisdom decides to let Ballack (carrying a Yellow Card) to continue in the game when they where already 3-0 in the second half. It was mentioned this was a test to the so called team leader? I think it was foolish and that something is definatley going on between the two as a result of Ballack wanting to play in the opener!
Anyways good luck against Portugal. Hope its an entertaining match but from what I've seen so far of Portugal. It shouldnt be a problem!
ciao

I was at the Pontiac Silverdome for the WC'94 match between Brazil and Sweden...same thing...the two best teams in the group meeting in the final group game, both already having secured places in the 2nd round...once it was tied at 1-1, the match lost its luster...but watching the Brazilian and Swedish supporters kept it entertaining enough

The game will go @3pm - 4:45pm EST
Why not hang at a bar on Church that has the game?

Thanks!
(apparently today I was not bright enough to think of that on my own
