Marco V at the Church - invitation

Hi all -

My name is Liz & I work for Beatport.com as well as Together Productions for the Church nightclub. My boss, Brad, would like to invite you all to come see Marco V as our guests.

We heard about the trance addicts from Arimn Van Buuren when he was in town & he told us what an amazing community it is, and then again when Gabriel & Dresden came they told us about this board & how active they are in supporting the music. We decided we'd better check it out for ourselves... It's nice to see real enthusiasm behind the DJ's and music we bring out. Sometimes you wonder if half the people there even know who the DJ is.

Brad says to please meet at the Church at 10:00. All you have to do is tell the door guy (Pete) that you are with the trance addicts group & you will get in for free. Then meet upstairs in the balcony at the bar 10:00 so we can say hello and meet you all and buy you a shot. GOTTA BE THERE BY 10!

Oh yeah fyi guys, I've officially decided to see Mauro Picotto @ GK 'stead of just heading to see Ferry for the venue...I'll be hearing a hell of alot of techno between him and Coxy

I somehow have the feeling though that his gig here will just be slightly more dissapointing then his gig at Pacha

Thanks for the invite!! Got a question tho, I'm not 21 (and I know it's an 18+ show, which I am 18) am I still invited and allowed to come up to the balcony?? Also, I don't want to end up having the bouncers or anyone think me and my friend aren't from TA, but I guess if we are and we read this then we are... wait what am I saying lol, ok, I just mean, yeah, I'm a TA person and all, but I'm not too well know and I'm still hoping to get in with the TA crowd on your invite... yeh

Yes, you will still be able to get upstairs even if you're under 21. And there's a bouncer at the top of the stairs too (Ashton) - make sure to let him know you're with TA so he will let you in up there. Unfortunately, no shots for you, sorry! But still, you should come to say hello & have a red bull or something

Awesome show - but not nearly loud enough.

Nick started the b2b with Jody around 1030ish...that was really just the establishing point of the nite. Nick bumped Syntax - Bliss (wrecked angle mix) - my new favorite song from the boys and Zabiela's EM.

After about 40 mins of the b2b they went on to their live PA immediately and without pause - Nick working the highs and Jody crafting some excellent basslines. Their new singer Omi was there and she was totally fucking spot on. Best live singer I have ever seen with a production crew - beat the hell outta Mavie Marcos' questionable stylings on that 'Live Tiesto' show. They ran through what I would assume to be most if not all of their new album and there were some spankers on there. The crowd cheered one in particular (likely their new piece) but the only one I could name immediately was Apollo. The Live PA was satisfylingly long and very well done.

After the PA Nick came back on - yes Shifter - the theatre stayed open until 2. Nick would spin now and then at the end of the night, but Jody threw a sick ass breaks set in the middle. Nick Warren was just fucking Nick Warren though. Awesome tracks, mixing - nothing old and nothing tired.

As far as the venue, the Boulder Theatre was alright. The acoustics were pretty shot - tho that was in some ways alleviated when Nick 'really' cranked the shit out of the system near the end. (why this hadnt happened at about 12 I have no idea) The drinks were decent and the crowd was mostly dudes. I hope Nick really loves Boulder like he said he did, cause in large part there really should have been way more people there. Crappy advertisement I guess, and if the 2 for 1 thing was more apparent then more should have shown.

I am always concerned when it comes to live PAs. WOW didnt whip out a band or something - probably a really good idea - but they were still spot on and didnt pull any 'DAT tape scramble'.

I wish that we woulda gone, coulda split the price o' the tixs seein as it was a 2/1 Thats awesome that the PA went well, I'm sure that they played 'Melt' as well

Ya know what they shoulda done to get more attendance -- 18+!!! Clubs can't do anything about ages cause it's state laws and you can't fight the government, but places like theatre venues and show venues should find out how in the hell to work 18+ shows!!! I would have definitely been there and probably a LOT more people if it would have been 18+! That's the biggest crap I've seen recently, but whatever....

attendance would have been way better if the weather wasn't so shitty either...

Nick also dropped a badass remix of Hybrid - Still Awake...one of my favs.

ps. the weather was fine inside! heh|

well yea I can understand that you don't like the "stupid little kids" but don't you feel bad for the 18 year olds (and younger for that matter) like me that are knowledged in trance/electronica and just want to go see and listen to the DJ!?

Yeh but at the same time we were all underage at one point. It sucks balls to miss crap like that, but its all the cooler when you finally hit 21. Plus theres always less of a hassle when everyone has to be drinking legal - ie they let you leave and come back in.

Maybe it isn't really the clubs/venue's fault at all, is what I see but rather our crappy government's fault for creating laws back in the 1700's that had stupid crap like no drinking under 21, unlike every single other country in the world, and now stupid laws that force clubs and venues to not allow people to come in or out or do certain stuff like that... It's not there fault that they have to abide by the rules and laws that our country's government has created

well actually, as late as the 1970s 18 yr olds could still drink. Wyoming was the last state to legally allow that age (tho places like NOLA make the law somewhat redundant).

how does the govt enforce drinking ages? by withholding highway funds if you disobey!

its shitty, but not some archaic thing out to fuck you. sure, the religious undertones contained within the law might be unsettling, but then again you can always visit other countries. countries where there is no drinking law - or others that maintain much more expensive or restrictive policies. and i know that drinking may not just be what you are after, but you can draw parallels with openness to drinking and these kind of parties|

AFAIK the drinking age limits were put into place during the 70's...not when they wrote the constitution.
