It rained 2 years ago just as dusk was setting in, Josh Wink was finishing and Dubfire was starting at the Beatport tent...

And it was FUCKIN AWESOME! Many ran for the tent, the rest enjoyed the beats and the rain! Was very refreshing...

and, I'm gonna take some shit, but I'm actually a little happy that 'lobos isn't gonna be there. Well, not happy, because I wanted to see him at the festival.. He bored me a bit in Ibiza last year though, and I wasn't necessarily looking forward to his set on the boat. Now, since a dj set by richie excites me more than him as Plastikman, I'm pretty happy about the boat. I just hope a bunch of people don't skip it now, but oh well....

oh, and Magda

Agreed. I wasn't looking forward to the plastikman show either but i'm VERY happy that we'll get to see him do a dj set! twice!

they should have applied for the visas earlier, there is no reason why he should be denied..with new security measures in place in US it takes double the time to process working visas, same thing in canada btw.. i'm happy and sad at the same time since you guys wanted to see him so bad and 2 guys i wanted to see the most have cancelled, i guess it's a sign, you want to see zee germans then you gotta travel a bit (outside of us i mean lol)

A light shower would be nice, but not late Sunday or on Monday IMO. Old Miami is all grass, so it won't be that fun to dance/sit/lay on wet grass.

@ berlimnml hype machine

At least all of the Detroit guys are already *in* Detroit.

Got our groupon yesterday and will be hitting up Angelina for an early dinner when we arrive tomorrow. The sweet sounds of Woody McBride will be the first music we'll hear upon arrival at Hart. Aside from being an incredible DJ, the guy's an amazing person - health, socially and environmentally conscious and compassionate to the hilt. One of our car mates was telling me that a few years back he put his home phone number on his site in case fans needed someone to talk to and didn't have anyone else to turn to.

I admit I'm not a fan of the "plastikman" sound.... but I am still looking forward to the entire experience that Richie will put together that night.... If the visuals are anything like that on the DVD portion of the DE9: Transitions album... this will be really cool....

Sucks Villalobos won't be making it as I was looking forward to checking him out... Am though excited to see a Richie set (or two) as well...

Want your room!!!

Hello,

I am interested in taking your reservation. I had 2 rooms booked at the stupid Holiday Inn Express.. and guess what? - They do not have my reservation!

Please email me at [email protected]. I'm at work all day and I'll give you my contact information from there and we discuss further.

Thanks a bunch!

Want this room!!!

Hi,

Please email me at [email protected] if this is still avaliable, please!!!!

!!!

Posted by knacker on May-28-2010 14:12:

yes it sucks that Villalobos won't be making it, but if you know his history with bookings it comes as no surprise.

And honestly, he is WAY overrated anyways...

Hawtin's dj sets have been hit or miss the past few years, but when he's on - look out!

They should book no-show-lobos in Windsor and have everyone cross the border for a party there lol

not too surprised that he's got issues AGAIN but I still was super excited to check him out finally...

so glad I didn't buy boat cruise tickets!

t-minus 24hrs till departure! this is gonna be one long day at work......UGH

No way man. I have definitely seen him play bad sets, but I've had near religious experiences hearing this guy play at DC-10 and Amnesia.

This is very true. As a matter of fact, he's more miss than hit, but when he's hit, he's untouchable. I don't think he has any choice but to play the best set of his life on Sunday night or there are going to be many, many disappointed people.

Posted by kaniz on May-28-2010 14:52:

Hawtin and Ricardo have always been a bit of hit and miss, but when they are on-point its damn near unmatchable.

The Richie vs Ricardo set from Mutek still gives me chills when I listen to it (so happy that set was recorded).

Posted by PurpleHaze on May-28-2010 15:10:

BTW I have one extra 3-day DEMF ticket if anyone wants it...$45

PM me if you're interested

Ricardo is def a bit overrated, but I think that comes with the whole thing that he hasn't come to the US for a while, being a bit of a music genius, plus he's a very hard booking to get anywhere in the world. But you all have to admit, when he's on, his sets are nothing short of a f*cking revelation.

I doubt Richie will be a miss @ home... but you never know. Like you said, I'm one of them hoping he better play the best set of his life. I've seen Richie miss way too many times. Combine that with the fact that I'm stuck with the boat tickets, and I will be very pissed off if he sucks.

I've never been a fan of Ricardo. Most of his sets i grabbed didnt do much for me... However this changed when i saw him live in MTL@Metropolis. OMG! really the guy must be seen. I was really hoping to see him again.....and i had wet dreams of a possible b2b w/ Richie..

Richie's set 2 years ago was amazing @ demf, so was his set in windsor @ BBR. I am not worried that he wont deliver. Glad to see magda on the boat too, wasnt gonna see her in the shit underground stage!

Since DEMF finished last year Ive been counting down the days to return. Ive attended DEMF for the past 4 years now. I have not once complained about the lineup, the weather, dj cancellations, or what hotel I ended up in. Ive noticed people in Toronto are spoiled and need to give more respect from the promoters and paxahau. I know Richardo may have canceled, but there will be some major talent in store for this weekend. Besides, since when has Toronto be able to come together and organize a festival of this magnitude. DEMF is about amazing vibes, nice weather, perfect venue, sick location, great organization, extraordinary music, ear tingling sound, cultural people, and all around great times! I always wondered why we complain on here about certain djs attending, or canceling. When Really? If you dont like who's playing... move to the next stage. Dont forget to give some of the no namers a chance, youll be surprised.

Sorry for my rant See you all this weekend!

This is all very true, which is why I got over the cancellation news so quickly. I've been to DEMF 3 out of the 4 past years for a reason (only reason I missed one of the years was because I was out of the country).

There should be more tickets avail at the willcall, there was last year. And should be especially this year becase of the refunds GETTICKETS are giving out.

It's a chance, but if you wait till closer of departure for the boat, they sell more. Many people buy tickets, then bail out cuz they are too raved out from the day... so if they are not at capacity they will let people on.
