Sure, it helps if you've heard a lot of music, but these contests are all unique and it depends on who made the samples. Styles differ and if it happens that someone's particular tastes match up with a contest then they're bound to do well. And luck comes into it to an extent because nobody can know every song. Then again, the more music you have, the more chances of you getting lucky.

Actually, I'm just a nerd who has no friends, so I spend all my time on music instead. Plus that I tend to remember all sorts of random facts about the music I love (they don't call me The Label Nerd for no reson )

ROFL! Where on earth would you get the idea that I run a label?!?! I have no idea whatsoever on how to run one, and no connections whatsoever to get one up and running. Like I said, the reaosn I remember all this is cos I'm a nerd who spends way too much time on this and has no friends. That's it.

hehehe...well whats his name said that you did...its always hard to tell when someone is being serious or not on the internet so i just suppose ask hehehehe...

So, will I one day be able to do a quick (two-week or so) ID contest? Not anytime soon though ... I'm pretty sure you guys will get 98% of the tracks ... I just have a plan, to see if that ID contest will attract more people to this contest. I have a lot of mainstream/well known trance music in my collection, so out of 50 IDs I'd say many people could get at least 40 ... there will be a tie-breaking procedure in case of a tie

heheheh same goes with me...if i ever get a chance to make one of these contests...the tracks will either be give aways or no one will have any idea what the hell they are hehehe...

i'm eagerly awaiting the names of 44 (been driving me crazy i know it!!!) and 50...that is a nice little tune...

By the way - Floorfiller - Sand Leaper and others, since you TAs have massive music collections, you wouldn't happen to have the track in my sig, do you? I so badly want it, have been looking for it for some time, and saw the vid for it again yesterday, drives me insane

Yea, I know, it's a tough one ... I have a video recorded from TV, yet for over 2 years that's the track that has been bugging me the most - the most wanted track in my list! Oh well, thanks for trying, Sand Leaper!

Sand Leaper - thanks, by the way, that CD's cover on gemm.com is a image part in the video for that track! So I might as well buy the CD! Maybe the TV mislabeled the track or something ... thanks a lot, I didnt see the cover for that CD before!

Well well, the contest is finally over as of a few minutes ago. Looks like nobody managed to catch Sand Leaper although some people did manage to come respectably close. Glad to see nearly a dozen sent in results in the end, hope the selections weren't too too obscure overall. Anyway it was fun compiling it and more fun watching people try to guess them.

edit: by the way, I noticed that you all said that all of MIKE's tunes sounded so similar after struggling with Sector 7 - Night Stop. If they all sound so similar, then how come noone ever complained over the same problem when they heard Dark City - Destination Space?

That was fun (even though I only got 9 pts). I'll have to look into getting quite a few of those songs as a lot of them were amazing

Any idea when the next challenge will be out?
