+1

bagging a certain type of music because you dont like it annoys the shit outta me
i like uplifting/melodic trance (as well as house, tech, prog, psy) just as much as the next guy but i'll still admit i like hard trance just as much. some of the best sets i have ever seen have been hard trance acts. guys like walt, derb, yoji, k90 have just totally blown me away.

having said that, hardstyle isnt really my thing which is fine i just let the ppl that like it, enjoy it (insert mandi here) :P

XOX

Ah Mandi, you have the best attitude out!!

I think bagging a previously loved style depends if the drugs were overdone; you'll stop overdoing them at some point, and realise the drugs FOOLED you into thinking shit music was good. Or, the hardstyle music simply starts to remind you of trashiness previously experienced and you have to turn and run from the inglorious past...

I would like to know what came first?

Really, really pounding hardstyle shit music, forcing people to take more drugs to have even a bearable time or;

Too much speed resulting in patrons demanding it harder and faster.

lol at this thread.

yes, i think i've pointed out to you before mandi that i used to like hard trance. but i've moved on, "grown up." i used to be more into hard nrg which is difference and doesn't really exist anymore.

i moved on from that to more melodic trance but have always luved thumping strong basslines. too much fluff does my head in if there's no good bassline happening.

the story continues with the first time i really listened to tek properly from gerry's i-river whilst mangling at my place after some party. i actually listened and couldn't believe how fucking amazing it was. why haden't i listened to it properly before? g quickly filled me in on different style of tek etc, and soon enough i found out for myself what styles i liked. i learned about detroit tek and dj preach.

collabs party with chris liebing v speedy j was one of the best parties i've ever been to. couldn't belive how amazing it was. for the first time in ages i couldn't stop dancing and every two seconds i kept looking over to g in utter amazement.

might end by longest post ever on ta with yes, hard trance sucks, yes i was young and un-educated back then, but yes i grew up and now i thank god (& g) that i've finally attained the education i have received. i WILL bag the genre and i Wlll continue to bag it

kthxby

the only style i will bag with absolutely no quarter or mercy is happy hardcore (i actually made someone leave a house party because i would not stop ranting and raving about how shit their taste in music was and that they wore phat pants to a house party), other styles that i dont like are just left alone because it is not worth the effort or i am still sober

Posted by MiSSyM on Apr-21-2006 04:34:

haha Tori with some people I think you are on the money.
With some people its all about the drugs. Ive met a few people who really couldnt give a shit about the music & just went to get fukt up. Its tragic isnt it.

ahhahahahaha lol@

The music alone gives me energy & excitement! hahahaha

LOL Sezzy, wow your longest post dedicated to me.
You can bag it all you like, Im not hear to try and stop you bagging it, I just found it strange that once you were introduced to new sounds you just 'forgot' & started bagging the music you once rocked to! Thats all

Oh and another thing, BEING EDUCATED DOESNT MEAN ANYTHING TO DO WITH MUSICAL GENRES! You can know dj names, track names, etc so in that sense you can be educated within that musical genre, but to CLAIM THAT YOU ARE EDUCATED NOW BCOZ YOU STOPPED LIKING A CERTAIN GENRE, IS JUST BULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLFKNSHIT! hahahaha LOL@ people who think this, I know Paulie thinks this 'OH YEH ONLY EDUCATED PEOPLE LIKE PROG' but before that it was 'EDUCATED PEOPLE LOVE TRANCE' lol you can all think what you like, everyone has different tastes, its nothing to do with being 'EDUCATED'.

If you were really educated you would have realised this.

I do believe you're right!! I like bits of everything, even the stuff I can't dance to, some of it is just amazing to listen to.
I think it's sad that people close their minds to any of the music. I don't think a closed mind is an educated mind.

education and elitism are two very different things, meditate on this we must.

I went to this briefly on sunday nite... THe place was rocking off its tits, each to their concerning the music, but you can not take away the fact the place was going spastic.

MissyM, i think you havent noticed yet, but the majority of people that have posted in this thread are GIMPS.

Posted by Dr P on Apr-21-2006 10:12:

I only read this cause I saw Paulie posted in it.

I am uneducated about EDM as anybody and I can see Hard Trance is shit.

Back in the day Sezzy only went out to get fucked up. (or so it seemed )

why?

the ppl in au.ta are the best in what they do. not even half the general population in CV got the knowledge as encyclopedic as we are. and from that half you can deduce that some of them are actually au.ta making their own fun in there!

i couldn't think of any other bunch of ppl more deserving to call themselves elitist (except maybe ppl on thescene.com.au ) . and for that reason alone, bagging shit music is our bread and butter!

You really are a LOSER!

Once again bringing up Hellraiser's name only because you hate him and his music. Gee, you must have really been into your candy raver nrg music if you are that ASHAMED and suddenly 'educated' about other genres now LOL

You sound like a broken record.

hmmm i get the feeling that this thread is going to develop into one of those threads that narcism would put a stop to because people were figthing too much, but she is not here what a shame.

Posted by sezzy on Apr-22-2006 04:21:

yes...it is a shame now isn't it

poor anita. it's alright. your obsession with hellraiser will end one day and then you'll look back and think "geez how un-educated was i back then"

Posted by Dean Millson on Apr-22-2006 05:13:

uneducated?

now you really are starting to sound like a techno fan

Posted by tathi on Apr-22-2006 05:35:

the most 'educated' people i've met in the scene have also been the most open minded towards other genres. They'll be listening to Bjork and Radiohead along with Mark Farina and Cosmic Baby. I'd personally rather hear PKC on the toilet after dropping 10 laxatives than Hellraiser, but i wouldn't brand someone who likes Hellraiser as 'uneducated' when she also loves Lawler, Howells, Pappa, et al.
