are the closing parties meant to be much better?

Posted by Trance Nutter on Sep-18-2005 08:00:

I'd love to do the closing parties, but I'll probably leave straight after Dance Valley, gotta be back here before August 31st.

Unless theres another festival thingy in the week after DV?

Just wondering if any of you are doing an Eastern European stint at all??

I'm thinking about heading back over July 06.

Posted by tathi on Sep-18-2005 22:47:

^^ i may be over there around that time and eastern europe appeals to me more than western europe

depends on where you are, but prague certainly ain't after they implemented a new tax there last year. thankfully i visited just before the tax was introduced.

Should be back over there next year. Will be doing more of Eastern Europe but definitely returning to Ibiza and staying for a while in the Netherlands again. Dance Valley and Extrema will probably be happening again for me but Global Gathering (England = meh) and Sensation (unless the line-up is considerably better) most likely won't. Wouldn't mind seing Baltic coast either or parts of Scandinavia. Italy once again will probably be overlooked.

Spent about 8k this year on my trip for the 7 weeks I was there. Very pleased with that.

Holland, Germany, Sweden, Czech, Austria or Switzerland or Portugual (not sure yet), Spain then Ibiza
Cant wait

+1 - probably my favourtie country.

I been reading up heads on Slavakia lately and it seems like a cool place to go. Youth hostels about $5 a night, meals $3-$4, good stuff.

hehe
yeah i just did already got my draft itinerary for next yr! think a contiki tour to start things off might be the go..

Posted by tathi on Sep-23-2005 00:58:

^^^ heheh you know you've caught the bug when you start planning your next trip when you haven't even finished your first

Rach: from my understanding Istanbul is an extremely cosmipolitan city and you would have no trouble roaming the streets on your own, i'm not sure about the rest of the country but it is fairly westernised (exponentially compared to other muslim states) and you should have no trouble if you stick to the beaten track. My mum travelled through Turkey alone 25 years ago and said it was fine

All my mates that i met overseas said Turkey is inundated with Australians also

ps. Contiki sucks, Independant Travel FTW!

Posted by misstrance on Sep-23-2005 02:41:

r u serious? i just did a contiki trip last month around Europe and it was amazing!! we covered heaps of places in such a short time and having a bus drive u around is much better than flying to each city and dragging ur suitcase around eveywhere!

what didnt u like about it? we were lucky to have an awesome group on our trip too which helped a lot as everyone got along really well.

i just arrived back to sydney on tuesday and i'm already planning my next trip will prob work overseas for a few mths then travel some more.. better get over the jet lag first hey

i've never done Contiki actually, but i know that type of travel isn't for me; i prefer to grab a one way ticket to a country with a vague idea of the sites i want to see and then organise everything on the fly, asking other backpackers about the current hot spots, and planing the trip accordingly. There's nothing like the freedom of being able to wake up in one country and decide to catch a bus or a plane to another country on a whim and then working out your accomodation when you get there.

good to hear you had a good trip lisa!
