| Originally posted by Moongoose Also, i think this news bit explains everything about australian motor racing. V8 fans face slab limit at Bathurst 1000October 6, 2009 V8 fans will again be limited to one slab of beer a day at this year's Bathurst 1000 car race. Police will be focusing on reducing alcohol-related crime when petrol heads descend upon Mount Panorama, Bathurst, in NSW's central west, this week. For the third year running, adult race-goers will be limited to bringing one case (24 cans) of full-strength beer or one block (36 cans) of light or mid-strength beer each day. Restrictions also apply to one case (24 cans) of pre-mixed drinks a day or one cask of wine up to four litres. Combinations of the options will not be allowed. |

my personal favorite...
boostlogic-powered 2jz-gte w/ 6m getrag
runs a 10.6 trap @ 141, stock-bodied
Fuck that, theres a viper directly behind it, but mroe to the point an F575M right next to the viper...thats a car!
and yet the lexus is faster than all of them. sleepers are so much more fun than the obvious showman's car imo, i mean until you hit the track...
(ok i am a bit biased since i used to have the same car
)
I like sleepers, if i ever have enough money to pull a project off i have a plan in my head for the ultimate sleeper (for me) however, for true driving pleasure a fast car should excite you in every way possible and imo thats where the Ferrari and the viper win. Listening to the grunt of that oversized v8 or the howl of that hi reving v12 makes even driving to she shops for a pint of milk something you look forward to. The lexus just seems too...clinical for excitement like that.
clinical? well it is a daily driver if that's what you mean. i like pulling lateral gs as much as the next person, but i'm not going to be an idiot and try to apex every turn on my way to the grocery store. i will however play with some tool in a viper who thinks he's got me off the line or an m5 who thinks he can take overtake me when his lane ends ahead. but like i said, when it comes to the track, sure i'll take a porsche instead.
i don't know how many 10-sec cars you've been in, but this ride is hardly unexciting...
Worth noting that as an european i dont really care about 1/4 mile times
But what i meant to say was, ive been in an M5 @ 250 and ive been in a ferrari @ 50 (though it wasnt me who was driving the ferrari)...and even though i adore the M5, possibly my most favourite car in the world...no competition, just sitting in a ferrari was muh more of an occasion than going full throttle in the 500HP M5. There's just something about a pure breed sports car, its not just exciting when its going fast (the M5, no matter how wonderful it is, @ 50kph its no different than any other 5 series) its exciting always, even if you're doing nothing more than waiting for the lights to change.
That might be just me though.

So why did you get rid of your SC, Rich?
at the time i needed the monies, the v8 was costing me too much in gas (back when gas was over $4/gal), not to mention the tires i went through and i figured it wouldn't be long before i was back in a newer i6 sc. then i realized cars are a money pit and i didn't have the money for it so now i drive an avalon. it's ugly but whatever! i get 30mpg and i can fit my whole life in the trunk. not to mention cops never suspect me of anything no matter how much dirt i do behind untinted windows

| Originally posted by Moongoose Back to germans. Yesterday the brand new Audi A8 was revealed. Seriously, brand new? Could have fooled me from the pics. By now you've probably guessed that im not nearly as excited by this as i was from BMWs last unveiling (the 5er). That at least looks a bit different than other cars it makes (save for the interior which is almost the same as in the 7 series...which is good, because thats one awesome interior). The new A8 though looks to me like they just took the a4 and put the photocopier on enlarge (save the front and rear lings which were nicked from the a5). Anyways, heres some pics http://www.km77.com/fotos/Audi/A8_2010/index.html Still prefer the 7 series or the S class. |

Also, late-breaking - Fritz is out as GM CEO. I think it's a good move. Why fire Wagoner and replace him with a 25-year company vet? They need new blood like Ford did 5-7 years ago when Mulally took over.
I saw my first Golf GTi Mk6 on the road yesterday. It makes my Mk5 look like shit.
Especially since it was graphite, the best colour and an option which they didn't offer for the Mk5.
