Where'd you get this table? (if you didn't build it yourself, which you probably did)

Posted by DJ Orion on Mar-09-2004 16:47:

My father built it for me, He gets all the credit.

WERD UP!

These pictures really don't reflect all the hard work that when in to making this mixer case.

So the mixer is the Rane 2016 MP+XP. Since the mixer is designed for rack mount, all of the correctors are on the back of the unit. When I started checking out cases it looked like I was going to have to get something that was 4U in depth to accommodate the depth of the unit plus the space required for cabling. I felt that 4U would have been way too high.

Instead, a buddy of mine and I decided that the way to do it was to get a smaller case, custom cable all of the internals and then terminate all of the inputs/outputs on a patch panel. 15 man hours (which my buddy did) and $500 worth of parts later we have the end result, which I promote as the finest mixer case on the planet for the Rane 2016.

The power supplies are mounted in to front as well and the heat they give off makes the front hand rest the perfect warmth. And when I want to play at a party I just put the lid on and go. It really worked out nice I think.

This is the table:

I got the 60 X 24. I paid way less then that ($350 I think) but it took a couple months to arrive.

I one thing I didn't like about it was that if you would bump it there would be a lot of feedback with the Technics. Just tapping the service of the table would cause it. But now that I switched to the CDJs it doesn't matter.

Yeah the totally flush (meaning no wires) plasma and surround sound was another massive project with the same buddy. I guess he's a pretty good guy to have around.

We are renting a warehouse here in Seattle where I am going to DJ in a couple months. This guy is bringing a $5000 argon laser that he brought. The laser is so powerful that he needs a permit from the county to turn it on. That, along with all the other lighting he has is going to make it a killer event!

On a side note, a couple people have asked about the speaker stands. They are the VTI BLE101. Here is a Froogle search for them:

keith is gettin all the attention, sweet ass place tho, is it a studio apartment?

Posted by Vlad on Mar-12-2004 08:01:

Last time I checked... studios normally dont come with a fireplace.

Posted by Keith Chambers on Mar-13-2004 22:12:

Wow I feel like I'm on MTV Cribs or something... I'm really not trying to be all P. Diddy and show off. I just didn't see anybody with a custom mobile setup (or a Rane 2016) so I wanted to fill that void.

I have been DJing for 3 years or so but I have only done 5 parties so far. But like I said I am putting on a ~150 guest event on May 8th that we are calling 'Ocho de Mayo'. That will be my first big event. If anybody in Seattle wants to go send me an email and I will get you the info.

As far as the place goes, it's a 1 Bed/1 Bath+Den condo in the Belltown district of Seattle. I would have got bigger monitors but I’m not really on good terms with my neighbors as it is. That is why I had to get something with a 5 1/2 inch driver. Now I can crank them all the way up and I have never got a complaint. The only person that has said anything at all since I put in the new monitors was the guy that lives above me but he works for Bose so it's cool.

The photos don't show it but that buddy of mine and I actually wired an analog connect from the pillar behind the left monitor that goes all the way over to the receiver, which is to the left of the plasma. So I guess I could put a PC over there (or a Mac ) with some VDJ software.

As for the vinyl situation, I am keeping all of it. I transfer it all over to CD but I always fear that one day I am going to need it so I hang on. Plus I wouldn't feel right playing the track if I haven't paid for it. The best thing about vinyl is that is can't really be pirated easily. I am scared to death of that would happen if everybody used CDs and piracy became rampant in DJ land. The market for trance is so small that I think it could really drive a lot of artists out of business.

Alright, no more about me please. Let's see what other have come up with!
