I dont like bush and much of America`s foreign policy but i think going into Iraq was a good idea. Were Saddams regime allowed to continue many more people would have died. Saddam is known to have committed genocide, incited wars, ruled Iraq as a tyrant killing any dissenters and the list goes on. He is the epitomy of `bad person`. The fact that he incited the Gulf war pretty much shows what his intentions are. That combined with the fact that he is, as stated above, not a good person makes it obvious that were he in possession of WMD the world would be at a significant risk. And not just America or the other allies home countries but Iran and Israel and other surrounding countries. It is a huge risk with almost obvious outcomes to let Saddam obtain WMD`s. There is proof that he has tried to make them before (i.e. chemical and bio weapon factories were found after the first gulf war).
Getting rid of this threat was, in my opinion, essential to the advancement of the human race and society.
America, China, Japan and South korea are having a diplomatically fkn hard time trying to work out the North Korea problem simply because a man almost as crazy as Saddam has WMD`s. While that man reigns thousands of people are starving, dying, being killed etc etc. And as of yet noone has worked out a way of getting rid of that risk. so to me the answers pretty obvious (only now mind you there is sooo much anti-american bandwagonism that i had to wade through before i could work out my thoughts).

i think it goes like this:

saddam very bad person + desire to have nuclear weapons and expand country + countries with WMD are impossible as of now to deal with diplomatically + high chance of obtaining WMD`s within the next ten years + many people will die from saddams reign anyway - people getting killed during the war - America`s influence on the oil industry = FUCK we gotta get rid of this dude and quick smart.... but damn i wish america would do it a bit more globally conscientiously.

and yes saddam killed like million of people in the 8 years during war against iran..but hey, guess who was giving the money and weapons and all the recources, so iraq could win that war?? USA! so basiclly usa has like 1 million of people on there concious..so we go rush USA tomrrow? and throw so called smart bombs on homes and schools?

and no, i hardly see a future at this current stage, look at afghanistan..you guys gave them freedom, but i have seen 0 aid so far till this day to that country..only thing what makes iraq so intresting is the oil reserves.

and your bashing massive for what he believes in. you are just perpetuating the cycle.

i'd agree that his respone to tall paul was uncalled for in his bashing him, but i doubt any of us here have gone thru the emotional stress of being in a war.

so instead of trying to bash him for his views why don't you try to understand them.

Moving on..... what do you think the best punishment for him will be? (saddam hussein!!!) I think a lot of the european countries want him to be tried in the UN courts or something like that, but then the US have said its up to the Iraqis to decide which is fair enough. Surely if.. which is inevitable i think.. found guilty of his crimes itll either be imprisonment or death? I find it weird as well that hes actually cooperating with the Americans.

Rubaiye, who met Saddam on Sunday, said the dictator remained "unrepentant" on his crimes.

He said: "I found a very broken man. He was, I think, psychologically ruined and very demoralised.

"His body language showed that he was very miserable."

Rubaiye, a member of Iraq's governing council, said Saddam did not show any remorse for his past acts.

But during interviews he said the captive often looked over towards US officials "as if he was asking the Americans to protect him".

He added: "He felt safer with the Americans. I think that indicates that probably he is cooperating with the Americans."

More information has been released about the capture of Iraq's former tyrant.

His first words to soldiers when he was captured were in English. He said: "I am Saddam Hussein. I am the president of Iraq and I want to negotiate.

But then what is there to negotiate? Lots of questions still to be answered and asked i think.
