Big FA's after this season:
Kris Benson [RHSP]
Eric Milton [LHSP]
Randy Wolf [LHSP]
- They need this more than anything. Milton isnt exceptional but hes a lefty. Randy has potential, can be awesome, but again its important that hes a lefty.
Eric Byrnes [CF]
Torii Hunter [CF]
Aaron Rowand [CF]
- Discussed already. Rowand preferred, but either of the 3 would be welcomed.
Adam Dunn [LF]
- Dunn will give you the ugliest 40HR season. But it will get Matsui out of the field.
Joe Nathan [CL]
- Mo is close to retiring.
Yorvit Torrealba [C]
- Posada is getting old, Nieves is horrible, Torreabla could fill the spot off the bench, and eventually take over.
Dmitri Young [1B]
- Temporary solution at 1B, although signing Dunn does that also, but we dont need another Giambi.
Andy phillips looks like he really wants the first base job. Big hit after big hit with runners in scoring position since he's come back.
Now back to studying.
btw....i was reading a previous post about cordero, he wasn't run out of the american league, he was traded to milwaukee for carlos lee. I think he would be a good pick up in the offseason. i can't see milwaukee seriously dealing him now when they are a serious contender in the NL
Also, i should correct myself, i said that upton played 2B, clearly thats not true, he's a CF. i was thinking about his brother.
Last nights talk about Shelly's power really cashed in today, going yard against TB's reliever Ryu.

Originally posted by Vlad Didnt Cordero go through a stretch for Texas where he was getting ripped apart? He lost his CL job to Otsuka last season, and was traded. At the same time Turnbow was getting ripped apart in Milwakee and were in dire need. Milwakee also got Mench, Nix and some minor leaguer in that deal.

Originally posted by jerZ07002 you're right that he had a poor season with texas last year, but prior to that he was pretty solid. about duncan, im always worried when someones first hit is a HR. It shows what he is trying to do. Hopefully he'll settle down and not try to destroy each pitch. But that said, im glad he showed what he's capable of. was it a monster blast? im not watching, i'm taking hourly breaks from studying and posting and checking the scores.

Originally posted by Vlad To address this, I would rather have a team bred player, and if he can do .280 with 20HRs and around .300 OBP, he would have served his purpose.
I was being modest with the #'s. I wanted to say .340, but I thought I might be pushing it.
Yea, marginally successful, well said. He would be the perfect 8/9 hole hitter.
Edit: The one thing I hate, is Giambi in the 5 spot. Ugh, .250, with 30HRs... just ugly. Yes, I really dislike Giambi.
I just did alittle looking, and next year is a FA bonanza of pitching, alot of very good relief pitching.
One name that stands out among the crowd is Carl Crawford. TB is in a catch 22 situation with him. If they attempt to resign him, it will probably rip them a new asshole, and they wont be able to resign any of their young stars.
FA pitchers after next year:
SPs
Jake Peavy
Brad Penny
Ben Sheets
John Smoltz
Derek Lowe
John Lackey
Jon Garland
Oliver Perez
C.C. Sabathia
Johan Santana
RPs
Matt Wise
Rafael Soriano
Brandon Lyon
Dennys Reyes
Guillermo Mota
Joe Beimel
Thats the year when they should pool money, get rid of contracts, and make some moves.

nice start to game 2, first two at bat score. looks like a promising game.
Tampa has club options on Crawford for 2009 and 2010

Originally posted by Vlad Yea, these are the 2008 FA's Yea, but isnt it up to Crawford to stay? Also, by keeping him whats gonna happen is Upton, Young, Crawford, Kazmir, Harris are gonna be FA's all at once. Its gonna turn into the firesale of the Marlins of 2003-2004. The club doesnt make enough to keep them all. So if I were Cashman and George, Id be taking Carl and his agent out to dinner every night that hes in NY.
