i dunno guys, im not really sure ure being fair to pvd. yeah, so you have named a bunch of tracks that were played at central park.... but central park was a much shorter set, and nothing about friday night, despite those repeats felt like central park, i just dont think it did! the thing is, pvd might have played those tracks but they were not what made his set.
and i dont think you can categorize anything as peak time.... thats kind of tough because his set really went through phases. it was quite energetic already after an hour and then it got really hard at 4, only to slow down again and get hard on a whole other level. if for you guys, the last hour ++ is peak time, i can understand your complaints... so he played wunderovoll again, jayron inc, shit like that..... but by freaking 6 30 i already had experienced a wonderfully new and diverse, super-intense pvd ride... so i wasnt going to complain. and he was full of surprises, like properly older songs, not recently old and worn out.... okay, not that many but enough. i am now sick as a dog so i have an unclear head....but im talking about born slippy and the couch and others, both released or unreleased. and to top it off, howells, sasha etc etc do not play any trancers during peak time. progressive trance does not count.... i mean some people dispute that theres such a genre in the first place.
and last but not least, there must be at least 15 records he played that no pvd freak from anywhere on earth can name. maybe someone who works for him directly, who can look through his shit freely.
sorry, dont mean to write a novel.... just my piece. i really dont think we should take away from such a good experience. its just how i feel. i dont think april or feb or central park even begin to compare.....
Jayme i partly agree with you, for PvD trainspotters it's very hard to discover some new tracks (IDs) in his Sets these days, but when u go to a PvD gig in Berlin for example, it's all about the vibe which he creates with the music, his homecrowd always goes NUTs.
It's more like, when the crowd goes crazy, paul starts to put on some unknown bangers combined with classics. I also presume that it's very hard to catch the "0ld sk00l" paul nowadays, when u r not living in Berlin, but that's ok. Give him some time, his album is out now, he'll stop his "promotion" sets.
From my Point of view it's important to know, what u want when u r going to a PvD gig, it's all about enjoying urself and having fun with ur friends & paul, it's all about interacting!

Just got back from NY and I thought PvD played the best set I've seen him play so far. The Nu-NRG tracks, Born Slippy, and Crush kicked my ass, as well as alot of the Hard stuff he played that I couldn't ID.
Roxy was packed, but I didn't think it was that bad, I guess I'm getting used to Avalon, Boston, that place is worse. It was hot, but I don't mind the heat at all.
Something that really pissed me off was parking. It took me 1:15 hours to find parking in that damn place!
Something really funny was when this kid came up to me, I was wearing a Vandit shirt, and he asked me if that was my DJ name, lol 
I laughed a little and explained him what it was

I gotta agree with most objective people here, not the ones that are easily amused by well-recognized tracks and squeal "OMG, I die!"... ugh.... 
The set was 5/10... He did play some great tunes but PvD was not his usual self. The set definitely lacked any flow, tunes were overplayed (if I hear "nothing but you again" I am going to kill someone - I swear!)... The place was packed like a mofo ... for a second I also could have sworn I was in Twilo... not because of the vibe but because of the tight-as-shit packed place. No room to dance, meathead factor was well above the tollerance level (like 300% over the norm) and for the first time in my life I felt claustrophobic! 
I don't know - for me it was one of "forgettable" moments... So many people wasted on all kinds of shit, scarry...
As an aspiring electronic musician, I find it sad that so many people use ilicit substances to appreciate the music. It almost makes me sad...
What also reminded me of Twilo is the fact that more than 50% of people seemed to be Asian...
Overall, I wish I didn't go on Friday and went to see Armin on saturday... but since I didn't get much sleep - Sat was out of the question for me.
I guess this was one of those times when Pure PvD could not impress the "purists".... sorry.

Paul van Dyk KILLED IT TONIGHT. Period.
He brought my emotions UP... than down... UP...than down!!! It was just an AMAZING set. The sound was f**king awesome, and the people were great. It made for one of the most memorable nights, EVER.

I have to agree with many of you here. Paul was at his best but the self promoting is a GIVEN no question about it. I think he did have the REFLECTIONS album cover at every one of his shows recently for a reason. The guy is on tour promoting his album I believe.
It will be a matter of a short time before he is back to his club self. The man is a chemist just like any other DJ on the 1's and 2's (or Final Scratch for that matter) and he feels the crowd. He even takes requests from the TA's in the front with him. He is very understanding of the crowd. You have to be since this is your bread and butter.
Like the guys doing the video displays sucked ass. If I seen the Apex DVD logo one too many times that was it. George Lucas says a movie is "50% sound 50% visual" so is a stage event like this one and they blew it. Sure the lasers were cool but how many times did I happen to be in the dark trying to figure out WTF are they thinking? Many. You can't be off key with this kind of music or any for that matter.
Getting back to the music. I think people expected Paul to be in a more rhythmic mode. Like a matching set of socks. There are sets that people want him to do based on their interests and there are those that are based on his interests. When people don't get what they want they say he sucked. When they hear what he wanted them to hear that's where the expression is found of himself. Look at it as mass hypnosis.
Reflections is a state of mind for him. Just like it was for Sasha and Airdrawndagger. So people say "aw his album ain't like how he plays live". Studio albums and mix albums are like apples and oranges to quote a lame phrase. So the same with studio albums and live sets.
People should just go and listen and see what the artist is painting sonicly. Hear what he is trying to convey and let him take you to where he wants you to be. If you have high expectations and he doesn't meet them you will be disappointed with what he is showing you.
PVD was great. He first 3 hours were rocking, and then he did his hour of prog to calm things down a bit. His fifth hour he started playing trance again, but it was more like an hour of fillers and nothing really amazing.
In the first hour of his set, PVD played some really good remix of Crush. It had no vocals but Crush was there, and it sounded much harder than the original or vandit dub. He also played some crazy remix of 4 O'Clock in the Morning that I've never heard.
