5.) Now, how does this benefit the scene? For starters, did you know that Armin has said that even he isn't fond of some of the tunes he played on ASOT? Yeah, that's right. And you know what that means? The show was run by major labels in it for a quick buck.

What that means he gave everyone a chance plaing their tunes even if he didn't like it.
What that means he made "SO MUCH" money for the mysterious labels that they decided to cancel ASOT, yea right, a real money making machine, please don't post such nonsense.

Real money in industry is in
1. gigs
2. compilations
3. artist CD

Vinyls just cover costs, now let me ask you how many compilations Armin made for other labels recently? None.
He's making his own on Armada, while you might call it "all the same and cheese" it's what some of us like, thank you very much.
No it's not the alpha and omega of trance, but it's what we like I repeat.
You don't see me coming to your threads and bashing stuff you like do you?
I wish you people would just leave ASOT alone, it'll come back anyway.

I remember telling you about this a week ago but nobody ever listens..

Posted by Jakhira on Jan-19-2005 10:04:

I wish everyone would stop saying they won't get to hear new trance anymore now that their beloved show is dead.
The records will still be on the shelves in the record store you know

Idiot. Idiot, idiot, idiot. Have you not noticed that everything on ASOT sounds exactly the fucking same?

You guys have no idea how bad this is for the scene. Like it or not ASOT was a platform for new music to be heard, and for the artists to get feedback on their music. Labels will not sign anything that hasnt proven itself first. You think there are other shows that you can tune in and listen to new releases on? Think again! You think artists are just going to send their music to just anyone with a show? I think not. Armin was usually the only person they sent music to. Wow, this really hurts the scene.

You my friend have absolutely no idea how it all works.

Music finds a way

Posted by Fresh Prince on Jan-19-2005 11:45:

Well he isn't the only one of course, and scene will go on,
but he has a devoted number of listeners and they/we will miss it!
I think that's the whole point of this topic,
not so some immature kids can goof off.

Posted by slinkyhead on Jan-19-2005 11:49:

i liked ASOT
it was good for finding new music but there are plenty of others ways.

But i really do think this could be good for the "scene". The main problem in the past couple of years has been the turnaround of records, djs are always looking to play the big tunes resulting in djs playing very similar sets and everything stagnating. Fans were always wanting the "newest tunes selected...". I really hope we see more diversification and hope this marks a turning point in the genre where we see less remakes, less trance by numbers and a greater variety in the tracks being released.

yeah of course people will miss it but it is not neccesarily a bad thing. Variety is the spice of life.

Just hope all those peeps who used to post there monthly top 10 or whatever now actually find good records rather than just listening to and buying the same records that Armin plays.

congratulatations on reigniting the flames. While you may not agree with his opinions he's as entitled to them as you are to yours & You've just guaranteed another war when he comes on today.

I dunno, I personally agree with some of his opinions but that doesn't mean he isn't acting like a total fuckwit when it comes to bringing them across.

Imho it's a bad thing for the current artists/labels big in the trance scene atm... it was responsible for shitloads of their exposure and most likely generated a large proportion of their sales. However it's also good since it was almost monopolising the scene in a way and getting stale... there'll be plenty of replacements around the corner I'm sure.

idd there is, and alot of them way better than asot too

I, for one, will miss ASOT if it doesn't return in its original form. I hardly ever listened to it live but always looked forward to downloading the show every week. If ASOT doesn't return who will spin the 2005 megamix and top 20 of 2005? Whoever does it, it won't be the same without Armin.
