i disagree. i enjoy this one much more than your last effort jace. which is saying a lot cos i thouroughly enjoyed your last one too. gotta love that riff!

Posted by ONION on May-05-2004 05:48:

Good effort jace...

You need to apply a Desser on the vocals.... gets rid of that hiss every time the bitch says anything with S in it. - I misssssssssssssss u

I like how the vocals are panned on the delay.

You have opted to use the sounds that are similar to that of the original.... I would have tried something totally different...

Also there are other sounds that you are included that I wouldnt have put in but thats cause i have different taste.

You need another mixdown... some elements are a bit too loud...
In a track with vocals, your vocals, kick, leadline are your focal points... not the effects that come in once in a while ( in other words they need to be quieter).

production wise, i cant comment.
but it sounds class.

as for the tune, its a nice effort.

however.. while i dont know what ur intentions were with the mix,
it does lack a sense of build up. it lacks direction. the elements are very few too. pretty simplistic. with prog especially, i like to be overwhelmed with everything thats goin on at the one time. like walkin into an art gallery n seein a huge paintin. i cant keep track of all the details at the one time on the canvas, but i can see its fuckn beautiful. with ur tune, i can see all the detail quite easily. moreover, the predictability of when u bring them in, take em out.

keep it up tho. think ur gonna get somewhere mr jace.

Posted by jc on May-05-2004 10:03:

jizza - thanks man! yeh that guitar riff is just amazing, love it

on1on - some good points, especially with the mixdown, thanks!

jaykue - my idea i had for this production is just a cruisy driving track maintaining quite a bit of the original.. nothing uplfting or any hectic buildups.. just cruisy

updated with some minor adjustments and fixed up the main bit with the chorus..

Downloading now, will update with opinions in approx 45 minutes

Update: mmkay .. pretty nice sounding track. Not really what I'm listening to these days, but it's quite polished and sounds very professional. They're running some remix comp on ITM at the moment, maybe look into that

Make the guitar sample more acoustic sounding and more flowing. It sounds too simple, too up & down. Everything else sounds mint.

Hey Jace, had a listen and i think this tune is very good indeed! Nice ot hear a proggy make of this tune after all those shitty commercial trance ones came out. My only problem with it is that sort of high pitch ambience noise you use, sorta like the synth used in Afterburn - Winter Sun, hope you know what i'm talking about. But apart from that this tune is all class! very professional indeed!

You've improved pretty fast since your other stuff, start sending it to labels.. i'm sure that Missing is getting release again with some 2004 mixes.
