At least those have some kind of skill, and it is debatable as to whether participants are the best at what they do.

The Entertainment industry as a whole is getting out of control. Musicians, movie stars.... they're all getting paid more than they're worth and we're the ones feeling the pinch... I now have to pay close to ten dollars to see a movie....close to 5 to rent one....

Yes, people are free to make as much money as they can, but when the spectators are the ones paying for it, then the artist should step in and make sure that things do not get out of control.

DJs in particular should heed way to this.... I mean, mixing is a form of musical presentation, but for the most part, it's nothing like putting on a rock tour... you just show up and spin... no one is worth $40,000 or Pounds or Euros to do this for two, 6, or even 18 hours....

But, I'm not going to condem the DJs before I condem the Pop Stars and the Movie Stars.... they are the ones that are robbing us blind...nowadays, half of your entire film budget goes just to hiring the talent.... pop starts are now charging between 70 and 100 dollars for a single ticket to a show.... it's more about the lights than about the singing....

I hope you all realize how dangerous of a time we live in for artistic presentation... people are losing touch with genuine art and focusing more on profit.... Somethings got to give....
It's even happening to Trance now... there's too much redundant, recycled crap that's being put out... It's turning in to a form of pop music and the DJs into Pop stars...
Tiesto is now the Britney Spears of Electronica.... mediocre talent and a marketable personality....

I'll stop now....

im at the matrix most weekends. its not even that big and they have difficulty filling it unless there is a really really big name playing and thats only once every couple of months.

the club can hold give or take 2000 people. they charge £10 to get in. at the very most they make £40000 off the bar. so that makes £60000 for a really good nite.

you honestly think they are gonna give tiesto 2/3 of their money?? not a fuckin chance. your friend has been bullshittin you. chris davies and ryan maxwell have been the residents of that club since it opened, playin every single weekend. they are paid peanuts.

I would guess that cover is going to be a bit more for Tiesto.

People really need to look at the business standpoint of things and stop bitching about eithical prices and selling out. Stupid thread again.

Anyone remembers "Another day @ the office" when he stated that formerly he used to play in front of 400 ppl in a club in breda and had to make the cleaning of the closet at the end of the set, and no one was waiting for him in a row to get a sig...

This guy is the one who made this board pass from 200 ppl connected @ the same time to 850...

this guy is a chance.

He is strictly the opposite of a vanitous selfish oakie, he is humble, you can bother him whenever you want to have a photo whith him... i won't dare to ask to oakie for sure.

I guess that the big wonder with this money, this guys remains the same, simply enjoying givin' gigs...

Who can blame a man who did "silence (in search of sunrise remix)" to earn good wages... without this title, trance may never have crossed the ocean... he was the one who brought trance to the U.S xith his tour with moby.

So please stop complaining about wages... i would only add one thing to see this man i have almost to do more than 1200 km by train or car to see him in holland or ibiza or even farer in UK, and the same distance to come back home.... 2400 km to see one guy... so i can't blame ppl living in capitals having a gig with him or any good dj next to their houses complaining about wages, each time i go clubbing it costs me a pain in the ass, but hell, how divine this is, it's priceless.

He deserves by his work all that happens to him, today.

And he is not the only one ; PvD @ GC NYE 2YK (sheffield stadium)earned £100 000 for two hours set....

Don't get me wrong : I don't want waste my moeny, but, i can't find anything close to the feelings i get in this kind of gigs.

Not true, at least in my case. He played in Chicago and ignored everybody, with the exception of a few girls he brought up to the booth. Absolutely no pictures with anyone. Most of his time was spent mixing drinks, rather than records. Could have been a rare night like that, but it was pretty bad.
