Here's my review...

I had no line problems whatsoever. I seriously didnt wait more than 3 minutes in any line the whole night. Not even to get in. Once I was situated, hanged out with friends for a bit, I went on a taco spree!!! Woohoo, those chicken tacos were good! Finally found Julia and hanged out with her for the rest of the night.

I was adjusting to the atmosphere and wasnt in a dancing mood. I did enjoy listening to Tiesto. The pauses didnt bother me at all! Then As The Rush Comes came on!!! OMG!!! From there on, I didnt stop dancing! Well, except once when I had to go outside and catch some fresh air. When I was outside I heard Traffic and the drummers! I missed them Oh well Went back inside, kept dancing more, screamed my lungs out, and made the best of my $70 worth!!! I really enjoyed the live acts, the acrobats, and that JBL Sound System was amazing!!! It was an excellent night, had a blast, and I wished it didnt end that early! ☹ Then the nightmare began! The fucked up bullshit at 740!!!! Oh well! Nothing is ever perfect. Like someone told me I could bitch about the few things that bothered me, but it's not going to ever supercede how freaking awesome it was.

if sasha and digweed were alone better than tiesto, why do you always mention them together? are they blood brothers or something? i hate to hear that djs do better when they are paired. do we need to smack them to perform? or don't they have enough talent to fill 4 hour set to bring circus act?

if tiesto could bring at most 10K crowd, when digweed and sasha alone cannot get more than that, how on earth both will get 25K?

if you make outrages claims for your own or friends' benefits, even if you might be right about tiesto, nobody will take you serious.

you may not be taken any pill today, but you ODed yesterday.

correction...i od'd saturday. and i thought we were talking in terms of 'concert' like events. like tigo said...delta heavy. nuff said. and yes sash & dig are blood brothers. and i'm not 100% sure what you meant by that circus thing but STFU. lol

anyway, i'll be serious here.
i used to like tiesto...alot, he was an awesome dj. and it has nothing to with being #1 or being #20, i just don't dig his style of trance anymore. and i don't understand everyone's fascination with him. much like how you guys don't understand other's fascination with sasha and/or digweed. its all musical preference, and i'm glad everyone had the fun they did. i must say though, i'm not surprised by the amount of bad reviews that were in here. i'm going to assume that most (not all) of the people there were under 21...the same type of crowd you would catch at an 18+ regular (non-avalon/spundae type) of club, or perhaps at a massive (monster massive, together as one).

and i dont think there's anything wrong with the concept of TIC, infact i own the DVD from the 1st one. thought it was awesome, and would have wanted to be there. in wherever it took place....holland? THAT looked like a lot of fun...the sheer magnitude of it was amazing. but honestly looking at the pics from LA...disappointing. espcially from all the hype surrounding it.

anyway i dont want to speak on this anymore...its just gonna cause us all to be upset with one another. and we shouldn't do that...because that's what gangsta's do. please lets not have any 'tiesto-coast' and 'sasha-coast' style shootings.

Were you really at the Mayan ? It was a can of Sardines....almost to the point of being uncomfortable.

Don't know if he is a jerk and a clown...but he hops around in funny ways....and he fills Avalon..which has nothing to do with the afforementioend.

You might have missed it, but they rose to prominence as a DJ tandem in the mid 90s with their Northern Exposure CDs. They have been recognized as a duo for nearly a decade, despite their successful solo careers.

I'm having my statisticians look into this as we speak...

wow woody your right, can't believe i did not catch that

Taking a closer look at one of your pictures

I can clearly see the dvdj thanks for clearing that up

Btw: I can agree with Bas on how tiesto was my favorite dj, his years from 01-03 were spectacular!

Your website kicks ass

Sasha & Digweed headlined the Sahara tent in Coachella in 2002. The festival as a whole didn't sell out (which is ~50K). It's a stretch to say that they'd sell out a stadium. (Northern Exposure kicks ass.)

I had an unbelievable time at TIC. It was an incredible experience.

You know what? To my surprise, there were more 21+ over people there. Seriously. I was checking out the crowd trying to spot all the little kiddies and didn't see that many.

Speaking of Sasha & Digweed.... As I sat up in the balcony on Saturday listening to the music and watching the show (visuals & chick singing), I started to think about Sasha & Digweed. I began checking out the whole main floor and the seated areas, just to see how many people were there. The main floor was pretty packed and there were quite a few people chillin up on the balcony areas. I then turned to my B/f and said, "You know, I seriously doubt that Sasha & Digweed could fill up a place like this."
I went to one or two of the Delta Heavy Tours and I know the tickets were not sold out to those events.
The free Digweed show at Mayan wasn't that packed either. It may have been kinda packed but not sardine packed. I was sure expecting alot more people to be there, people that I used to always see there at the Mayan and other events.

it is great to see all of the comments here, flowing both ways, everyone has an opinion and a strong one. it's great to see an audience passionate about our scene, maybe that will be the catalyst to help it grow. we need something like this to break into the larger scene out there, or we'll all be bombarded by hip hop for the rest of our lives. i'll add my personal review as i was as much a customer as anyone else Saturday night.

there were just over 10,000 people attending (statistics will be published in Billboard for you doubters). it was a record event, hands down for a single dj or act in north america. for those of you that are the Sasha and Digweed followers - i'll give you a comparable of what they have done in a similar setting. once in a blue moon in San Francisco at the Cow Palace and the same show at the AllState in Chicago drew 9,000 people each at 60% of the ticket price - but Sasha and Digweed co-headlined with Paul Oakenfold and The Chemical Brothers LIVE. The biggest single event for the Sasha and Digweed tour drew 4600 people, from what i recall, as we produced that particular show. If they were given a large scale production at the level of tiesto in concert it would be interesting to see what they could do, but pulling a bigger crowd in North America would be a challenge.

the vibe in the room was the best i've seen in ten years of this business. it had the feeling of a very, very big nightclub, not an arena. the crowd was excellent, people actually cheered when we opened the doors, i've not seen that before. the tempo of the night must have worked for most, as the response at every major break was electric - i watched a lot of the show from the seats across the room from the stage so i could see it all. it was interesting how at first people came into the room and jammed to the front, like a big concert, but after an hour or so spread out to turn the space into an oversized dancefloor.

all of the performers were sharp, the drummers were excellent and will return with additional samba drummers to NYE in Vegas, as well as a few new concepts we will have just for the Las Vegas gig. the aerial performers and hand balancing were incredible. each of the singers did an excellent job, from very different approaches. lasers could have had a few added in for the scale of the room, but in places like Miami and Vegas that have somewhat smaller capacities they will be far more impressive - the whole show will be for that matter. the production crew was flawless from start to finish in terms of the gear used and execution, the sound really was spot on.

our promotion partners, insomniac notably, club crasher, evolution and after hour power were brilliant. they all worked hard to turn people out for this gig. our friends at element radio probably worked the hardest on this one and it showed.

most importantly, i would like to say thank you to everyone who attended this event. without sounding too much like a promoter, everyone at this tiesto in concert really was a part of history in the making. it was an incredible night. thanks to Tiesto and his team who put on a phenomenal show - they have vision and Tiesto has the charisma and confidence to pull something on this scale off, i can't think of any other electronic artist who would take on a project like this and know it can work. cheers.

now to the east coast.

We need more events like TIC!

I forgot to mention....

I really enjoyed TIC! The crowd, the vibe, hangin out with people I know, the music, the performers (singers, drum beaters, chicks on ropes... did I miss anything?) the visuals and pretty much every thing was sweet!
I have no complaints anymore, well except that it ended way too soon. The whole show/concert made me forget how disorganized the lines were to get in but once in, I was sporting this -> all night.

Would I go again? Yes I would, most definitely.

Seriously - a Sasha and Digweed show would sell out a stadium here in SoCal and would attract people from SF, Vegas, SD, as well as the greater LA area - which I think would sell out a place like the Coloseum.

I think Sasha & Digweed are amazing I have seen them both together and both when they are solo. Its always a great time. That Buenos Aries video is amazing. Unfortunatly the turnout for them would not be anywhere near as big here in the states. EDM is massive in South America. The words massive and EDM don't even belong in the same sentance when it comes to events here in the states. If any of west coast TAs can rember back to WMC this past year (March 2005). I don't know if any of you all went or not but, Sasha & Digweed headlined the Official Ultra after party at the American Airlines Arena, (same place the Miami Heat NBA team plays). This was right after Ultra too, the Arena was literally across the street from the Ultra Venue. You are talking about anwywere from 30 thousand to 50 thousand EDM heads in Miami, and not even 10 thousand of them showed up to watch Sasha & Diggers first set toghther in 3 years in a damn arena. There was probably more people in the Amphitheater at Ultra getting down to Tiesto's set, then there were at the after party. Oh BTW, did I mention that the opening act was Hernan Cattaneo and James Zabiela tag teaming!!! And from the looks of things, they had the same sound setup for that party, as you all did for TIC. Now you wanna talk about a night of great music. And the party went from midnight until ???? I left at 4:30am cause I was beat from dancing all day in the sun at Ultra, and 5 days of solid parting before that. How much did the event cost you ask? A measly $20 with your Ultra ticket stub. With all that being said, I'll be in Miami when TIC comes to the east coast cause I'm 100% it will be another night of great music.

then, TIC LA could not be the best show in the history of the world as noble promoters preached. i am very disappointed

something positive. the guy looks even dummer from side profile. i do not need to see his disgusting face any longer.

Off Topic:
I did vote for Tiesto this year in the DJ mag poll.. just not as # 1. I am still a HUGE Tiesto fan and still follow him when and where I can and still support him. But I think it is someone elses turn to become #1. I think Tiesto has gotten to "big" with his #1 spot for 3 years.
I wonder if Tiesto will ever play at clubs here in the US?? Will it just be huge-a events at $80 or more per ticket?

On Topic:
Great Review guys! This was a big night for me and it was every thing I expected and then some!

Okay...so I was invited into Tiesto while waiting to flyer the exit.

HIGHLIGHT of the night...

...walking into Tiesto at 11:20pm

...first mix...

...ohh...its going off...

...ohh adjust the platter Tijs!

...aohh noo....ahhh...uhh...ohhh yuck!

Nice one Mr. #1

The number one DJ in the fucking world cannot beat match two records at a show thrown specifically for HIM and HIM only...with the BEST fucking setup he could come up with for himself to play on.

Tiesto is a god damn fucking joke and now I know it from FIRST HAND experience. What the hell happened to the guy who had passion behind the decks in 2002?

The setup was quite nice...not as impressive as TiC's in Amsterdam, but still better than anything we've seen here.

The lighting was alright but many lights were out of sync, and it seemed to have trouble following the music. Avalon's lighting > TiC LA

I can't really comment on the sound since I never went to the front of the floor, but it sounded very good although the highs seemed a little over saturated.

Tiesto played some good tracks, in fact the tracklisting is really not too bad...

..but...

INTERMISSION with fucking acrobatics and pre-recorded music in the middle of a "set"..

What the fucking hell?

Why not just have a damn monkey up there pushing play on good tracks, since thats all Tiesto hasgoing for himself at the moment (track selection).

And then...after the intermission and the dancers...(cool but I go to concerts for the music/headliner)...

Tiesto does one good mix...and then...fades out of the next track...lets the crowd cheerhim on...pushes play and fades into the next track.

This happened MORE than once.

A little later, I heard the beats going off again (confirmed by two other DJ's with me)...going more off...thewn ooo the entire trainwreck to be fades out...

....and the he BLASTS in the track he had mis-beat matched.

I'm sorry this is just fucking RIDICULOUS.

THE NUMBER ONE FUCKING DJ IN THE WORLD....

...CANT BEATMATCH.

REGARDLESS of me liking trance vs. prog...

...you cannot deny the fact that he just...cannot...fucking...MIX.

Which is a damn DISGRACE for someone who is supposed to be #1 in the world...I.E. SKILLED, I.E. PROFFESIONAL, I.E. FLAWLESS

Its not like he had one or two fuck ups...okay...I fuck up on Ableton too...it can happen.

Tiesto just had SHIT mixing accross the board for the entire time I was in there 11:20 -> 1am

He'sa joke...plain and simple...it tranceds whatever genre you're into...hes just NOT a good DJ anymore...and he DOESNT FUCKING CARE.

We watched him sit there with his top of the line sound setup and system, as the beats drifted off...and he sat there smiling...without laying a FINGER on the platter...

This is just NOT acceptable for the #1 DJ in the world...

I wouldnt even place him in the top 50.

And to those arguing about who can pull more people...personally...I don't fucking care. I don'tgo see a DJ based on how many people they can pull...Britney Spears can fill a Stadium...but she still sucks...

So baisically...huge dissapointment...and I was hoping that he would redeem himself...

Was looking for you other peeps but I guess you were all at the front. Anyways if you had a good time great, but please do not vote him #1 again...PLEASE!

btw yeah Michelle there was nothing else to do till close...flyering was fun though...seeing all the cracked out people coming out was interesting since I'm usually one of them
