And what news exactly do you need to admit the existence of electrohouse?

there is no such thing as electrohouse...

Then please do tell me what kind of stuff Angello & Ingrosso are playing. I believe it's called "electrohouse". Why are they always talking about the electrobandwagon ? I thought this was why

Posted by AlphaStarred on Jun-30-2006 23:27:

electroacid ownzzz

Posted by montana on Jun-30-2006 23:30:

i refer to this music that angello, prydz and ilk are playing as trendhouse.

Well the "official" name is electrohouse... and if electrohouse exists there might be a possibility that electotrance also exists. And that was what i'm asking right here. Listen to the sample ... its no psytrance, its no techtrance, its no uplifting trance, its no mcprog, ... I really would label it as some kind of electro-sounding trance

Posted by montana on Jun-30-2006 23:56:

are you absolutely serious.

and the track in the sample would be techhouse with a trendhousebassline and some big epictrance synths.

Posted by sm44 on Jul-01-2006 00:19:

its hilarious that you deny the existence of electro house and make up your own of trend house. so is what we called electro house what you call trend house? its the same shit

What gives you the impression I don't understand the arguement? I do, and I'm saying it's retarded. It's music, not some analytical challenge.

Posted by PETRAN on Jul-01-2006 02:03:

OMG OMGGG OMGGGG NOT THESE SHITY GENRE-SUB-GENRE POINTLESS ARGUMENTS AGAIN!!!!WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT GENRES AND SUB-GENRE PERCEPTIONS ARE SO MUCHH ILLL-DEFINED THAT IT'S UP TO EACH SINGLE PERSON'S EXPERIENCE AND MEMORY IF SOMETHING(A TUNE) BELONGS TO THE CURRENT GENRE OR ANOTHER FFS!!!GENRES ARE NOOOOTTT OBJECTIVE IN ANYWAY, THERE ARE SUGGESTIVE YES THEY WERE AGREED(IN TERMS OF SOME VERRY BASIC ACTUAL MUSICAL QUALITITES ALTHOUGH THIS WAS DONE VERY SUBJECTIVELY BY SOME SHITY MANAGER,MAGAZINE WRITER,OR EVEN A..."PIONEERING" PRODUCER ) BUT THAT'S ALL!!!!!

THIS IS THE REASON WHY THIS HAPPENS:

quote:
Precursor is tech trance you mongol

quote:
Have you actually LISTENED to the sample ?? It's anything BUT techtrance. So who's the mongol here !

(LOOOLLLL high standart philosophical conversations, that's why i love tranceaddict)

quote:
No. Some would say electro, some would say rap, some would say a combination of rap and electro. Not freestyle. Planet Patrol - Play At Your Own Risk (1982) is freestyle, and it was made by the same people using the same 24 track master

Exactly, some people would say rap, some electro, some freestyle, some dick-dance, some porn-rock, a music magazine will praise the new sound of "futuro-tech" and so-on and at the end , because the tunes could not be compared to an "official genre taxonomy system" in order for someone to objectively justify if some tune belongs to one genre or the other , THERE IS NO FUCKING POINT IN THE WHOLE THING YOU ARE DOING. Oh...and you assholes (you know who you are) that you thing that you are "genre-specialists" and flame other people for not sharing the same genre or sub-genre perceptions with you just GENTLY FUCK-OFF PLEASE, Because that's how things are!!!!

(e.g. note...kraftwerk's sound was grouped with the berlinesque "kraut-rock" genre in germany, the american detroitians were calling it "euro-tech", but some 80s synth-pop groups were calling pure "electro". I'm sure there were faaaarr moreee genre-names for them...)

To me, Rock Your Body Rock, Loneliness, Time To Burn, Kenrkraft 400, Punk etc all have a very similar sound, and that sound is vastly different to the Air For Life, Shivers, Adagio For Strings or other ASOT sound that dominates trance today.

If its all just straight up trance, fine, however I remain surprised that with all the subgenres and sub-subgenres (prog trance, uplifting trance, tech trance et al) out there a distinction is apparently not available for said style seeing as ELECTRO TRANCE is a forbidden term.

The reason "electro trance" faces such resistance as a term is because "electro" is an old genre of intense stylistic purity. The substyle consisting of the tracks you mentioned does exists, and the most accessible term for them is, much to the chagrin of actual electro fans, "electro trance". If there were another label in parlance, then there would be no such resistance to its use.

I don't particularly blame them. I'm on pins and needles whenever someone refers to McProg as progressive trance.

ROFLLLL

yes you are right, that'a terrible crime!!!calling "McProg", "Fluff-dance" progressive trance OMG call the police. Only way out west and bedrock releases are trully "progressive trance"!.But wait some people say that bedrock releases are "progressive house"...oh my gooodd in some bedrock releases there are "electro" elements as well...damn trends they complicate things...way out west though...aren't they "trance" in the broader sense though? (saltwater was) "melodic trance" maybe?...was it called "epic trance" back in the day though?"euro-trance"? The radio was playing it after "Agnelli and nelson's "everyday" and "el-nino"...the sound was pretty similar hmmmm strange i remember someone saying that way out west should be considered "ambient" because they have soo many ambient tunes...and some "poppy" ones too...(no ordinary morning). No... they should not be considered as progressive trance neither as "progressive house"...in fact the only "true" "progressive trance" record i've heard was "leftfield-leftism" all the other were just crap-dance...I'm confused...who is right now and who is wrong???Maybe we are all?!?!!?!?

No, its all shit. The endless discussions about genres are largely irrelevant except to nerds. Which this forum doesn't seem to have a scarcity of.

Sure it's great to be informed... well informed, about whats happening on the EDM scene; but these last 10 pages have been a phenomenal waste of time.

Its MUSIC! Not some bizarre existentialist sudoku challenge... so call it whatever you like, define and redefine genres till it makes you feel all the more superior and pompous...and at the end of it... what?

No... really, what have you achieved beyond giving me a migraine?

Electro isn't what most people believe. Stabbing synths in a track do not = Electro

Electro Trance sounds like vomit.. like Electro jazz or Electro hip hop. You can create it... but its going to sound like shit. Like trying to enjoy ice cream with ketchup... and if you do like that combination, pleasse don't waste my time further by letting me know.

Would you shut the fuck up? You never post anything but cack-handed, poorly written and poorly concieved rants in one giant, rambling block of text. Your opinions are shit, your comprehension is shit, your English is shit and you're shit. I'm sick and tired of having some massive block of text shit all over a perfectly calm debate because some jackass is enraged that people actually want to discuss something on a forum.

Posted by montana on Jul-01-2006 13:10:

I feel the same way about Santa Clouse.

But trendhouse exists - at least for you, yes?

It's all becoming clear now..

I don;t like it. Sounds more like the "high tech" gadgetry of some startrek space ship of the 80s.

Gabriel & Dresden - Eleven FTW!!!

I sooooooo thought I was being innovative by thinking to start an "electro trance" thread, but good thing I did a search first. Long live electro trance!

Yes, electro trance is FUCKING AWESOME! It's like progressive trance, but it let's you experiment with vintage 80s synths. I dunno about you, but I like to put a lil flash dance in my trance pants.
