Haha thats a sweet sounding beat no kidding. Blast it with no mercy. The style is so upbeat yet mellow, its impossible not to like it, im planning on hitting on some grannies blasting those sweet nudisco sounds "you heard that somewhere back in the days didnt you Eleanor? Hop in hot mama, lets go shopping for depends and polident, there's a special on prunes at the corner market!" hehehe thanks for the props Kadamony. Might have some good stuff for you, there's a strong chance you already know that track, im sure its in your strings, one of my summer tracks for sure:

Shazam - Luckier

Posted by kadomony on Apr-11-2010 19:44:

ah yes i do know that one. its right on the verge of funk and shazam's more electro stuff.

Agreed 100%. Engin's got some sick stuff. Gotta love "the Noodleman" too, the dude's insane.

Im sorry, not trying to have a go at you or anything, but this edit is lazy childs play. I love the original, and I like this edit, but check out the original if you haven't already. Elgin is responsible for none of the "magic". A looped groove, thicker kick n filtering doesn't make him special.

You actually do have a point, in fact, you're right. Its an issue still discussed how easy these edits are made, low work are put into it. For Engin, his sample/track selections are crazy, legendary classics embellishing them and putting them out there. But yeah as i mention on my blog, it does seem like he didnt do much, but im a sucker for melodies and an easy target: always was and always will a 70's-80's dude,so this is great for me. None the less, you are absolutely right. Last fence of defence for them maybe: i'd say about 60-70% of these tracks are often downloadable and for free on soundcloud (i presume when they judge very low editing was made and didnt want to be approached to pay the "royalties" (not sure its the proper term) to the artists/label. Yeah, could also be just to spread it around faster.)

Edit; You actually do have a point...Pointy.........ok yeah that was lame.

that's exactly why i enjoy his edits. the originals don't need much touching up. all i want is a little kick and filter. a lot of W+L stuff just ends up being the original track with the soul sucked out so as to make it dj-friendly at the expense of music.

Agreed on Pointy's and Johny John's point, but there called edits for a reason.
It's the remix 'accreditation' which would make it a different story .

You are also correct.

Superduper.

And even though its not disco 4x4 related...DJ Mitsu The Beats' "A Word To The Wise" LP on this same label is very tasty. Worth checking out if you like ya hiphop.

I liked ya posts Cherry n Jon. This whole "edit vs remix" thing...it just annoys me a little as idiot people I meet out rave on and on about a certain producer being the illest when all they've done are a few cheap edits. They're making names for themselves off these edits, and more often than not, the credit from the general public isn't going in the direction it should.

I know what you mean. The producers are also at fault. For example, Lee Curtiss - The Glow is basically the first loop in Change - The Glow of Love plus a filter and a few more synths

and Soul Clap - Dreams of Tomorrow (to be released?) is basically this one with a kick and extra bassline.

I just don't know how, as a producer, you can call these tracks your own with a straight face?? There's almost no good original funk being made these days. Whenever I hear a good groove from a current producer, I start searching for the better track made back 30 years ago

I don't get it either, drives me mad. Didn't know that about the Lee Curtiss track either, I really like that one

Back on track...
