I used to do drugs about three years ago and sometimes I think about doing them again, but the last show I went to was so much fun without drugs that I think I'll stay sober from now on.

I've been into clubbing for about 5 years now. Did it for 2 years totally straight without even knowing anyone who was into taking. Then met my ex-gf at the love parade 2001, she was the only person i had trusted to give me something. So i did, and have been a light regular user ever since. For the past 3 years on average I'd say going out 2 weekends per month, maybe 4 clubs per month, taking 1 or 2 little ones each time. Occasionally K & C when it's offered I steer clear of weed, acid and shrooms.

Am into a range of genres, van dyk being my favourite, but like a bit of hard, psy, and some other stuff.

a night without is good, a night with, is special

by the way - for me drugs do NOT make the night. i could take exactly the same chems at a dnb night, I'd find it f*cking shite. Also, even with the right drugs, the wrong dance music can still STOP me going up. Hoovers for instance turn me right off - don't think that if you have a crowd totally off their faces, you can set the alarm off on your digital watch for them to have a good time

People, music, chems. All three contribute to a good night.

The drug "war" is one of the great failures of our time IMHO.

If we are to cite the malignancy of drugs to justify their illegality, then I am curious where alcohol and smoking fit into the picture.

Thousands upon thousands of innocent people are slaughtered as a result of drunk driving (funny not too many "after-school-specials" on that). Let us not forget the many more thousands who suffer from alcohol related diseases (cancer, cirrhosis, etc.)

Do you know the health and conomic costs of these two substances?

Yet let�s examine or compare the number of deaths attributed to say Ecstasy. The number is many orders less, yet our society is stubbornly focused on tackling this issue.

Ultimately, while I hate to play the conspiracy theorist I have a strong belief that the alcohol lobby exerts an extremely powerful influence on politics. Look at the situation through their eyes...when everyone is "rolling" at the flavor-of-the-month trance show are the bars packed w/ clients yearning for a long-island?

I'm not an advocate of drug use, but I find it rather absurd how we demonize the issue. Particularly offensive is the blatant scapegoating on the part of the government. While thousands CONTINUE to be killed on the highways, there is of course the necessity for an immediate crackdown on raves...

It wasn�t my intention to malign alcohol...just that facts are facts. People are so adamantly obsessed w/ drug use when alcohol abuse (which last time I checked was legal) runs rampant and KILLS far more people and is many times more hurtful to the economic process.

partially because...E is not as readily available to popular society, and is not as socially accepted as alcohol. So people are less prone to trying it.

If you think about it, E is produced under uncontrolled conditions, there is no guarantee about what is inside each pill. And despite this, around 2 million per week are consumed in the UK, and there are still very very few recorded seriously bad side effects of them (if there is, word gets round very quickly).

If E was produced under the strict conditions that alcoholic drinks are produced, with strict guidelines as to how much you should have, and warnings about all it's side effects (drinking water etc) there would probably be even feweer casualties from it.

Does the US have better anti-drug campaigns?

Could us UK ppl just not give a screw about such campaigns and prefer to make our own decisions?

Could it be that its like this because the clubber-to-square-mile ratio is considerably higher in the UK?

eh, I dont really care, its more prevailent over here, thus meaning more competition, ergo, better prices for me

XTC has the advantage of taking u into depression and ppl begin to think about it ... the result is moderate use with most users ...

I cant really speak for all americans but I can tell you that me and my circle of friends are not swayed by anti-drug campaigns. Rather my friends tend to look at current users, past users, and whather info is available.

yea, we don't use it. but ya know, its just our choice, just like its ur choice so rock on.

I think I just am jaded on the whole pill thing. I have one buddy addicted to them along with other things and it just makes me...i dunno, disgusted at pill takers. but thats just me, im not gonna try ot rain in on anyones parade.

but its not just edm fans who use drugs. if you think of it ALL KINDS OF MUSIC ARE CONNECTED WITH DRUGS even the ancients used them as part of their religion or which was always connected with music somehow. you think your mom qand dad never tried marijuana or lsd? think again. drugs are not the problem. the problem is the way they are used. if politics didnt have the head in the ass, then things would prob be better.

thing is about government campaigns, once you hear one bit of mis information from them, you're sceptical about anything else they have to say.

Also government campaigns aren't run for the good of society, they are run to get votes.

In the end you tend to value your own experience, much more than any 'official' sources - especially when official sources are blatantly biased.

and in regards to the whole drinking thing. If everyone who drank, started taking ecstasy everytime they would usually take a drink i assure you there would be more deaths. If everyone who smokes started taking a pill everytime they would normally light up a cig again there would be more ecstasy related deaths than there would be baccy related deaths. It simply isnt sensible to be comparing the two. (even though im doing so right now)

of course. Whether its considered an illegal drug obviously depends on what country you live in. I beleive it should be legal though.
