I'm In For The Competition But How Do I Sign Up ? I Only Have A Few Days Left.

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Feb-28-2004 23:12:

The Same Way Everybody Else Signed Up, By Using Proper Capitalization And Asking To Be Added To The List

Cheers =)

I'm cool with the use of 128kpbs ogg files.

I have some ogg sets myself (off other people) and they sound fine through my setup. It just depends how you encode it I guess, I have heard some terrible sounding ogg files in my time...

Hmmm, DJ entries are now closed eh? 1st of March today

*pinch and a punch for the first day of the month*

Yap, first deadline reached. Start spinin' everybody!

Just finished a new set, and the mixing is pretty fuckin' tight if I dare say so myself...

Question: are we allowed to submit mixes we've posted on TA in the past?

No it isn't allowed, the mix has to be a new one

So what's the ftp server to upload our mixes?

Posted by mr_sick on Mar-05-2004 08:38:

It's the same as last one.

If a judge could pm to everybody the address, login & password it would help me a lot (judges can pm me to get the infos)

Posted by Bughy on Mar-05-2004 12:06:

Where ? And .. What ?

Man .. okez .. The SignUp is Off .. I`m in ... Where do i upload my mixes ??
And ... What Do you mean by ... Progressive ?? .. I can mix with .. i don`t know .. an example: Sasha , Paul Oakenfold , Delerium , Creamer And Stephane K .. It`s really important to answer me .. cause` i`m confused ..

Posted by mr_sick on Mar-05-2004 14:12:

If you want you can mix Sasha,... it's progressive...

Posted by DjCommisad on Mar-05-2004 19:56:

You can mix a bit of progressive, but really, this should be a trance mix competition. To allow one person to get away with doing all progressive, or all house or all goa or whatever, and get big ups for having a 'unique' set would be unfair in the spirit of the competition

This is supposed to be fun!

Posted by tvmann on Mar-05-2004 20:38:

It would be even more fun if we could put in anything. But trance it is. Although I've listened to so much music recently and they all borrow sounds from each other so the dividing lines become blurry.

Posted by john2 on Mar-05-2004 23:37:

Ehmmmmmmmm can anyone pm the ftp server

true. myself, like phill, dig progressive trance right now, but keeping it in one genre makes it easier for the judges and easier to compare. not only, as u said, does music swap sounds across genres, but so do styles. u could play house music for example in so many different ways. keeping it confined to one genre sort of forces us to experiment and dig and push ourselves to do the most out of whats available.. i know im digging a lot just to find tracks and sounds i like for this competition =D

at the very least, have some fun mate!

Sorry to interupt you, but i'm in ths competition for the first time. It's March 6th and no ftp link, or maybe i have to ask for it????

I'm asking because i dont know if i'll be able to upload when there will be sopme days left.....

Posted by DjCommisad on Mar-06-2004 09:50:

they haven't sent out the ftp to those new to the competition yet. be patient, they're working on it

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Mar-06-2004 20:09:

Aye...the judges are notorious for taking FOREVER to do stuff Patience will pay off...hell, the longer they wait to send the FTP info, the more time you have to practice your mixing

pmsl.

at first i thought you meant 'resent' that Phill. lol.

by the way, how do you feel judging a set with like ian van dahl and dj sammy and mashups of everything in between?

A mix set is an interpretation of the music as [b]YOU[/] see it, that's why except for the trainwrecks we would mix the same style music using different tracks and mix points.

My take is that if you want to inject something into the mix then go for it, just remember the name of the comp. is Tranceaddict MP3 DJ Mix, so we are kind of expecting Progresive Trance / Trance / Hard Trance and if you drop a killer pure Hip Hop set, your comp. score will probably reflect that. However if you can successfully pull off dropping some Hip Hop into a great progressive or trance track you are likely to score well.

I've seen mention here that we as judges should be more focued on ensuring that true Trance only is acceptable. I'm definitely not of that mindset, If you can successfully take trance and fuse new style elements into it, then you have taken the music in a new direction or to a new level. Remember we never would have gotten trance in the first place if people were not pushing musical boundaries ALL the time. Stop and think about your all time, TOP 5 killer mixes you have heard, Now think about why they are killer, its likely because some new element was subtbly delivered that you can't quite put your finger on but its there none-the-less. Think AVB's essential Mix, Sasha and Digweeds Delta Heavy mix, PvD's Berlin love Parade mix o year or two back?
