The big pitchers duel was yesterday, DiceK vs. Sabathia.

how funny is it that the nets were sold because they couldn't get an arena built in NJ, and the new Newark arena is going to be done before they even start building the arena in BK.

Yeah, that game was a gem. Finally a quality start from Dice-K, he had really been struggling.

Jerz - mlb.tv is really worth it. I picked up the premium package after the break and it is sahweet.

it does have its draw backs though...for instance there is a blackout on all saturday daytime Yankee games...Fox have the rights to these games although they dont transmit them.....

yeah...that's stupid....why don't they just use the fox tv feed? Or for each local area blackout, they can use the local tv feeds (and build in the subscriber fees) that way they aren't screwing the local networks of their advertising or other fees.

Its the same with MLB Extra innings...They will not show daytime games on a Saturday...What makes me mad though is that fox choose to transmit paid programming rather than the games....

i've used MLB TV premium outside of the country and yes, it's sweet as hell

it's a great feeling to see the "nationally televised blacked out game" online

we got the whole package and can't watch blacked out games on either..its nothing to do with the provider,,it's because fox will not play ball and sell the rights to games that they have no intention of showing...

we're up 14-9 and tito feels that okajima needs to come in to pitch the 8th. Here's hoping he brings papelbon on to pitch the ninth.

Aaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Bugger Off....But before you do,,why are we getting slaughtered by Kansas City?????.....

Tito's as bad as Torre for trying to fix things that aint broke...Glad to see that the Sox put some runs on the board though...

Well, ya can't win em all and by taking 3/4 from Cleveland we've helped make the wild card race a lot closer for you guys.

Further, having watched Cleveland for 4 straight days I can safely say that they're not that great. Carmona & CC are both very solid but with the exception of Byrd they really don't have anyone else who can pitch. Westbrook sucks and Lee has given up like 26 runs in his past 4 starts. Just abysmal numbers. Plus, and nobody told me this, it looks as if Haffner has forgotten how to hit.

hmmm...i remember saying something about that.

Additionally, I just have a feeling that the M's and the Indians are going to fade. The indians staff is too weak, and the M's are mediocre on both offense and pitching.

Posted by Vlad on Jul-27-2007 07:18:

Todays loss I consider a mulligan because it was Igawa pitching.

haha yup, good call on your part. I think if the Yankees win 75% of their games from here on out they'll take the wild card.

We're 7.5 games back with 61 games left to play and you are so sure that we're gonna scrape through by taking the wild card...I love your Boston spirit sir but deep down inside you are a little worried....

Ps...what is your name....

I'm more than a little worried. Once you replace Igawa (who is terrible) with Hughes (who is anything but) you'll have a very solid rotation. That said, I was very encouraged that we took 3/4 from the Indians. I was worried that you'd be able to trim the lead to 5.5 or 4.5.

My name's Ben.

oh before I forget, I thought picking up Molina was a really smart move for you guys. It minimizes the amount of offense you lose when Posada doesn't catch plus it allows you to keep Posada fresh and keep his bat in the lineup when you let him DH. Good stuff.

Did anyone catch the debacle with the A-Rod 500th home run baseballs..Fucking hilarious..It turns out that if he hit his 500th last night it wouldn't have counted due to the fact that we have an unfinished game with the Orioles still to play...

Also every time he came to bat the balls had to be swapped for verification purposes,,this was strange cos they kept walking him..Also he fouled a couple off into the crowd...It's kinda complicated and I haven't got the vocabulary to explain it proper...I'm sure James can elaborate..

They are doing the same with the Barry Bonds balls. The umpire carries specially numbered balls to use for those at bats so that whoever gets the balls, they can easily be identified. Im sure once the ball leaves the park, the umpire makes a note of which # ball it was that was hit. Im not sure if the balls are also signed by someone for verification purposes as well.

Things get really weird if A-Rod homers in the make up game with the Orioles tonight. If he did, that would mean his 500th homer occurred two days ago against the Royals since this make up game is essentially taking place "in the past."

That would make some random Royals fan very lucky. Baseball's such a weird game.

Then what though Ben???...Do they retrieve the 499 ball or do you think that they took this into account and already have...Cos I don't think they did...

Posted by steven-neil on Jul-27-2007 23:39:

That was possibly the most exciting two innings of baseball that I have ever seen....

The yankees don't need to take 75% of the games remaining. That would give them 99 wins this season, which is probably enough to take over the AL east. I think the yankees need 92 or 93 total wins to take the wild card. That's 38 wins or 63%.

I agree. We have to lose some games, so doing it when igawa is pitching is fine for me. I'd rather lose games i think we're going to loss anyway.

Agreed....molina is a quality catcher who could start for many teams. This is one of those little moves that will stay under the radar but wil pay off hugely. Hopefully we can keep him for a few years. it may lengthen posada's career because molina can fill in and we don't lose too much, so putting him in more than every fifth day is an option.

Cashman makes alot of bad moves, but this was surely one of his better moves.

James,,don't listen to Ben..He's trying to do some Jedi mind trick bullshit on us....We're gonna win the Al East...Don't let him get inside your head dude...The wild card is not an option for us...
