who's dj tiesto?
i actually saw him @ Space during WMC and wasn't that impressed w/ his set.
but i'll tell you who i am impressed w/. armin van buuren puts out a set every week for trance fans all over the world to tune in to. for free. every week. for free. every week.
tiesto on the other hand is $50 if i wanna hear what he's spinning nowadays. and his sets aren't all that new. for the love of god, quit playing traffic, love comes again, adagio. good prods but PLAYED OUT.
i still like him, and will buy isos4 when it comes out, but he's not my fave anymore

i'm not gonna read another one of these stupid threads, but people were wondering what he did in order to jump from 24 -> 6th...and i think it is largely due to his remixes of Flesh and Silence that year. people loved them and voted him up because of that...and of course the big-synth silence sound is what all trance producers started trying to emulate and that's the begining of the end for trance hehe...
Can't be arsed to read the whole thing, but I'll comment on one point.
The fact that Tiesto jumped from 24 --> 6 is not a big deal at all. Look at Benny Benassi - he is #18 in this years DJ mag poll. Why? Because he had basically one big hit with 'Satisfaction,' and enough of the voting audience can't discern a DJ from a producer so he's way up there. Plain and simple it's a popularity contest. I don't agree with the results (obviously), but if you don't like it don't listen, and stop bitching about it.

I do like listining to Tiesto's sets but when i heard about the whole Disney thing i felt it had gone a bit too far. I mean he justified the olympics thing coz he said that he was trying to promote trance to a wider audience. fair enough. But how is playing to a bunch of kids and adult in furry suits gonna promote trance. Yes hes a good dj, doesnt have that many skills but then again neither does pvd or armin, and i love them as well. Its all popularity. The poll is not official so ppl shouldnt really worry about it that much. I dont think he will be # 1 next year
