yeah, the last time chicago got that much snow was in 1998-1999 when the blizzard hit right after new years, and in 1999-2000

I remember that blizzard like it happened yesterday. It happened a few days before school resumed from winter break, and yet we STILL got 2 snow days.

Damn, it seems like it would be soooo much more. Then again, we got a lot of ice storms as well, and clearly that wouldn't add to the overall season accumulation. Its been a bitch of a winter either way, bring on the heat and humidity!

How is the snow plowed like that.

Here in nyc the truck pile the snow on the side of the cars.

if i remmeber correctly, we got the two snow days because of the temps/wind chills.....it was like -40F w/ the wind... i remember standing at the fucking bus stop freezing...waiting for the goddamn bus to show up...and finally one of the neighbors came out of their house and told us school had been cancelled

They hadn't cleaned up the last storm from two days ago, and now in yesterday's freak storm we got another 35cm of snow/ice mixture. Our front and side doors won't open, so we're still trying to figure out a plan for getting out of the house (might have to use a window). The car is buried up to the top of the doors (we can barely see the red roof and the spoiler sticking out). We can barely see the top branches of our tree in the front lawn - there must be at least 6-7 meters of snow piled up there. Mia had to go pee this morning and we couldn't figure out a way to open the patio door to the yard because it's buried in 3 feet of snow and all the edges are frozen solid into the frame, so we had to cut a hole through the screen to let her out.

damn, im glad this huge snow storm hit Toronto on the weekend. If it hit any earlier it would have made life difficult. There's about 1ft to 2ft of snow everywhere!

You're probably right. In fact, I think the electricity at our school was out as well, which is another reason for a snow day. Or should I call it a electricity day(s).

Damn Project-K, get some shovels and dig a network of tunnels. It'll be fun!

I'm contemplating ducttaping the front of a shovel to my dog and then throwing pieces of bacon out the window.

...just about the head out to get some supplies. it will be interesting to see the damage so to say, snow is pilled pretty high.

Well now it turns out our neighbor has borrowed his uncle's snow plow and he's cleaning up everything.

In return we are baking him a cake

Posted by mezzir on Mar-09-2008 23:23:

god damnit
we're not getting hit that hard, especially compared to ohio who just got fucking slammed, but still. massachusetts' snow-removal budget hsa been used up already. and by already, i mean was used up the day before the first snowfall. so yeah, the roads are just fucking terrible right now. one of the three major roads into UMass from the center of town has potholes that're getting really fucking deep, probably a solid 4-5" by now. and there are potholes a shitload worse than that, but still thats on a narrow road thats one of the busiest streets in town. god damn my car hates me

and when you haven't had any snow on the ground for almost 2 months now, it's just a blessing to get slammed with something amazing like this.

Fixed

Do yourself a favour and buy a snowboard
your views on snow will change dramatically

We got huge downpours of rain. Some areas got .75 inches an hour. But here in Florida, it's nice enough to keep the windows open all day.
