Thats why I left for TA. The atmosphere is much more laidback, much more educated people and alot of contributors for the IDs and tracklists. Just the fact that famous djs, other boards (incl t.nu) copies the tracklists from here says alot about how important the work done over here is.

+1

same here...

these are the same people that rely on us to ID their unknown tracks, fill in their dj tracklists, give them new tune suggestions that are "spacey" or "vocal" or "chill"...

seriously why are we wasting our time? we all spend a lot of time researching music and finding tunes that we love...we should just stop sharing that with all of these people that are always bitching...

let's face it, those that actually have a genuine interest in talking about music around here are sadly in the minority. i don't remember the last time i actually got a decent answer or good suggestion on this board...i can't remember the last time i found out about a tune on TA that i hadn't already known about...and when i do it's always the same ten people coming through with great sugestions. meanwhile we are excited to share music tastes and ideas with each other just so people with little radio shows can lurk and snatch up some good tracks that we suggest for their show next week.

it's just a bunch of crap. i mean we've already lost the TA battle to a bunch of people that are either promoting their average new tune or their cookie cutter radio show...and those that are just getting into the genre and think they know everything...

it sucks the most for those people that actually appreciate the suggestions of the TA "elitists" and want to expand their personal taste, but unfortunately the majority is ruining it for those people...

but really...lets keep our knowledge and opinions to ourselves. then where will TA be? it'll be a bunch of kids arguing about which tune on ASOT was the best that week, struggling to find new fresh music, wanting to know what that tune that dj played on that radio show was, and wishing they could get some suggestions for some "classics"...

we've tried our best to keep this site full of info, but we've lost...it's not our problem anymore.

I took this quite harsh. But you do what you have to do. But let me tell you something u contribute alot but its not easy it takes alot of time. Personally I take up 90% of my free time searching for various tunes and it doesnt come easy. Thats what these boards were made for. For us to help one another with edm music. So we must stick together...

actually not much but since Africa was one of the frontlines of the cold war and the way USA got involved in different African nations domestic politics and the arrogance they showed against the most poor people is one of the results why there is still so much poverty in Africa today.
I don't want to go into a deeper political debate but as I said American's are not the ones that should make fun of others. Africans the least .

typical post about americans being evil, arrogant, selfish, greedy and being the reason why africa has been the shithole it has been for thousands of years instead of corrupt, brutal dictators who have committed genocide on millions of their own countrymen

but whats easier for blaming their problems than on the Us

might as well blame ALL of the world's problems on America

I always thought that the shit state of modern Africa is down to the actions of European colonists such as the British and Germans in the 19th Century.

no you can't blame all evil on america. but i have met arrogant americans in my life. thats for sure.

not to say that you brought millions of slaves to america and treated them like animals. and the fact that your apartheid was abandoned just like 40 something years ago says alot of your democracy.

Dont forget the slave trade.

You've it all awry. You're thinking of Antigua and the Caribbean and the 20th century, rathrer, which was debased by the British and other European (and American) foreigners, and Creoles. Mind you, this was all after the slave trade.

If you really want to get a good sense of it from the primary source, read "A Small Place" by Jamaica Kincaid. Highly entertaining.

Nice artwork, too:

u know, they took indians too, to Fiji, and the Trinidad/tobago region...

but the indians are doing well on both islands.

That's because Indians can't do hard labour.

On a side note: check out a canadian/indian comedian named russel peters... some funny shit.

I think this thread illustrates exactly what Jason's point is.

Here he is, trying to engage people in a real discussion about the direction things are headed on this board, and a bunch of loser no-names come in and jerk off all over the thread about something completely off topic, but then expect the rest of the know-it-alls to lead them to the proverbial new-music light.

I know that I dont have a lot of new info to contribute all the time, but at least I respect and am grateful to those that do.

You're right. It's not really accurate to say that the US screwed over Africa. Africa was basically sliced up into European colonies and then when all of the European countries pulled out of Africa in the 1960's, 1970's, they left the entire continent without a leg to stand on. Tutsi's and Hutu's, the two ethnic groups that fought in Rwanda are not actually ethnically different at all. They're the same people but the Belgians created a division in order to rule them easier.

Anyways, I'm not pointing blame at any country. I'm half Portuguese and they were the masters of the slave trade for hundreds of years. I'm just saying the US is not really to blame for Africa's current situation.

THATS REALLY STRIKING RIGHT HERE MAN.

WHAT YOU JUST SAID MEANS ALOT TO ME.

THANKS FOR IT.

haha, I can imagine the confusion when a user reads the topic and first page then skips to the last page. Like; "how the hell did this turn into a discussion about slavery and who's to blame for Africa being fked up???!".

On topic though; I need all elitists. Please don't leave, and keep flaming the noobs. It's the way of the INTERNET! I actually don't think all the flaming is that bad, it makes people think twice about posting trash and raises the general quality of threads. Other than that it's entertaining. I can read on and on in a thread that's just turned into a flamewar, as long as there are music-facts being argumented for, disputed and really tested. The problem I feel is when these kind of posts are about things that belong in COR and they are the only posts on the entire first page of MD. One or two is fun, more is to much.

There is room for improvement, and imo it's mostly the elitist-bashers or "noobs" here who should try harder. People who have been here for 4-5 years won't let their beloved forum turn shit without a fight. New users need to respect this and accept what this board is about. It's not all PLUR, and people will voice their opinion in harsh ways, necessary or not. In my opinion the elitists generally show good judgement on where to flame and where not to. And as anywhere else, there are some bad apples. The veteran users have learned to more or less appreciate these, the new users will learn the hard way

now I got to read for my exam. This was a nice waste of half an hour

**AHEM**.. fucked up?... BIGOT !

yeah, this thread is really fucked, no more talks about AFrica from me.

Posted by 303 on Dec-12-2005 13:53:

Even a thread like this which had a completely different purpose by the author, gets hijacked and made to ridicule. Its just sad. Its like cor has taken over the whole board and made TA into something of a playground for pre-teens. The only way I see this being fixed is if the mods and Swamper starts acting for a change back to what TA was about a couple of years ago, and what Floorfiller kind of rightly made an issue about in his first post of this thread.
Theres alot of knowledgeable people on this board which will and to some extent already have stopped posting just because the feedback is shit.
Imo thats also one of the problems, as the knowledge gets drained it wont attract any new.

Uhm, kinda lost my point but oh well, some of you might understand.
