On another note, recent data shows SymbianOS devices dominating the world in mobile browsing stats... 58% of mobiles browsing the internet are SymbianOS based. Yay.

1. Make it Less Crashy The iPhone with 2.0 software feels a little buggy. It'll randomly crash or slow down to the point of unusability until you restart every few days with normal use. That's not right; this is a cellphone. It shouldn't feel like an unstable computer. 2. Fix the Keyboard Lag A good chunk of the time, typing on the iPhone keyboard is made even more difficult due to the lag involved. Typing quickly means the letters pop up four keystrokes after you hit them. Make the keyboard move as fast as the user can type. 3. Fix Safari Orientation Switch Lag Sometimes, Safari takes its sweet, sweet time switching from portrait to landscape when you turn the phone. This should feel almost instantaneous, not something you have to wait for. 4. Make Backing Up Faster For some, "backing up" whenever you plug in your iPhone can take upwards of 30 minutes. What is it doing, exactly? The iPhone sync should be near-instantaneous when you plug it in if you aren't moving large files back and forth on purpose. 5. Make it More Efficient The 3G mode is a battery hog. You can turn off 3G completely, but if there was an option to only use 3G for certain programs, such as Safari and Maps, it would go a long way towards making this a phone you aren't afraid to unplug in the morning when you aren't planning on getting home until very late that night. 6. Video Recording This could easily be implemented, as we've seen from apps available for jailbroken phones. What's the holdup? 7. Wi-Fi Syncing We'd love to have our iPhone sync automatically when it hits our home Wi-Fi network, from app data to photos to music to contacts. 8. Leave App Icons in Place After an Update When apps update, their icon gets picked up and moved to the very bottom of your last screen. Why? When you updated four apps at once it then makes you awkwardly move them all back to where they were. Just leave them in place. 9. Make Moving Icons from Page to Page Easier Moving an icon from one page to another takes multiple tries and, unlike most things on the iPhone, feels awkward and user unfriendly. Make this less of a pain. 10. Copy & Paste Duh. |

Holy shit what a zinger
Blackberry Pearl 8220 aka Kickstart aka Blackberry Flip Phone.
From $99.99 ($49.99 with student plan)

reliable source and friend of the site has just let us know the pricing and promotional details of the upcoming Rogers 8220 Pearl. To be pushed this September as a Back to School product, the device will be heavily advertised towards college and univeristy students across Canada.Retail Price: $599.99 3-Year Voice and Data Contract Price: $99.99 Special Promotional Price: $49.99 The special promotional price that Rogers is hoping to sell a lot of 8220s with requires the student sign up for the $45 Student Plan, $15 an up Email Plan, and $15 or $20 Value Pack. The $45 Student Plan includes: - 450 Weekday Minutes - Unlimited Evenings and Weekends starting at 6pm - MY5 Canada-Wide (Unlimited talk, SMS, and MMS to any five numbers in Canada) - Unlimited Local Incoming Minutes - $5 off Value Pack for duration of contract As with the iPhone 3G, the outright purchase of the device may not be possible for the first month or so as Rogers tries to get as many people into new contracts as possible. Now is it just me or does it seem that at least $70 a month is a lot for a post-secondary student to be paying for a cellphone bill to get the 8220 for $49.99? |
Shit, that's a pretty good deal. Too bad the Pearl (in any form) sucks.

| Originally posted by Cosmic Fur I hope Pearl doesn't do well. BlackBerry makes business devices. I don't know many business people who are big on sharing mp3s and snapping random pics of their girlfriends. If I had a company and was deciding between getting the BlackBerry Pearl for my employees or another BlackBerry device that has no camera and no mp3 player (and is thus probably cheaper), guess which one I'd choose. |

My 3G needs rehab, its CRACKED OUT!

Thank god i have the bad chip set and Apple is giving me a new phone
Is that just the top layer, or the screen itself? Will it display anything?
Rumored price is $399 on a 3-year contract...
$649 or $699 (can't remember) outright..
It works fine...
Its just the actual glass/plastic thats the screen of the phone.
I thought the phone was fine, but it landed on its face. I have dropped the phone many times but it falls on the back. This time i didn't get so lucky...
