Well deserved. If Calderon listens to Raul and Heinze (and just about every fan across the planet), the summer shouldn't see them delve too much into the market, which should be to their benefit.

Goodness me, Garay's just been confirmed. Just imagine him, Sergio Ramos, Pepe (who majorly improved over the course of the season), and Marcelo in the same defensive line-up in a few years.

Pepe & Marcelo aren't that good though. Garay & Ramos will be great for sure but they're short another centre-back (although metzelder may well provide that) and someone at left back, quality of say Lahm, Evra or what we saw in ex pros like Carboni, Maldini (not sure if he's staying on another year or not) and the like. Marcelo is your typical brazilian defender, but doesn't have the qualities or skills of cafu or roberto carlos.

I think you underestimate their potential. Regardless, Real Madrid will probably buy another 10 defenders in the next 4 years, so I'm sure someone world-class will come out of that to complement at least the two we can agree on. And they also have Heinze (who still has a good couple of years left in him), Miguel Torres, and Drenthe can play as left-back as well.

Whats happening with cannavaro? Is he moving back to italy?

I'd like to see him make a return to napoli.

Nah, I'm not underestimating their potential, I just think there's a lot better players in those positions. The leftback of serbias u21 squad from last years euros was awesome for example, better than marcelo. Drenthe is an option yeah, and I like torres cos he's worked his way up from the b squad rather than been bought like most.

chesco, talk is that one of cannavaro or metzelder will leave. I'd bet on fabio, although fuck napoli, he can go get Parma back into serie A where we belong

Hes staying for 1 more season... As I understand it, even thoughGaray has been bought by Madrid, he will stay in Racing one more year and at the end of next season, he will come to replace Cannavaro... And Ian, I also agree with Intuition that you are underestimating Pepe... He has played incredible games this season, and keep in mind it is his first year in La Liga.. Marcelo still has a lot to earn, especially when it comes to defending... but I think mardid have an extremelly solid defensive line for many years to come

When will we get rid of diarrah (sp)

Posted by Txebe on Jun-06-2008 18:10:

next player -> Cristiano Ronaldo

Posted by sensorium on Jun-09-2008 05:20:

I don't know about getting C. Ronaldo. I've always made fun of him. It just wouldn't be the same.

But then again, he's growing up, he can play better football in Real Madrid and make us forget about the whiney boy who keeps thinking of fields as diving pools.

Up

Hi madridistas!! jeje

Man U. released a press statement that C. Ronaldo is not for sale, which I think is a bunch of crap. Everyone has a price. Everyone.

Schuster may have been doing a good job, but the players just seem so flat and lifeless compared to last year.

Casillas especially hasn't been the same player he was last year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Real Madrid supporter, but this season something just hasn't been clicking for them. I think they're trying to buy too much talent and they haven't had the same consistency in their lineup due to injury and buying replacement players (Huntelaar being the latest)

Posted by Intuition on Dec-13-2008 17:13:

5th worst in La Liga currently in terms of goals against, and they go out and by an out-and-out striker. That's the Real mentality I've never been able to understand. If they are still able to, they should recall Garay from loan and somehow find a replacement for Diarra because they're left so exposed at the back when they have the Dutch national team's attacking force pushing up so much (currently 2nd best in La Liga, after Barca of course).

SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS GAME!!!

Absolutely quiet the first half; detrimental in the second. First gives up the ball and has to foul Raul at the halfway line while he had 4 players around to pass to, and then has Messi SO open and takes an eternity to release the ball, just to have it intercepted. I don't care who comes on to replace him, but I'm getting tired of shouting at the screen because of his insolence.

Edit: Good riddance! But 63 minutes too late!
