i've seen nothing else aside from this ..

www.lucidworld.ca

i went by there last week as well and the place looks really unfinished.. looks like someone couldn't hold their wad and jumped the gun on their openning date announcement..

WICKED! I love huge, spacious places...

I can breath...I can breath, and now even better with no smoking. It's all coming together now.

I'm just scared of the cover charge.

King

Well I am a true "Guvernment Groupie" but it would be nice to see another great club come to Toronto. The only downfall by the sounds of it is the 2pm close.....What is up with that???? How can we hear a good set from all our amazing DJ's if they have to shut it down at 2am. Anyways all the best to this club, it is always nice to have a nice place to party.

some sweet news!

Posted by PartyHarlequin on Apr-27-2004 12:32:

Hrm, now three clubs in Toronto with extreme venues; Boa, Guvernment and Lucid... Well we'll check out Lucid when it opens, but after Boa I'm gonna take a lot of convincing to switch clubs.

Posted by Jayx1 on Apr-27-2004 22:19:

If this place closes any earlier than 5 am it wont be seeing most people who they want to attract. Look for it to go all hip hop within 2 months if it closes at normal hours...

Posted by SgtFoo on Apr-28-2004 01:26:

I think we're all confusing the bar closing at 2am and the nightclub closing much much later.

All bars close at 2am (aka.. last call!)... When I dropped by for the latest info, everyone I spoke to and passed by had some kind of UK/european accent... they're not gonna close the place at 2am... it'll most likely be open the same hours as Guv. I doubt the owner is not smart enough to be direct competition for Guv.

and just because of this, i am now compelled to go .. !

Posted by PartyHarlequin on Apr-28-2004 13:33:

The question really though is who is Lucid going to be bringing in? and what will their mainstay music be?

Between Guv and Boa (the latter having a special event almost every week) who else is going to be showing up in Toronto?

Jeff Mills again would be nice as I missed him at Boa (I hate sickness).

Posted by baystreetboi on Apr-28-2004 17:38:

It should be noted that there is no individual "owner" of Lucid. It's owned by "Magicorp Entertainment", a publically traded Canadian company on the Toronto Venture Exchange (Ticker: MEI). So if you want, you could speak with your broker and "own" a part of it as well.

You know what's funny, I just remembered that yesterday while reading lexpert. It was in there somewhere I think.

I'm contemplating buying like 10 shares just to say I own the place lol.

you can thus claim ur small portion of a couch as VIP zoned ..

Posted by PartyHarlequin on Apr-28-2004 17:51:

I'm gonna bring a sign with me lol, "VIPs only" then in small writing beneath it "owner".

Heard a great slogan for a T-shirt.

"Only users lose drugs."
then below it

"Authorized dealer"

but it's the lack of USD's that i'm worried about. bwhahah!

Unfortunately in downtown Toronto the hotels can be rather pricy... but if you look around you can find plenty of less expensive short term stay.

But I've only stayed at two hotels in Toronto, the Park Hyatt and the Windsor Arms, both nice places but I have no idea about cost.

Posted by Jayx1 on Apr-29-2004 20:37:

You can get a hotel for $80-110 US depending on how much you want to spend. FOr $80 US (inc taxes) u can get a place like quality suites or Days inn. 110 will get you a downtown holiday inn. If you are willing to stay by the airport which is about 20-30 mins away you can get a place for around 60 US

Your US dollar gets you about $1.36 canadian and your friend's Euro will get about $1.61 Canadian.

Check www.expedia.ca for a good idea about overall rates.

If you are flying, fly to buffalo and drive 2 hours to toronto. You will probably save hundreds of dollars between all of you. Especially if JetBlue services Atlanta. Flying into Toronto directly costs way too much in taxes and service fees and base prices are usually higher in Toronto as well thanks to the near total monopoly that the Star ALiiance carriers have in Toronto.

As for guv. Regular nights are $10 CAN and $15 after 12... A freaking bargain if you ask me. Go on a saturday night unless you like hiphop.

Ok, so lucid is finally open...june 17th is the grand opening...i wonder if this place will be as good as the coverage...i want to hear from those who are checking it out!
