I wonder if it's certain brain characteristics that mean people like trance... maybe even somethign to do with genes? Definately, it has to be a brain thing if a lor people start loving trance it after doing drugs. |

I know heaps of people who love their music just like us... they're into rock and hip-hop... People have to be able to connect to the music... Old-sSchool hip-hop connected to the blacks... Hip-Hop is like the OPPOSITE of trance, it's no music/melody, it's just pure lyrics... and even the lyricists have shit voices... but urban blacks loved it, because the lyrics were somethign they could relate to.... Umm... I have a friend who was into Rage against the machine, and other non-commercial rock etc.... He's getting into trance now ( i lent him an album for a year, and he finally got used to it) The reason why trance hits hard is becasue it is designed purely to hit the heart.... It doesn't make much of statement, or pose a question.... It just manipulates the emotions.... that's purely what it's designed to do when it's being made... When u describe a track... a lot of people do it by describing their emotions... The reason why so many people aren't into it, is because it takes so god damned long to get used to... U have to sit their and get used to the repition... No-one is gonna sit there and put up with that, unless they're used to it... You can tell them all u want how good it is but they have no reason to sit their and actually listen to an album... Even if u MAKE them listen.... they're gonna listen to it thinking "THIS IS SHIT, IT'S GIVING ME A HEADACHE, IT'S SO REPETITIVE... THIS IS SHIT, IT'S JUST THE SAME THING... IT'S MAKING ME DIZZY... THIS IS HORRIBLE, IT SUX..."... when u start out listening to Trance, u have to TRY to enjoy it, and feel the music.... |

well, for me it is because:
- either i am happy or sad ( I listen to Trance)
- I can not drive in the city unless I have Trance music on, it keeps me from loosing my mind when I am driving behind an old man who can not drive
- I have to have trance when I am working out, If i am not then there is no purpose of working out
- I am tired of the people cursing in their songs try to make a stupid point about their whores, or about their woman, or about their lovers.
In Trance it is about express ur feelings from inside of you, it is just something u can not never replace.

For me it's because no matter what im doing, whether it be walking alone with my ipod, driving, sleeping, eating, doing stuff on the computer.. trance will create the perfect atmosphere.. it can make me want to get off my ass and run, allow me to sit down and relax on the beach.. let go of all my worries and just look up at the sky.. for me, the only drug I need is trance. I often tell my friends, "If I could shoot up techno in my left arm, shoot up trance in my right, and take a pill for progressive.. I would."
Funny thing about trance though is if i give someone a cd, and they openly listen to it, they like it. If they don't give it a chance, but still listen, they hate it. I also think it has to do with the bad name our music has, "repetive beeps and boops."
Trance excites me, as well as soothes me. When there's a particularly good track, my body just realises whoa this is mad, and then I feel tingly and good.
Trance can make me dance for hours on end, enjoying every second of it.
Once you start with trance, you just want more and more, and you find other electronic music too. Say I needed a break from all the trance, I turn to DNB, and then back to trance and it's still awesome.

A track u never liked fucking hits u like a Airliner landing on top of ur head... I find that the best time to listen to tracks u don't like is when ur really fucking tired... yet comfortable ( i remember waking up at night and listening to an ASOT episode, and loving this track I never really liked before)... i sometimes leave my Mp3 player on overnight, so i listen to the music as i sleep.... sweet dreams... should try it sometimes... |
because every fuckin day you wake up and blast the speakers
to the song you liked the night before, every day you wake up
and you listen to something new, were all connected with each
other in what we know as the scene. fuck pop, fuck new age rock
fuck derogative rap. much respect to my european relatives for
saying fuck the american airwaves.

Trance music is my favourite - especially dirty phat basses/beats and spine tingling melodies.
At the minute Super8 - Cre8 gets me, as does the bassline in Instamatik by Stephen J. Kroos.
I also love Classical music, especially film music - i think that Trance is the modern classical music - highly evolved obviously.
Even if it does get in the charts, thats always just gonna be the corny popular stuff - thats how it gets pop in the first place, theres always gona b propa banging trance, well thats wat ive noticed since 15...

... then really, everyone will go into the undergrouns..
... that means greater demand for Trance, which means commercial labels pumping out more money for DJs to join up... which makes commercialism more tempting...
My PC started playing trance about one year ago...
it's still continuously playing trance...!
My best friend's car started playing trance about one year ago...
it's still continuously playing trance...!
My Mp3 Player started carrying trance tracks on his Flash memory about one year ago...
Today the flash memory is full of trance Mp3's.
Damn... I have to buy a new hard disk! It's full!!!
LOL!
I'm not addicted....................
I thing i'm in a trancefly....
I just had to post in this thread, and I agree to it being about doing research and finding your own music. I discover great tracks from years back each day, and of course some new ones. This, together with the fact that I feel my taste in music is pretty unique, makes me truely dedicated to electronic music. I'm not saying EDM, because a lot of the progressive stuff I listen to isn't pure dance-music - it's more like ELM; electronic listening music
