the penalty was technically correct...it was not a blatant dive as some ppl r saying...the tackle left the italian player in an awkward position...either he tries to regain balance (had he not fallen he would have hit the defender with his leg) and risk losing the ball or fall and win the foul. he had initially evaded the tackle but the defender was lying in his way and he had to choose one of the above options.
stuff like that happens all across the field...not all fouls are given coz of 'actual' contact...most ppl anticipate the challenge and dive/fall to avoid injury to them and the other player or just to win a free-kick.

had the italian "swan-dived/fallen" then he wouldve had a free-kick outside the box but he took his chance.

That was definitely a penalty; I hate it how some Football noobs think that wasn't a foul!!
If a defending player prevents an attacking player from getting the ball while the ball is in the attacking player's possession, it is a foul .It can be any sort of a body contact which blocks the attacking player. And since it was in the box, it�s a penalty.
If the defender hit the Italian player then it would be a red card since it'd be one-one, but because his tackle was clean the ref didn't show any cards.
Gutta say that was a very smart call from the ref.

Hmm... i support Brazil but that last goal was definitely offside. Ghana got robbed on that one. Once again this world cup's refs prove just how terrible they are

Ghana is outplaying brazil by pure speed and force. They are defending outside their zone, trying to keep Brazil within their half. Unfortunately, this is leaving a huge hole at the back which you can't have when you are facing brazil, because well, as the score shows, Brazil will rape you without you knowing what happened. Ghanna is playing well and even with Brazil's level of play not being up to their standard, they are still winning 2-0 lol. That second goal was offside though.
