People may have tried to soften your stance, but 7 pages of replies hardly would of followed.

spine melting? since when the fuck did I say that? Inflamatory or not...it CAN kill you. I'd like anyone to tell me it can't. That's my whole point here, if you go back and READ.

That's it. I'm going to personally call Paul Davenport and ask him to give you even MORE work, reading, essays and so on.

At least that way when you talk about something you'll at least have a foundation of knowledge to backup what you're saying.

E does cause damage to your brain but not as much as regular aging does. Most of the effects are transient and in fact there has been no reportable studies showing long term damage. All effects have been show to be transient. Studies done on retired clubbers in the UK show no significant deficits after 2 years (except it was really hard to find subjects that had taken only E or speed). MDMA on its own is a pretty safe bet, you can't even overdose on it because once the receptors are saturated the rest is excreted through you body functions. You can only get so fucked up and you can't go beyond that. And why would you want to?

Drinking on the other hand, damages your liver because the alcohol can not be excteted until it is metabolized by two different enzymes. Except that one enzyme creates a poisonous chemical very fast while the second enzyme metabolizes the poisonous compound into water but the second enzyme does not work as fast as the first one and you get a build up of poison (you body doesn't like it and that's why you feel sick when you drink). Not to mention what it does to your brain. It floods your entire brain with a mixture of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters that affect everything in the brain. You brain doesn't know what to do so it shuts down. 5-HT, the neurotransmitter that MDMA is linked to, is only in one system of the brain and cannot be found anywhere else. So you have alcohol with global damage (brain, liver, heart, etc) where as you have MDMA, smaller area of action.

The problem is that when purchasing MDMA, people usually get some funky combination of MDMA, METH (also not as bad as we are made to believe), crystal METH (a fucked up derivative of METH) and various cutting agents and or substitutes. This is why you have testers, this is why you have to be informed and this is why some people don't take the risk at all and I commend them for that. Its great that you don't do drugs but why must you put down others that are smart about it and able to make their own decisions.

How to find a trustworthy dealer? Pretty much impossible and takes a lot of time. You have to ask the right questions and if they are not willing to answer them for you then you can trust them. If a dealer doesn't know anything about what they are selling then they should not be in the business at all.

Drugs are not 100% safe. Walking across the street is not 100% safe. Nothing in life is 100% safe. Get over if and live your life. Pick the risks you want to take and don't take the ones that you feel are wrong. But don't preach to others what risks they should be taking. All you can hope is that they are educated well enough to know the difference between being stupid and knowing the risks involved.

I already have enough work...and I'm doing quite well thank you. Wouldn't you just love my 85 average?

At least you're kind of agreeing with me to some extent. I have repeatedly said I'm NOT preaching to anyone....I'm trying to substantiate why I PERSONALLY do not do those drugs and would never encourage anyone else do them either. But, as is the way on the Toronto TA board.....anyone with an opinion that goes against the grain, i'm getting flamed big time for it. But hey, whatever...I'm used to it. As I said, you guys seem to think you belong to a special, eltist breed.

OK. Why don't you let us know what sort of great studying you are doing at Western?

um no, I'm not saying that. A lot of people on here are in university and I'm sure they have a lot of work. But this is just one casual debate and I'm not going to write research this topic like an essay for school, because I have neither the time nor inclination to do so. Why? Because I don't really care either way...I'm not getting through to anyone and they aren't getting through to me. That's what we call stuborn and opinionated citizens.

You don't start an opinion in this manner tho.

I would like to see you write a thesis and defend it in such a manner.

I'm doing a 4 year, Honours History degree at Huron University College. I'm in my 3rd year and am doing my first of two senior thesis courses this year on the British Empire as it relates to Canada.

Ok wait...let me guess.....now everyone on here is going to start saying that History isn't a real degree and that an 85 average in a social science is a breeze, etc, even though it's quite impossible to achieve anything higher than an 85 or 86 in history at the university level.

a sarcastic comment on my part...though I personally do believe that people who do a lot of drugs (whether it be alcohol or harder drugs), have mental problems. Too much of anything is a bad thing...that comment does not apply to the person who takes something once in awhile. But you know, as well as I do, that there are people who go to events JUST TO DO drugs because that's what they do EVERY weekend. Those people are losers.

you don't have the time or inclination to read a few paragraphs on the topic but you do have teh time and inclination to repeatively post argument upon argument that is void of any proof to support your opinion.

nice one

But you are making it seem that you are referring to the people in this thread as these "losers" when they are in fact nothing of the sort. It seems like you are trying to raise your morality level above all of ours. Can you see how people can get defensive when you call them weak minded and losers?

I agree that going to clubs just to get messed up is wrong but going to dance clubs just to get hammered and pick up (I used to know many people that did this, thankfully not anymore) is just as wrong. Its a totally different low. I would not allow my friends to go to clubs just to get messed up and trust me, there isn't any people like that on this site (save some UKTAs maybe) since we are all here because of the music and not the drugs. That sort of thought should not even be in your head. Its a valid point but not to be made on TA. There is no one here that would choose drugs over the music. I have met most of these people and there is no one here that is only about the drugs, if there were, they wouldn't fit in and would not stick around and post.

No, I won't say that. But based on how you whine and argue continually I'd say you'd be much more at home going to Brescia.

Posted by charmscars on Nov-12-2003 18:43:

no one here is saying that drug use is 100% safe. i have no clue what your problem is and why you are argusing about all of this.

oi....here we go with the "you go to college hahaha" bullshit. No, genius....Huron College was established in 1863 BEFORE UWO (1878) and it was the first university in London and one of the three oldest in Ontario. It is now an affiliated college (or campus if you prefer) with the University of Western Ontario. It is well known for it's high standards.....nobody gets in with under an 84 or 85 average coming out of high school. If you want a Liberal Arts degree (English, History, Languages,etc)...Huron is one of the best universities in Ontario to go to.

UWO has 4 undergraduate campuses...Main, King's, Brescia and Huron. King's is the joke around UWO because it has one of the lowest standards in Ontario. People actually get into King's with less than a 75% average.

Satisfied?

yes.i never said anything about 'you go to college hahahaha' please read my posts w/ more care. i was actually curious as to what the school was b/c i had never heard of it.

Even if you did go to a collge i would never say anything rude. I don't look down on people for going to colleges rather than universities for your information.

Now if I were a female, I'd consider that a sexist remark since you're basically calling female students (Brescia is an all girl's college at UWO) whiners.

LOL, I found this in someone else's reply...

Yes, we've all heard about your awe-inspiring achievements in Honours History For Pretentious Ignoramuses at the University of Buttfuck Nowhere. Perhaps you've forgotten that half of TOTA is comprised of very high-achieving university students, often in the science sector?

I'll also point out that I know a few people myself who've easily obtained marks of 95+ in history courses.

But that's no matter, I'm sure your partially-completed history degree makes you an expert on medical science and narcotics, right?

Argh, can we just accept that this guy is a dolt and end the discussion?

95+ in history, english programs might happen once in a blue moon. It should NEVER happen at a respectable institution, and I'll tell you for certain that the highest mark that the professors will give at Huron College is an 86 or 87 at the VERY MOST. There are only four history professors at Huron and I've had them all over the last 3 years...NOT ONE STUDENT has EVER received a 90..even on some stupid little research assignment worth 5% of the overall mark. So maybe students do get 95+ at the University of Buttfuck Nowhere or the University of I Made It Up Because I'm Talking Shit (where your friend obviously goes), but it doesn't happen at a REAL University.

Maybe you should take a history course sometime and see how you do.
