Calderon is a fucking idiot... OK, i agree that Madrid did not play well for the first half of the season.. But lets get one thing straight, they hired Capello to get RESULTS, and he delivered. In my opinion Capello's work was amazing. He came in, didnt give a shit about who the players were (wasnt scared to bench Cassano or sell Ronaldo), didnt care about what the directors said and didnt care about all the whistles and booing of the Bernabeu. He stood his ground and continued to beleive in his ideas, and they worked. People dont realize how hard the job Capello did actually was. He came into a club with a lot of big-ego players with probably the most demanding fans and directors and in one season managed to win la Liga. And let me tell you, even though Madrid's football wasnt great during the first half, It has been a LOOOONG time since I can remember living such exciting games with Madrid as I did during this seasons last 2 months. I had never been so anxious waiting for Sunday so I could see Madrid play. So bottom line is, Capello's owrk was great. He came to madrid, fixed all the ego-problems by having ballas and not fearing to bench anybody, he got the team spirit back which is what we needed the most, and most importantly, he won the fucking liga. So he did what he was hired to do. Beside, If Capello stayed I bet Madrid would begin next season playing awesome like they did at the end of this season.. CALDERON, DIMISION!

But his football philosophy doesn't match with Real Madrid football philosophy, and thats why they sign(ed) Schuster (who had a pre-contract with Real Madrid since March, when RM was elimitated from both Copa del Rey -very poor performance- and Champions League, when Capello wasn't fired by inches -they let him finish the season, but the decision was taken-. The luck Madrid had the last 3 months -those desperate and rare injury-time wins- saved Capello from the 'Spring sack'), even with his achievement at handling the roster (problems until mid-season, with the brazilians, Cassano, the veterans, Beckham..., 'apparently' solved in the end).

Bernd Schuster: of course, Madrid roster isn't Getafe one. Has a Del Bosque similar profile (playbook, relation with players), an that might help. I only see him sacked soon if things go very bad at every front. See: Rijkaard.

Madrid fans are stuck in a timewarp then. Playin Good football and maintaining a challenge on all fronts is impossible. FACT. it may have been something achievable back in the 60's when the gulf in class was so great between madrid and others they faced but now football is a much harder game to win all the time (see man utd this season), so to do it fans must have to realise that sometimes the team has to play ugly football.

So why sign cappello on a 3 year deal if they knew it was going to be short term?

Cappello was brought in to try and sort out a dressing room in which player power was overwhelming managers. He got rid of ronaldo and carlos, cassano is still a problem, but beckham was sorted out and ended up giving his best performances in a madrid shirt under cappello. Job done.

I don't see schuster handling the step up and think he will be sacked before the season is finished.

At the end of the day, if you sack a manager who gets results your never likely to do well.

I sincerely hope that cannavaro goes to napoli so I can start supporting barca again because the way cappello (one of my hero's in the game - see athens 94 and milans demolition of barcelona) has been treated sickens me to the core, talk about using someone.

once more a good example of bad managment at Real Madrid (or better, the lack of managment)

Capello did what Real hasn't done in years, win a prize. The football may have been bad, but with Capello they could have build futher on this years achievments. With a new coach it could well be that they have to start from scratch. Schuster will have to adapt to his new environment, the players to the new trainer and possibly other tactics ...

Definitely NOT a good decision to sack Capello

i srsly cant stop venting about how disgraceful this is. More than anything, they have on consecutive occasions sacked the same coach after he won them the league. Its just plain disrespectful.

As for the criticism directed at Madrid only winning at the depth after falling behind on most occasions, it means that Capello instilled in them, an ability to play better under pressure which is the hallmark of a great football team. United were infamous for injury time goals during their dominance of english football in the 90's.

And when management changes, so do players so this is probably unsettling the madrid squad as well - must be confusing to realize that you might not be playing good enough despite winning trophies.

Sad to think that the only reasonable logic i can take out for Capello's sacking is that he was probably one of the main factors behind Beckham's departure and that is going to cost Madrid big time in terms of brand image given that they only overtook united as the richest club in the world once beckham left old trafford to head to the bernabeu.

Well that was a pretty big win. Villareal didn't play all that bad, just Real capitalized on almost every opportunity. Sneijder was amazing though, and Guti also impressed me. I wonder what the first team will look like when Robben & Higuain are back from injury.

Oh, and pure class from Raul when handing over the captain's armband to Guti. Gotta love him, even if he's been below par the past few seasons.

Why did Sneijder have to pick those assholes to play for

Impressive game by Real.... Every plyer played perfectly this game (except maybe Drenthe who was weak defensivley whn he was playing as left back)... Its really good to see Raul back on track! Sneijder was great, and Guti, proving that there should be no debate about his position in the starting 11. I would've loved for Drenthe to score on that last play, it would;ve been an amazing goal. Hala Madrid!
