antoine won't be the 6th man. he'll start at the 3 spot with posey backing him up. i hope they keep damon jones. he's a great point guard and my bucks got f'd by letting him go to miami. j williams is a joke.

in other nba news (outside trades) ....

tony parker and hottie girlfriend eva longoria got into a little spiff outside an l.a. nightclub.. news has it that the bouncer didnt think eva longoria was "celebrity" enough to cut in front of 100 people waiting to get into the club .. so the bouncer tells them to wait in line like the rest of the peeps ..

well .. eva gets into a hissy fit about everything, while tony stands beside her saying nothing .. i guess we all know who wears the "pants in this relationship" ..

news just in ..

shareef apparently fails his physical with the nets, and the nets cancel the whole offer with the blazers ..

meanwhile while all of this is happening, nets management has signed marc jackson (philly) to a deal .. not a bad backup option now that shareef wil not be joining the nets.

and Allan Houston ISN'T cut by the Knicks under the Allan Houston rule

why am I not surprised the owner (James Dolan) was the reason why the Knicks kept Houston

Spurs lookin on Finley but so are the Heat and Nuggests, Finely says he likes the Spurs option, see where he goes.

As a Spurs fan, I dont really care if he comes or not, his good but not that good, maybe for an experience level, but the spurs have much of that anyways.

at the begining of this thread we discussed Finley not really being a quality signing for anybody really, considering his price of course as well.

michael finley and the spurs could be a good marriage, because now ginobli can go to the starting sg position, and finley can back him up or bowen .. a lot better than ulrich, who i feel is good, but finley offers more defense .

yeah i know finley probably has an ego, would never want to sit the bench as their sixth man, but if finley is asked what he wants more .. more money or a championship ring, he'll choose the ring .

Finely is a gimp

The Spurs backcourt is loaded now. With Manu, Parker, Barry, Bowen, Van Exel and Finley they may have the best in the league. Anyone else thinking two time defending champions?

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Shaquille O'Neal provided an assist to police over the weekend, trailing a man who allegedly assaulted a gay couple before alerting an arresting officer.

The 7-foot-1 Miami Heat center, who is in the process of becoming a Miami Beach reserve officer, was driving on South Beach around 3 a.m. Sunday. He saw a passenger in a car yell anti-gay slurs at the couple, who were walking, said Bobby Hernandez, a spokesman for the Miami Beach Police Department.

The man then got out of the car and threw a bottle, hitting one of the pedestrians, who was not seriously hurt. The man got back in the car, which sped off. O'Neal followed, flagging down an officer who made an arrest, Hernandez said.

Michael Gonzalez, 18, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and assault with a deadly weapon. The driver of the car was not charged.

O'Neal, who hopes to be a police chief or county sheriff one day, was already being fitted for his Miami Beach police uniform before he helped the police out.

"For this incident I don't want to be credited as an individual who does police work," O'Neal said in a statement. "I want to be credited as a Miami Beach police officer."

i don't agree with his b!tchin for playing time ..
but i do agree with his talents .. at his age right now, he is still atheletically better than about 35% of the point guards in the nba right now .. he still has some skills .. his defense hasn't slacked since his 'glove' days, and can shoot the ball well on the perimeter .. one big advantage of him over point guards is his post game ... he can still post up on the smaller point guards out there ..

at least he is better than dooling .. dooling doesn't know how to play post defense, and he's been in the nba for 5 years now .. but it's going to be tough with payton getting playing time with wade and jason williams in the lineup .. someone needs to change to a shooting guard, which probably is going to be jason williams ..

I agree he is more dependable than Dooling, I just hope his strong personality dosnt rub off on everyone else the wrong way. He needs to realize if he wants to win a title he needs to share minutes, and Im pretty sure Riley beat that into his brains already.
