Yup looks like it's a win for Bush. Arithmetically it's possible for Kerry to win but probability wise it doesn't look good. I'm just glad that the race didn't go to the supreme court.

well according to fox news channels electoral votes, kerry would have to win every other one to have a tie at 269 in which the house would re-elect bush because the majority of the house is republican... hmm

don't be so quick. look at ohio and the particular counties results here. They still have to count provisional ballots too. All hope is not lost.

Ohio is looking good for Bush. 3/4 precincts reporting in.
When it's final Bush will have solidified his win and the nation is safe I think we can say.

Well folks ... it's been a fun and exciting race . I can't complain too much ... as a fallback, I've always realised that I am personally more well off under Bush than Kerry. Tax wise I'll be better off, I'm a relativy savvy investor so I'll be able to avoid any market pitfalls that are caused by high deficits, my job is fairly secure, if Bush privatizes social security it is of no concern to me since I've been behaving and saving as if I won't recieve social security, if a draft occurs I'll likely be too old, etc. I can pretty much withstand any shock that the Bush administration incurs. So if those in a less secure position than me are willing to override my informed opinion with their informed opinion than so be it ... A lot more people are going to suffer before me. And hey, you get what you ask for so I'm not going to show any remorse ... enjoy the next four years

i totally agree. the dems have to start desroying them now to prevent the next crop of pols from rising. i think too many dems are pussies. being progressive doesn't mean you can't be evil or a schemer.

If it makes you feel any better, Kerry would have no prayer in hell of leading a country with a staunchly Republican country. Perhaps its better this way. So basically they'd both do the same thing anyways.

Bush has even built a comfortable 3 million vote lead in the popular vote...LOL

if were to detstroy a rising repub star it would have to be george p bush. this guy could be a star in a few years outside the repub base and appeal to some dems just because he's brown. maybe some compromising pictures would work. hmmm

I never saw your post before my statement. Unless you think I could have typed the reply that I did in under one minute. I'm flattered of your opinion of my ability however. And my hope for the country was a divided executive branch and legislative branch. Clearly the two cannot effectively operate together responsiblity. On the one hand we had a republican controlled congress issue a heavily pork laden omnibus bill with no hint of presidential veto. On the other hand we had an administration medicare bill with rediculous costs pass without a whimper from congress. They pat each other on the back and there are simply no checks and balances that might introduce a situation of fiscal responsibility.

not that it matters, but ohio just got the "too close to call" status on cnn. it may be a while before absentees are tabulated.

I'll agree with you here. Though I'd rather a democratic congress and a repub for a president.

But hell, as you said before, as long as we get out tax cuts....

That's why I concluded that I would be personablly better off . If so many poor people in southern states want less welfare spending and discretionary spending in their states than so be it. If that many people think that Bush can continuously give them promises that he can't pay for which will ultimately have negative ramifications on their day to day living than so be it ... I'm hardly affected. Fuck them. I guess I'm a darwinist at heart

I guess though its just the same attitude you expressed regarding a desire for US isolationism - this is the same thing except on the national, not international scale.
