Old Rasputin is gross.

Hercules is divine.

Picked up some James Squire IPA this morning, as well as some more of the Murray's Craft Brewing Co "Icon IPA-2" which I've had before.

*gets post-it notes ready for srussell*

^^ So, it's ok, but a bit "meh" IMO. 5.6% ABV. Pretty hoppy in flavour, without much malt at all, but it's got a weird aftertaste that isn't that appealing, and it tastes a bit watered down compared to the other IPAs I've tried.

I'd get it again, because it's pretty cheap, but only if I particularly wanted an IPA, and there were no other ones to choose from (which unfortunately, is quite likely in the future, lol )

I have only had like 2 of their beers, but the 2 i have had are delish.

So I just opened the Murray's IPA now, to compare. Far, far superior in every way. Tons of hops, nice wicked malt follow-up. God damn delicious.

But expensive

I don't mind paying good money for Alcohol if it tastes good.

Same here, but oh man as an American, you would cry at the prices for good booze over here

A 4 pack of the Murray's IPA was $24, which is nearly the same as I normally buy Hoegaarden Grand Cru for ($30 for a 6 pack). Super high alcohol taxes here

I'll come and crash on your couch then, shall I?

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Jan-14-2012 06:59:

I have a sleeper sofa now! You'll have to let me know, as I'll have to let the missus know to expect internationals.

I think Stu would prefer to just sleep in your bed, Hal. right next to you.

Posted by Sushipunk on Jan-14-2012 07:01:

Nah, it'll be easy. I'll get Hal smashed to the point where passes out. Then I'll raid his computer for the pic folder/photobucket account.... then I'll never sleep again

In fact, you could make him your Stow Away

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Jan-14-2012 07:03:

Oh cmon, it's not that ba- ok, it's pretty bad. Yeah, you'll have to re-think a lot of your morals. That can't be a bad thing in the long run though, right?

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Jan-14-2012 07:04:

I'm so excited, I could just share!

Hey stu

Posted by Joss Weatherby on Jan-14-2012 07:43:

Is anyone in here allergic to hops in general and/or wheat beers? Everytime I drink a beer or two my nose gets so stuffed up that I can barely breath through it. If I know I am going out and going to be drinking mostly beer I take a zyrtec before going out, and that helps prevent a sinus headache or running nose, but my nose still gets stuffed up really bad!

I do have hay fever as well. I think it might be related to that.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Posted by Sushipunk on Jan-14-2012 08:11:

Suggestions? Go and get tested for allergies If it turns out you're allergic to beer/wheat/hops, then you'll just have to drink something else

Posted by Joss Weatherby on Jan-14-2012 09:06:

Actually when I was living in seattle I was taking these one like 4 hours pills and they worked really well but I can't remember what they are.

I know, I should get tested. I should also probably get prescription strength allergy medicine cause most of the time other stuff doesn't cut it.
