They're all TAs

you miss the point, as shown by basd amongst others.

without posts in the areas that don't count, i firmly believe we should get behind someone who's contributed on this sort of scale. Preach is one of my faves, but he's not exactly representative of ta on the level of someone like mike. plus mike's funny

1. Armin van Buuren
2. Markus Schulz
3. Lange
4. Presicion
5. Matthew Dekay

I still stick with DJ Mikey Mike

reasons-

1) winner must have a DJ infront of their name, which they then remove once they win - Mikey Mike in concert coming soon!

2) they must at least participate on ta. all the 'names' are pretty much signed up for self promotion or barely post. If we were to support such a motion, why not support someone who Joined ta to be part of the community in the first place, and promote themselves only minimal times & after at least becoming a worthwhile member

3) the victory speech. I say it again, the victory speech. Best Speech Ever...

4) I voted for him for the last 2 years, if only everyone had the faith of me he might have already got his name out there.

5) everyone else sucks. Especially boomer, but hey, not worth bringing peoples private lives in it is it

looks like it's between mikey & boomer haha. doing my bit for this side of the ocean & nominating the fomer

to clarify:

this is to get someone, anyone, wether they dj or not to win the dj mag top 100, this is to proove what a farce this poll is and that it is based on anything but the dj's skills or genre.

all the DJ's that are names spam themselves silly to get voted for, so what we are doing here is exactly the same, we shall be getting everyone on TA to vote for our chosen hero.

There will be 5 names to chose from which will placed in a poll on friday night.
the winner of that poll will be the one that all us members of TA will vote for as our #1 DJ.

once u have done that, you are more than welcome to put down your other favorites, the idea like i said is to get a member of TA as the mags #1 dj.

the poll will consist of those names that i have seen nominated the most in this thread and at the mo, disco boomer and dj mikey mike are defo in the poll.

remember you have until friday afternoon to nominate a member of TA for this award and the poll will be posted in the evening.

let's judge a TA DJ based on his post count then....that makes a lot of sense. In the words of my good friend RabbitJoker on TOTA:

OK USA!

Ok, well then thank you for clarifying, wicked neo. No offense, but I think I'll abstain then, because quite frankly, I think it's a bad idea to put TA DJs in a class of 'who posts more' under the guise of 'who contributes more' merely to point out the illegitimacy of a mixmag poll which already carries negligable weight to both TA and the larger electronic music community. I say negligable weight because for most club owners, record label owners, and most fans reguard the poll as little more than a paper with writing on it anyway.

its got bog all to do with the post count or how long you have been on this site, any member of TA can be nominated wether they joined 5 years ago and have 20,000 posts or joined yesterday and has 1 post.

I dont care, i just want a member of TA to win the poll.

Posted by Sly_Guy on Aug-17-2005 17:29:

did it now?

then how do you judge contributions to the TA community?

yeah, and the attitude of some of these people has to do with the fact that they will not even acknowledge a DJ because as a TA they have already achieved some level of success

Posted by JakeC on Aug-17-2005 17:35:

TBH after thinking about this it aint a good idea.

candidate gets in the top 100.

candidate gets gigs.

candidate isn't up to par and not what the promoter thought, end of career and any possible chance of having a music related career due to jokingly being propelled into the poll.

Posted by Zombie0915 on Aug-17-2005 17:37:

To be honest I think DJ mag would get wise to it if they saw a false DJ rise in the ranking who they did not recognise. I dont think we will be able to put anybody on this list unless DJ mag knows who they are. Sure the other DJ's might be spamming their asses off right now but I dont think it will work for us because it looks too much like bullshit, the real djs can at least pretend that they aren't spamming.

Posted by Joycey on Aug-17-2005 17:40:

I think Swamper should get on the nomination list for definite... That would make boomer mikey mike swamper and two others

it openly says that if everyone from down the pub wants to vote for dave the dj from there then they're entitled to do so. My nomination comes also from knowing that mikey is as sound on the decks as anyone i know, and a few pro's as well

time to make vote for boomer shirts.

Posted by jonze on Aug-17-2005 17:59:

i havent heard anything from mike or boomer but i know that theres plenty of ta djs that can hold their own given the opportunity. so i doubt this is going to be career suicide for someone.

Posted by CleverName on Aug-17-2005 18:32:

I say swamper.

if you dont want to be nominated i think pm'ing simon(neo) about it is enough to do the trick.

i know i dont wanna be nominated, as i have stated earlier in the thread, but it's not due to the reasons you came up with.

and lord of bass

While I doubt something like this will be enough to dethrone Tiesto (I mean, c'mon! Flying Geishas! How can you compete with that!?), it would still be hilarious to watch an unknown random bloke high on the DJ list via the power of pranksters. Just look at how the David Hasselhoff album gets such praise at Amazon.

Heck, I'd imagine other sites that consider the DJMag poll a joke would be up for joining on this crusade as well (Discogs, DJForums, etc.).

Posted by basd on Aug-17-2005 21:11:

I'm wondering (maybe it was stated somewhere in this thread though..) how many votes would you need to make it to the top 100 / 50 / 10?

I'll vote Mikey as well, I don't know him at all but I'm all for sarcasm and directness. Plus I honestly don't have a clue as to whom I'd actually vote for had I been taking this poll seriously.

Besides that, you just gotta show your love for people being able to live in a country where the main national dish is smelly fish litter and chips softer than Big Gay Al wrapped up in yesterday's headlines.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Aug-17-2005 21:24:

90,000 people vote in the whole poll. TA has 50,000 members. That's over half the normal amount of votes, so it's enough to win by a big margin.

That's assuming that every member votes. However, a sizeable majority of TA will still take part. I know I'll spread the word outside of TA, simply because I like music activism. I wouldn't be surprised of the selected TA ended up being around 100 or something. That'd be pretty damn cool.
