I am jumping to defend TRANCE FANS. This sight is ours, and not Trance haters. When I see idiots ruining the good vibe that was in this community, I speak out.

Give TA back to the trance Fans!

Most people here are bigger trance fans than you, especially the ones you're defending from. The difference is, they've the experience to be critical, rather than loving anything and being offended when others don't share their opinion.

And you are?

The day I see you whoring Harthouse, Suck Me Plasma and Platipus, is when I'll consider you a trance fan.

I am a trance fan, most people are, we just don't all like the same kind of trance. Just because some of us see through the needless worship of anyone who's put a tune out.

Posted by Durrrtysouth on Oct-30-2005 20:10:

You are not a true fan if you have to insult other types of trance to try to prove your style is more superior.

Most people on this board suffer from severe Shadenfreude.

and as far as whoring Harthouse, I did that back in the 90's. I moved on. That will always be a part of my past, and I do not feel the need to compare that time of my life with what is going on now. I am happy with my life right now. Maybe the people who claim that music sucks now and was so much better in the past need to look into their souls and see if they were happier with their lives before and not happy now.

yeah i made a post pretty much to this effect in the COR thread too.

tho there does seem to be two arguements going on here. one about what dave has done and others just looking at the situation objectively and saying that its ridiculous for some idiots making jokes to have managed to get rid of a producer from posting.

two very valid arguments but they are being confused.

Dude, I listen to trance the most, and have been a huge fan for almost a decade, and I own G&D records, and if they release music I like, regardless of what I think of Dave, I'll buy it... because I LIKE IT.

Being arrogant is one thing, but if he were the head of a child slavery ring or somesuch, THEN I'd boycott his music.

quote:
Honestly this is sad. First we start to piss off 2 producers.... who is next. Pretty soon tranceaddict will be a name synonymous music haters and flamers. It's been nice going to clubs and if you get a chance to see and talk to the DJ say something that you are with a group from TA here. How many of the blokes that bitch actually go out to the clubs and actually buy music (vs sitting at home downloading all with an elitist attitude). This is probably the start of a downward spiral... especially with the way word of mouth works in this world.

I've met many many djs the past 2 years, and almost all of them have been sound and really nice people.

That doesnt quite excuse those who are not.

quote:
TA has been on a downward spiral for a long time. The jokes involving Dave, Carl Cox and a couple others have been beyond retarded and over-done as fuck. Having said that, dj/producers aren't gods we should idolatrise, by only reserving "nice" comments to them. Especially when one dislikes their music and their attitude. If they can't take a bit of criticism well.. too bad.

Coxy is British, ergo has a good sense of humour most likely, he would/could/can see that those jokes are in no way actually vindictive towards him.

quote:
producers have a responsibility on themselves not to be assholes.... if they're complete jerks, then everyone will know, and they won't buy his/her music.

Wrongo there bud, a really really small percentage of clubbers actually meet djs, let alone producers. How would any of them find out if someone was being an ass?

In fact, I doubt even 0.005% of people interested in EDM are even aware of these particular happenings.

quote:
he'd help out with the tracklistings of his and g&d sets if he saw peeps couldn't complete them; he shared/leaked unofficial remixes and productions; he provided a lot of interesting behind-the-scenes info and he generally seemed like a chill guy -- sucks if he's bounced permanently.

Show me how any of those things are anything more than self promotion?

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Oct-30-2005 20:19:

Woah... Coxy is English? I've had him down as American!

Posted by Denser on Oct-30-2005 20:24:

i aint no schadenfreude. dave dresden for starters is no schadenfreude. if he becomes a schadenfreude he mite keep posting to get some publicity, to fight his misfortune. that day is too far off..

but i agree with you, schadenfreude ppl should not post in this site and i hope your triple post gets rid of all teh schadenfreudes.

As a British-born DJ, Carl Cox comes at house music from a much more acid-influenced perspective than do the American DJs who forged the genre and still epitomize it. Acid is a hard-edged, non-melodic, distortionist style with scant use for vocals, and it plays not well at all with the fans of bodily adornment, Latin rhythms, and plush dark beats who make American house music such a tangible nighttime treat.

well, a reason that i dont post very frequently anymore on this forum is because of all the bullshit going on.

many older TA's who listened to stuff like cj stone and rank 1 couple years ago now bashes the newbies who worship tiesto and a&b. talk about hypocrites. just read posts from, say, 2002 by most users. sometimes it's hard to believe its the same guys.

everyone has been a newbie once, but most people here seem to pretend to be oh so oldschool, which i find really pathetic. lots of people here use knowledge more as a weapon to put down newbies, than to actually share it to "educate" them.

ofcourse some new people seem to be absolutely retards as well. take your time and read, search, gather information before you make your posts. no one gives a shit if you think andy moor or armin is the best dj in the world.

oh, and get rid of the COR.

What I dont get is how some people seem to be on a holy crusade from the gods of music to preach to the heathens.

It's like "You taste's are different to mine, so you are wrong" which is a load of bollocks, as people should listen to whatever they like.

how bout sadly 100% of his post demonstrates exactly what the COR whores have been saying all along? the guy needs to get over... himself.

great productions from G&D no doubt, but having a whinge on an internet forum and posting "special i'm leaving" messages?

el oh el.

well you guys now know his screen name, why not add him to your contact list and feel all giddly coz you've got a high profile producer on your list, and them msg him to feed his ego even more?

Yeah fuck those idiots....

Feed em to Carl Cox!!!!

Posted by david.sound on Oct-30-2005 20:51:

Dave. If you want maturity, I'm going to be honest and straightforward with you. You are full of yourself. No one is interested in that information. Do what you want. What made you feel the need to let us know that you were leaving? Don't answer that. I don't feel at all concerned. I listen to music. And prefer to not have to listen to pretentious artists feeling the need to rant about a subject matter that is redundant and needless to say. If you came here for a goodbye, then I shall bid you good riddance.

Incorrect!! I believe Carl was born in St. Lucia or one of those small carribean islands..and then moved to england at a very young age.

And has now grown to be one of the most respected Techno..and overall dj's worlwide.

and has been known to eat the ocassional fan.
