Versatile
1 : changing or fluctuating readily : VARIABLE
2 : embracing a variety of subjects, fields, or skills; also : turning with ease from one thing to another

I guess if you're talking about #1, then yes, he is "versatile."

However, if you're trying to apply #2, then all a DJ does is spin records and CDs. Again, I'm sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but owning a few different genres of records and being able to beatmatch at more than one speed doesn't necessarily demonstrate exceptional versatility - I'm sure most DJs can spin any genre, they just choose not to! They prefer one over others. The versatility and talent of a DJ essentially comes down to his/her mixing skills, which again, Mark Oliver is totally competent with, but not spectacular like PvD or Adam Beyer.

Now if we were talking about a producer who could track all different kinds of tunes and make them all sound kick-ass, then you might have something.

Ah well... I won't drag this on, you guys are all free to admire whomever you want - I'm just saying that the average clubber from outside Toronto probably doesn't consider him a superstar (which is what this thread is about), that's all. I did NOT say he was a shit DJ! Of course he isn't! If he was shit, we wouldn't have the biggest clubs in the city hiring him as resident.

I'll let fantom speak for himself, but I have to add that that comment was bloody hilarious considering who it was directed at.

I didn't respond to the comment 'cuz I didn't get it... might be a lack of sleep on my part, or a lack of clarity on his part, but I just didn't get it.
