Robert Miles - Children. I heard it and then went out and bought the CD.

Bexta - Skirmish EP. The hard banging flavour of trance that I still love (even tho i have grown to love more styles than that now).

System F - Out of the Blue. One of the first real trance tracks I heard, and while it's not my fav, its impact is obvious.

Storm - Time To Burn. 'Nuff said. Still a huge track every time I hear it.

BT & Paul Van Dyk - Namistai about last year

  • Barber's adagio for strings (avb remix?) - this was a killer
  • robert miles - children, of course. Heck this song made it to the local radio stations, which is quite something considering there is no more dance music (except hip hop, thats another story).
  • Sylver - Turn the tide: probably not the first, but thats a song I heard TOO MUCH TIMES when it came out. Im going crazy because of this song.
  • one song from astral projection, cant remember the track name

turn the tiiiiideeee (argh )

heh turn the tide...i liked that song when i first heard it a while ago.

The Prodigy - Fire back in 1992 got me into electro and old skool, and it all went from there.

was wondering if youre still an avid fan of the prodigy, got all of their albums and what not?

It all begun with classics as Robert miles - children, Push - universal nation, Delerium - Silence. Had to be arround '99 when I heared those tunes for the first time, at least that's what a still remember from those days, been a while you know At that time I didn't even now what kind of music it was, but I really liked it.

Furthermore I also got inspired by the energetic tracks of Darude, think is was arround 2000 or something when it came out and of course alice deejay in those days. Here in Belgium you had groups as Milc Inc. who also had a certain influence on me.

But it really started with a event in Belgium called Yellow fever a couple of years ago, where I saw Svenson en Tisto spinning (was in 2001, if I remember well). That was the actual start of my love for this kind of music.

More Years, clubs, events as antwerp is burning, brussels is burning, yellow fever,.....later, I'm kinda hocked to it Nowadays I have a huge respect for AvB: his producing, his djskillz, his ASOT show and the person he is. Really down-to-earth guy, met him in antwerp and I must say my respect for him has even increased. If I compare him to testo I must say the last one changed to much, tijs still has my respect for his skillz, but the person tisto changed bit in a negative way imo.
Also Ferry is one of the better DJ/prod in the trance scene imo and of course our M.I.K.E.

Also the Hard-trance scene is very interesting with the tunes of Flutlicht,S.H.O.K.K., dumonde and cosmic gate and many many more...

I'm happy I discovered Trance because it's the only kind who provides me goose bumps and cold shivers

Underworld - Born Slippy for me........

soon after that i went rummaging through my sisters CD collection and
found some M.O.S. stuff, cranked it on, thought it was top and it went from there (I do feel that M.O.S. as gone down hill over the last few years however )

Dont have a clue when that was
Shep

Robert Miles - Dreamland

I was living in Portland, OR in '94 and driving to Seatle every weekend for parties. My friend brought this CD on one trip and I was hooked to trance.

It wasn't even Children that got me, it was tracks like Fable and One on One (Thanks Sam for these vinyls )

Nu-NRG - Dreamland ... 2001?

In 2000, it was a true hit in Holland back then

Dance

Tune that made me go wild:

Speedy J - Pullover

Posted by daffodil on Jul-02-2003 19:40:

the robert miles cd, dreamland. the first song (children?) got me hooked about 4 years ago and i still love listening to it. i know it's old, but i would love to hear it played in a club it's funny, songs since then that have really hooked me have a similar idea with the melody (like solarstone -- seven cities).

I can't remember the exact date but Dj tiesto's remix of ayla such a good track.

Same here. One day, while surfing on Kazaa, found a MP3 called "Paul Van Dyke - Dyk Technik", decided to try it... and became addicted.

BTW - In fact, that was the first CD of VDT. Mint.

Sash! feat. Rodriguez - Ecuador!!!!

When I heard Dune - Hardcore Vibes and Can't Stop Raving from one of my cousin's CD's back in '97? Also with Robert Miles Children.
When I was like 10 I used to love DJ Bobo , so you can call that beginning

Posted by Grahf on Jul-03-2003 20:37:

For me, it's gotta be Delerium - Silence (DJ Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise Mix). I'm surprised more people haven't cited it, actually.

The 1999/2000 trance sound will always hold a special place in my heart.
