I'm sober every night I'm there...what's the big deal ?

Posted by Tracedout on Apr-18-2005 01:26:

I do not post that much and never bother with reviews, but this was such a good night for me I have to post. First off I am no great fan of Guv even thought I seem to go there about once a month, simply because they book some of the best Trance DJ's in the World.

Arrived around 1am with my friend Greg, line moved quick, now my friend loves to play with YoYo's and pulled one out to amuse himself in the line, turns out the guy directly behind us in line is a proffesional championship YoYo player, and preceeds to teach my friend some new tricks, what are the odds of that? Coat check was a breeze. Gave my friend a tour of the whole place. Settled into main room ready for Ferry to come on, yes it was crowded but I really found it not that bad compared to Paul Oakenfold last November which was truely insane. Ferry was truely amazing getting off to a great start, around 3:30am switched over to Koolhaus to catch Grayarea, I have a couple of their live sets from http://www.hybridized.org/, and love listening to them, was curious what they would be like live. Wow I was not disappointed, caught the rest of thier set, not crowded at all and made a good break from the main room. Then back to Guv to party to Ferry for the rest of the night, truely amazing, Ferry was just so good! Even the attitude I usually hate from some of the crowd at Guv seemed to be non-existant, met some great new people, very friendly ended up party with them most of the rest of the night. Ferry just kept the energy going all night, never got tired could have dancing until the end but my friend wanted to leave around 6:45am. Spent about 3/4 of an hour trying to exchange contact info with I think his name was Matt, and totally screwed it up because it was so loud. If you happen to be on here and read this, message me here,(I was the guy in Orange shirt you were wiping your glasses on all night with the blue tie) would love to party with you again, you were really cool, and so were your friends.

In summary the best night I have ever had at Guvernment, so glad I went.

Me: What?! LOL! No... Was someone imagining things?
Sean: Amy thought maybe we did. LoL! Sorry.
Me: Stay off drugs kids

FAAAAAAANTASTIC NIGHT!

Arrived in line just after 10, made it in around 10:30 and proceded to get half drunk waiting for people to show up. Lost all of my friends on the dancefloor. I blame the fog, they went buckwild on the shit last night. I was rescued by Kelly who lead me to Karen, Cale, Dan, Aaron and Andrew. (Kelly I love the red in your hair by the way). Danced it up straight through Dave Seaman's set. Excellent music, couldnt stop moving. Poor Dan got shafted by his bank and had ZERO funds for the evening, so I bailed him out like the great guy I am hahaha.

Moved to the Guv shortly before 2:30. Was crammed in there like a sardine! Ferry absolutly blew my mind! (I expected nothing less) Was waiting soooo long to hear Digital Punk...went SICK when he played it.

Really good to meet DJ Celica and NuEra. Good times hangin out with you guys. Always a pleasure to see Josh. Its awesome being able to put faces behind the names here on the forums.

And as usual, twas great bustin a move with Karen, Cale, Dan and Kelly.

Stayed till 7:30 when my legs gave out. Got home just after 8 and took the longest shower ever

Took a shit-load of pics. Will post soon.

Good to see you TAs again - not happy to hear what happened to j_spot... That's just not cool and so cowardly.

I'm waiting on hearing the rest of your story man....Next time we're out smoking I expect to hear the end of it...

And if it was a TA who made my boy feel threatened and leave Ferry's performance early I'll kick your ass!

First of all big THANK YOU to Margaret and Ray for having some of us over for pre-predrinks and after party. Also thanks to everyone for tolerating my almost non-stop blabber; I had a little too much to say, hehe.

Being a Trance lover my main goal for the night was to see the man Ferry Corsten. Unfortunately, since the Guv was insanely packed till about 5, I stayed at Kool Haus for that time. Had a great time, but hated Grayarea. I gotta give them credit for doing a great live-show, but their music simply bored me. The fact that it was also very loud, and sound was very distorted clearly didn't help me enjoy their performance.

Josh Gabriel was pretty decent. Nothing too exciting about his set; he just played a bunch pretty good songs. I also enjoyed Luke Chable and Dave Seaman. Again, nothing spectacular; but very enjoyable.

Finally around 5:30 I decided to move into Guv. Got there while Ferry was playing a series of his productions: Punk, Rock Your Body Rock etc. Hated that part, and headed to the Drink where most of the TAs were hanging out at this time. The music there was pretty decent; however I wanted to give Ferry another chance and 20 minutes later I was back in the Guv.

This time Ferry did not dissapoint. Incredible high-energy Trance at it's finest. I could not stop smiling and dancing; it almost felt like my first party again.

One amazin thing happened before his last encore track. So Ferry finished playing his first encore track, and crowd began chanting - "Ferry Ferry Ferry", etc. Ferry was not responding, and the chanting eventually died. This is when I had this idea to shout "Ferry, play System F - Out of the blue!", and shout I did(For those who care, System F - Out of the blue is my favourite Ferry's track). About a minute later the music resumed, and imagine my surprise when it turned out to be System F - Out of the blue. Needless to say me and countless others were jumping from joy ! Note: I should add that it is possible that Ferry would've played Out of the Blue even if I didn't shout it. I choose to believe my side of the story So yeah, even though it's probably nothing, I will undoubtedly remember this particular party moment for a while !

Overall a really good party. I wish some things would've played out a little differently, but not much I can do about it now.

Shoutouts to the regular crew, as well as all the new TAs that I met - you are awesome, and make the party happen !

Love is in the air

Love Ferry....what a wonderful night. Seriously...the set times, the DJs, the crowds, the TAs, the music...everything just clicked so well last night

One question though...throughout Ferry's set twice the music cut out and Ferry had to jump to the next track or something...anyone knows what happened? Not that it bothered me at all just weird

Got there REALLY early, first person on the guestlist line, quickly joined by MaxTO LKD joined us a few minutes later but not quite sure what happened to him after (after reading those reviews). Anyways Addy was opening really well...pretty much stayed at the KH till Ferry. Got picked up by some cougars (weird, but must admit they were actually kinda hot...flattered). Then met some girl - as NFC Wave called her 'Lady in red' - ended up hanging out with her for most of the night although ended up ditching her at the KH at the end for Ferry of course...I think Ferry > chicks. Am I wrong? lol...nah that girl was alil weird, and got weirder by the moment as she was getting down from the high she was on. lol...

I was very impressed with Luke Chable's set...he really blew me away, started off really chilling, had his jacket on, almost with a "whatever" kind of attitude and look on his face, and then he just built it up more and more and totally rocked my socks!

Dave Seaman was ok, not really my style personally but I still enjoyed his set. The only problem that I had with him was that he looked like some hobo who just rolled off the street, wearing some sweatshirt and later on a nike t-shirt. Not that I REALLY care but at least make a lil effort lol. You're a big superstar after all

Ferry was wicked as always! Loved the music, didn't recognize many of his tracks - lots of new things. He played a shit load of classics too which i LOOOOOOOVED! Mixing and all was terrific as usual. The song which I heard a few times last night (Till there was you - not sure by who but I think a G&D remix) just killed me, i could hear it 20 times over and it's still incredible. Overall a really wicked set.

Josh Gabriel was terrific (even though I only heard about 5 songs when i went to check him out)...took some pics and partied with Ampz, Danielle, and Andrea Thanks for everything guys.

The warm weather is finally here and the Guv definitely reflected that...packed and super hot just like I remember the Guv in the summer time. Basically ran around most of the complex, snapped lots of pics which will be hosted by RJ soon . Don't want to blab too much since so much was already said.

Great to see everything as always you guys are absolutely the best. Andrea, Danielle, Karen, Kelly, Pett...and all the rest of you, you guys are amazing.

Pett thanks for not allowing me to leave at 7:30....actually really glad I stayed till the end

Durafei nice seeing you again dude, you know how to party haha.. Kandayo and Chris obviously as mentioned, sorry if I am forgetting anyone, you guys all rock. See you all soon!

FERRY YOU ARE AMAZING!!! Can't wait to see you again

PS

Those guys in orange shirts spelling out F-E-R-R-Y were super original, thumbs up for that!!!

FERRY's set was superb!! I'm really glad he played Rachel starr-Till there was you, pure smiles !!! after he dropped Right of way and Rock your body I was groovin with my little light show boy "EUGENE" lol.

On a side note, at around 3:45am I went to the bathroom in the Guv and managed to get into a lil tiny altercation with a chick lol who was dancing actually more like G'D OUT or some shit in front of the long mirror and wouldn't move and let me use it...I waited for like a minute and then I proceeded right in her face ME: "MOVE BITCH"....her:"blah blah somethin in Chinese"...so i had no choice but to remove her from that location and push her into an empty stall ooooops

I didn't think the crowd was that bad. I mean yeah there were some sketch pads doing weird/stupid shit but that's to be expected almost anywhere, especialy in a club.

It's sad that so many people have to rely on drugs to have a good time or enjoy the music. I have just as much fun sober. I'm probably going to make it down to Guv only on a monthly basis though, special events and whatnot.

Such a wicked night! Massive TAs hanging out for the TA meet-up in the kool haus! Met alot of wicked people, all SOOO nice!! It seems like everyone bashed heads or something similar when leaning in to talk lol! I got an ear in the eye lol!

I was kinda bummed out at the start of the night, my bank was facked and I couldnt get money out at all. Thanks to Eviltree for buying me a bottle of water, and Stringray for helping me out too! I owe you man!

Some TAs were taking hold of the platform in kool haus haha! That was awesome! Everyone was super smiles and lovin it! It was wicked!

I went in guv for abit, to packed, so went back to kool-haus. Then I see this guy near the front singing and was like "woah, this guy knows the words, wait a minute! Thats the actual guy singing!" LOL! grayarea is wicked for the part of it I saw. I then went back to guv.

Ferry corsten played a friggin amazing set! Everyone was into it like crazy! Check the pics! Everyone is super duper happy! Hands in the air all the time, jumping around, singing along to the lyrics hehe! Even near the end there was still alot of people!

A funny part of the night was when a girl came up to me and asked if I had any E, and I said no. Then she said "if you find me some, me and my really hot blonde friend will make out, would ya like that? hehe!". I didnt know what to say so I was like "well alright, if I find some i'll come and get you over where you were" LOL! I didnt know what to say! haha.

Ferry did two encores! The first one, the song came on like 15 seconds after when everyone yelled his name. The second one was different though. The music was off for like 2minutes and the bouncers started to come around and motion people to leave, but everyone started yelling "FEEERRRY! FEEERRRY! FEEERRRY!" and boom, another song started again and the lasers started up haha! WICKED STUFF!!

Awesome night though! Kelly your hair looks awesome! It looked even better outside in the morning with natural light on it! Cam thanks alot again! Eviltree, thanks for the water man! Cale and Karen, its always great partying with you! Cant wait to see the rest of the pics, where i'm sure i'm doing stupid poses lol

See you all next time!

I think that's uber trancer...he was dancing around me for a bit but I never actually introduced myself to him lol....that guy knows how to rock it!

- ferrys been better
- guv was terrible, never been pushed so many times in my life
- shadiest guv crowd I have ever seen - "bottle on head" guy was funny
- carl cox in guv - caused ear damage... ferry was WAY TOO LOUD - one more time and I am retiring from Guvernment events
- WITH all that negativity said...I have never heard a better set form Mark Oliver, he was flawless.

Why is it that Ferry, when in Guvernment has to be in the booth?
Just kills it.

Right here man.... I can honestly say this is my first post on TA but it will not be the last as I am embarking on a crusade to have my friend's customized Corsten #1 Dutch national soccer jersey returned after it was snatched on Ferry's return toss after he launched it to the booth to be signed ... but that's another thread. But inspite of that this was simply the BEST night I've ever experienced at Guv. All b/c of the friends who were there & the new ones I made.... hat's off to all the TA's out there that came up to me throughout the night introducing themselves for any number of various reasons ... your comradery made the night what it was (well that & that Ferry guy lol... simply unreal... only Underworld live can top that performance) ... but hats off especially to 3 key ppl in particular (but in no particular order to be sure)
Preppychick & your friends - I've been hittin the TO club scene for a few years now & at Guv more times than I can count but talkin to ya at the bar there whilst waiting forever & a day to get a cup of ice & then having you intro me to a bunch of your friends & fellow TA's honestly made me feel more at home in a club than I've ever felt
Tracedout (I'll use the moniker)- loved that orange shirt my good man ... you were throwin out a fantastic vibe which I was feedin off(hence the need to wipe the glasses on your miraculously perma-dry shirt lol)
& the long lost Jonny from MSU ... unreal to catch ya the very next time you made the trek to TO... I shan't be messin up the email this time lol & much thanks for the lift North to home inspite of you & your buddy's 4+hr return leg that still awaited you

You are champions of my night all of you ... & if you're not mentioned here it's simply b/c I can't remember many names that I haven't had to ask for at least a couple times through the night lol...... looking forward to seein all of you again on the floor very soon.
Cheers!!
