Personally, I think a HUGE factor that affects, (if not to completely determine), the outcome and quality of your night at such parties is who you're with. Now, you said you were with your own group and such, but keep in mind the big over-hanging theme of the night, in the VIP room: TA Invasion!!! (Don't get me wrong, I know it was for all to enjoy - rightfully so.)

I've partied solely with TA's, solely with non-TA's, and both together. Fun was had in all situations, but parties with TA's (with or without non-TA friends) have always been a blast for me. The music could've been sub-par, the rest of the crowd could've been listless, but the eminent TA vibe made everything sublime. I don't think every single trance party that has taken place has been amazing. (You had mentioned having a beef with people saying that.) When some people describe a seemingly not-so-great party as being 'amazing', I would say that they're focusing on the fun, vibe, and friends that made the crappy music or 45 degree weather seem a bit more insignificant.

Anyway, before I babble on more than need be, my point is that I think you should get to know some (more) TA's. Your view on and attitude towards partying (including parties like the one we're talking about) could very well change. I'm not telling you to change, but rathing encouraging you to get a taste of our (TA's) vibe. If you catch the bug, you'll understand all this babble of mine quite well.

No need to rush. Get to know the bunch at your own pace. Above all, HAVE FUN!!

Wow Pris, I couldn't have said it any better. It's the truth. I've only been around since early April and I already feel like I belong. I have to admit, TA's make everybody feel welcome (even my roomate on Friday night admitted that they were all nice) I've definitely caught the bug

Exactly. I remember attending my second TA party early this year, not knowing more TA's personally than I could count on my two hands. There were all these friendly people (TA's, of course) smiling and laughing, saying 'Hi' and introducing themselves, giving hugs, handshakes, even drinks, etc. Then some more like Chris, Allan, RJ, Nat, etc. who happily toured me around and introduced me to so many more fellow TA's. It's absolutely awesome. Where else could you possibly receive a better reception from strangers and recently befriended people alike?

I do love the crew.

Likewise! Along with making me wonder why people couldn't just be more like that in general throughout regular, everyday life... (We know it's not hard! )

i sometimes think its because its hard to find others that share such a passion for the same kind of music that is generally deemed as migrane noise

It's not really all that much about the music. You should be respectful and kind towards people anyway, regardless of what music they like.

People need to smiiiiile more, too. ... You get the point.

honestly people, were you? the system i went to on friday was more than a let-down. the bouncers were assholes, making my friends and i pay a "reduced" 10$ cover, even though it was well before 11:30...

yes .. it must have been a different Systems than the one i was at the other nite ..

it's a bummer that you had to pay some cover despite the fact that:

A. the organizers & volunteers of this event were doing this out of their own charity and goodness to TA.

B. the TA DJ's were playing for free for the enjoyment of everyone there.

C. there WAS ACTUALLY A HEADLINER IN THE MAIN ROOM!

I mean yeah, ur entitled to ur opinion about the event as is anyone else. I will admit the night wasn't perfect either as are most events, but your criticism i felt was quite abrupt and you expressed very little appreciation to the people who actually worked real hard to make the event possible in the first place.

anyways, i don't wanna sound like i'm hating on you cuz i'm not, it's just that like many of the other people here have already said, it seems like you were judging certain aspects of the party that weren't meant to be what the party was essentially being thrown for.

and wtf .. u dun find DJ_Hordash sexy ?!? U LIE !

and then we can all sing camp songs.

Btw, what camp song do you want to start with, kiddo?

Jeebus, another review thread gone flamewar...

I've only got two things to say:
1. A person is entitled to give a bad review, I myself was not having *the* best party of my life. But...
2. If you make stupid, ignorant comments in that review (i.e. about the people being ugly, and frankly, I thought the crowd was way "better looking" than most Guv nights), expect to get burned for it.

As for people who complained about not getting in free, let's not forget that it WAS a headliner night, and John DID warn everyone to get there early. It sucks, but quit bitching, you could have avoided it.

There were problems, but all in all it was a damn good party. Now can we please get back on topic and stay there?

Posted by Skipper on Jul-07-2003 22:06:

glog...lol. Just shut the fuck up. Seriously. "There were ugly people" ? I don't consider myself ugly, or my boyfriend ugly, or many/most/all of the people on this board to be ugly, and we were there.

So you insult the crowd, you've insulted us. Please do not continue to wonder what our problem is with your review.

then again, not everyone can look like Fabio like i do :P

thats all folks

1) So what if there are 40 year old chinese men there? They have just as much right to be there as you do.

2) "and some ugly UGLY people... i'm not necessarily saying anything about TA's..." Do you honestly think saying "i'm not necessarily saying anything about TA's" makes your comment less cruel and disrespectful? I don't understand how people can be ugly in the first place. Just because people don't look the way YOU like that doesn't make them ugly

3) You obviously made no effort to get to know any of us yet you come on here and you dis our DJs who worked their asses off to ensure we had a good time. What kind of "TA" are you? If you want to be part of this community you must not only have love for the music but also for the community itself.

Maybe you're new and you don't know this but if all you want is to see "beautiful people" and "flashing lights" don't come to a TA event. You'd be better off going to some gino club. Now I'm not saying TA events don't have any of the above but our events have a lot more... its an experience!!

Sure they exist... just not on this side of the ocean, my friend.

And just for the record, I go to System because of the great music and world-class DJs, not to pick up hot chicks (because there are none, well, except for the bartenders), or to enjoy the trippy lights and lightshows (since I prefer darker atmosphere with my music)... and that's exactly why I loved that night @ System!

Posted by tatgirl on Jul-08-2003 00:19:

Sorry- I just wanted to get the pics up online b4 posting anything else. I've been away all weekend, and had a busy as hell day today. I'm still without a home computer, so I can't really read thru all the reviews right now.

Had a great time Fri nite, and it especially had to do with the company I kept- 1st hanging w/all the TA's at the club, and then the after-party w/RyanM & his roommate Michael. (< looks like we'll be making this a regular thing, especially since we're practically neighbors).

I missed Mecha's set, and came near the end of Mute's set. Popped in & out of the room all night, cuz, let's face it- I'm popular. Had many a person to go see. Esp. loved the mix of Smashing Pumpkins that Vagrant was dropping. Hernan was also doing a really good job out in the main room. Thought Eso & Walter Mindz also did a great job.

Got to finally meet Waxen (hey momma!) and the Broad. There was lotsa body part grabbing and middle fingers flying all nite, all in good fun. I also met DJ Jelo in the main room- nice guy.

And no, TranceLudak's wife is NOT Partyprincess. You should all wash your mouths out with soap for saying so.
