yes its on this comp http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/syn/syn1cd009.html
sadly enough it will propably never see a 12" release. so I urge everyone to write to Synergetic records to force them to get this gem out on 12"

speaking of jay z lol

did you guys know that his song "big pimpin" sampled the 1957 track khusara khusara done by egyptian singer Abdul halim hafiz hehe

you can click HERE to listen to the sample lol

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Mar-20-2005 17:26:

oh speaking of which.. does anyone know what that fairly new house tune is that abasically samples an arabic song.. with vocals and everything basically a bassline and percussion is added.. i heard it once but i dont remember the details

fairly little to go on here lol

deep dish - 3 miles to paradise, out now, one of their newer productions, pretty nice bassline but the guitars don't really do it for me, vocals kick butt though. Not exactly middle eastern but Sasha - Rabbitweed would really fit in.
Peace

I'm looking for something particular in this category....its a song with a shimmering kinda sound, indian/arabic with this female vocalist singing (not words more like "sounds", at least not in the part i heard)...for those who watch HBO its in one of their adds these days (at least on HBO India)....i know this is kinda vague but if anybody can help it would be nice

Robert Miles - Release Me

Cirrus - Boomerang (29 Palms Polysynthetic Mix)

Not necessarily Arabic in nature, but I think it has a very desert feel to it.

Plus, all of Pete Lorimer's work under the 29 Palms alias is good, and this is one of his best. Give it a spin

Three Drives - Turkey 2000

Posted by JINN on Mar-29-2005 00:54:

like cass & slide - glad i ate her type or ofra haza

anyone know any good mixes by any DJ or any new tunes?

PS - i dont think rabbitweed like many of you said is a good example

There are so many (how about where GOA developed?), but here's one more recent one (compared to the really old stuff) that I like:

E-razor - India (Brainbug remix)

great, a cheesy trance track with a choir singing in latin, the language of the christian church for only about the last two millenia or so. how typically middle-eastern...you would be american, right?

a couple may have already been mentioned, but the tracks below...

deepsky - cosmic dancer (one of my faves)

Black Star Liner - Yemen Cutta Connection Dub
Jolly Mukherjee with the Madras Cinematic Orchestra - Kirwani

(the two above from http://www.freedb.org/freedb_search...azz&id=76102c0b - a good CD)

thievery corporation - lebanese blonde
bt - memories in a sea of forgetfulness
some remix (i think) of sinead o' connor - 1000 mirrors

bonu - qora tun - this track was given to me by a friend from kazakhstan, dunno how easy it will be to find but its seriously good.
