Called DoubleTree today...

$15 for the fridge for your entire stay, not per night... subject to availbility...

$20 valet a night or $5 self park for parking, but there are other lots around the hotel, but not affiliated. Maybe cheaper?

No checkins before 3pm, you can try, but they won't guarantee anything, because the weekend. But the guy said you can try...

And if anyone only got a room for the Sat/Sun and are thinking about getting it for one more night on Monday to avoid hassle of tossing all your shit in a car Monday morning and then heading back after Monday's festivities.... $149.99USD for the night if you get it at the desk... If anyone went through hotels.ca it is $154CAD per night (4 guests). Don't know if extending it now if you orginall purchased it through a coupon code will change anything however.

thanks for the info

I definately want the fridge LOL

So its $5 to self part AT the doubletree vs $20 for valet?? If thats the case might as well park at doubletree then cuz the cheapest I found around was $5/day but thats 400m away

Coolers? FILL YOUR SINK WITH ICE!!!! Unless you have enough room for it....

Posted by PivotTechno on May-26-2010 17:17:

So, someone fill me in on the water and food sitch at Hart Plaza again... I seem to recall reading something about 30 pages about the gate security being fairly lax with that sort of thing, but other boards are saying that any water/snacks need to be snuck in. Is it nothing but overpriced 300ml bottles and fast food once inside?

Posted by Intangible on May-26-2010 17:41:

I hear its all about food on a stick

Posted by PurpleHaze on May-26-2010 18:46:

they are very forgiving on checks...pretty much you don't get pat down and just open any bags/purses you have

the one day i snuck in 4 cans of beer around my shorts and was happy sailing after that LOL

so ya, just hide it in your pockets and you're good to go

nah, just brought it up 'cause a few people had said they might buy one, and I thought I could save someone a few bucks. I'm fine with the sink, as I'll most likely only need to keep a mixer or two chilled for some vodka ... but I know a lot of people like to buy a case or two of brew to keep on hand, for which a sink won't work. I'll prob bring one just in case anyone needs it since I have room and fridges sound very limited.

Water is overpriced, beer is overpriced... foos is reasonable. It's tons of different food, chicken fingers and fries, hot dogs, sausages, corndogs, pizza, pretty much anything you get at a carnival or fair. But remember, you can leave and go as you please... there are a few restaurents in the area if you want a break and wanna go eat. You can try to sneak in liquids, but they usually make you spill it if you make it obvious bringing it in...

Yeah true... but you don't want to get caught, you never know if they change security... do you really want to lose your 3day pass and not be allowed in for a couple beers?

I'd say, test the security out Saturday, then following accordingly after...

Also, you can go in the front, leave and come back using the back entrace where usually all they care about is the braclet...

Yeah, I mentioned I was buying one, but that's because I need one and what better time than now, and i'm sure that it will be cheaper in the D as well...

Posted by Mach X on May-27-2010 04:11:

Well it looks like a hot one this weekend, and at least the chance of thunderstorms on Monday went down to 40% from 90%!

And for anyone in Ontario... I highly suggest that you get Out Of Province Insurance... it's pretty cheap, less than $3 a day... I just bought Sat-Tues from CAA for $11.52. You can also get it from your bank sometimes or get extended from your benifets at work.

Either way, I would check into it before you go! It's not a bad thing, you never know what could happen, from dehyrdration from being in the sun all day, food posioning, broken bones from a fall, cuts and scraps... whatever it could be

I had a friend who had a wee bit to much to drink in Detroit one night, passed out in a club, club MADE us call an albulance because of liability and insurance, went to the hospital, she was in there 4 hours and they ran some tests. 2 weeks later she got a bill for $2300 and that was only hospital bed, doctor consult and the tests and abulance ride.

Just call them up, give them your name, DOB, address etc.. and you can pay over the phone on credit card and then they will email or fax you your policy.

CAA - 1-800-267-8713

Betetr safe than sorry, and for only $12...

Thought you guys might be interested in this.

Groupon has an awesome discount for Angelina Italian Bistro on Broadway. A $40 gift certificate bought through the groupon website costs you $20. The menu looks delicious too.

Nice, will have to figure out if we can find space to fit them in for a meal - the menu looks fantastic. And big ups Mach X for the head-up on the travel insurance - well worth the $23 for the two of us (and yeah, it doesn't cover things like alcohol or drug problemos, but still a good idea considering the cost of U.S. medical care).

Posted by Chaska on May-27-2010 17:54:

No offense to the ones intoxicated, but if you're going to be far from home, getting retardedly fucked up to the point of needing to be taken to a hospital is just dumb. Waste of time and money aside from putting yourself in danger unnecessarily. Use common sense, guys!

Posted by PivotTechno on May-27-2010 18:13:

Oh, and looks like it's the Metroplex party for us. Sims and Rob Hood in the same room? Yes please!
