slightly confused why people are actually surprised, these are the most well known trance songs of the year, the most popular simple.

Are you all too retarded to realise that most popular = most popular and not the best.

Most of us are into the music so much we know such a wide variety of music, most people aren't and voted for what they recognized. Big deal and get over it.

If you actually care that much about this list you need to take a serious look in the mirror and question yourself.

This is just what 3934 people think are the best tracks of the year...and there must be millions of people that make up the trance scene. It carries a tiny significance.

WORD!

The thing is..trance starts to be dominating by all the kiddies producers who have reason and all other cracked plugins stuff to produce music.

me wonder big time how peeps like armin , pvd and other supporting this lots of s***
it's taking the money and run i would do it too

all the kidies voting for themselfs and their friends i guess.
where are the real likes like fred baker,m.i.k.e.,max graham, sasha etc

me leaving the scene very soon, but that's personal!

I didn't vote for him, you european person.

Well, there are discrepencys with the voting poll, let me demonstrate:

So I went to www.arminvanbuuren.net

and this caught my eye at first:

9 Mike Foyle Versus Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk (Mike's Broken Record Mix) 730 1.24% 211
Mike Foyle Versus Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk 533 0.9% 169

Considering theres version of Love Theme Dusk with no mix attached to this, naturally this caused me to wonder... was LTD's placement skewed by this? I mean, the votes been distributed fairly closely between those two songs, and so I check out the master track list...

Mike Foyle Versus Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk
Mike Foyle Versus Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk (Airbase Presents Parcremix)
Mike Foyle Versus Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk (Mike's Broken Record Mix)
Mike Foyle Versus The Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk (Avb's Intro Edit)

Now, to the extent of my knowledge, theres 3 official mixes of Love Theme Dusk, and AvBs played Mike's Broken record mix and the Airbase presents Parc remix. The song was listed as Love Theme Dusk (with no remix tagged to the back of it) before it became bigger (IE the first ASOTs that it came on like 186/187), but it was still Mike's Broken Record mix, just not listed as it. Also, the AvB intro edit is also Mike's Broken Record mix, just with a small introduction change - not enough to warrant it a unique listing to steal away the votes from Mike's Broken Record mix.

People that thought Mike's Broken Record Mix was the best mix may have accidentally voted for either 'Love Theme Dusk' or 'Love Theme Dusk (AvB's Intro Edit)', which are the same track as Mike's Broken Record mix. I was wondering why LTD was so low on the charts compared to its immense popularity, and this is the reasoning.

Maybe this is just a slight nuance, but it definately throws a a bit of doubt towards the validity of the poll.

Shut the fuck up.

And DarkMemoria, yeah I was thinking that myself about Love Theme Dusk. For what it's worth, I actually prefer the original Signalrunners Mix to Mike Foyle's version. But yeah, since Armin never played that version, it wouldn't make sense to have it in the top 20.

But hell, the whole thing was fucked up. What was Cafe Del Mar doing in there?

Oh yeah it's definitely overrated but it was still one of the best tracks in that top 20.
To be honest, Airbase probably got a lot of votes from trance.nu, where he posted on the Top 20 news entry "vote for Escape".

Where the hell is Perasma on this list? Surprised it didn`t make the top 20.

Posted by eRRaTiK on Dec-25-2005 03:12:

so what did the ASOT poll prove?

any poll that starts with a shit list of options will inevitably end up with a shit result.

why are people surprised?

I've listened to trance for many years, and I think this year's mix is better than the last year's. For those who started listening to trance somewhere in 2002-2003, it may seem worse this year, as they start to grow out of trance at this moment.

The same thing will happen next year. Those who are new to trance now, will say how much better 2005 was better than 2006.
