i thought we were playing with random white sox players. bobby thigpen is a pretty well known guy. like shamez said he holds the record for saves in a season.

yah you got me there, I did used to cheer for them way back when.
Every other season or so we'd drive up to Baltimore to see a game, and the only two baseball cards I've managed to keep over the years are my two Cal Ripken rookies. I dropped the Orioles pretty fast though (haha I was like 10 or 12) but they fired that good manager of theirs b/c of his conflict w/ the owner, and since then the team has gone to complete shit. Their owner sucks balls, and its one of the worst teams to play for.

Mebot ever go to any Cannons games?. I just heard they are changing their name to the Nationals. Minor League games kick ass, I used to come home with like 5 foul balls a game when I was little, and I remember chasing them down w/ like 30 other kids all of us going crazy for them.

LOL

Actually I hate Barroid, Palmeiro, and "Say it Ain't" Sosa. I only love Juiceambi because he's the king of patience. He won't chase a ball even 1 inch outside the plate. He takes so many pitches wearing out the opposing pitchers. When he gets his pitch after at least 3-4 pitches per at bat, he's driving it. 14 of his 23 hits have been for extra bases. He's money and utilizing HGH very well.

Youks, Johnson, and Dunn do that too... without steroids!

And I love Barry Bonds.

Posted by Member of X on May-09-2006 23:02:

Giambi was AL player of the month so he's doing it at a higher level than those other guys. Dunn does that but he K's more and traditionally would have a lower batting average than Juice. Juice is hitting over .300 and leads MLB in walks.

But yeah, the HGH would be in the same benefit as your boy Barroid received.

I'm a hypocrite because Juice is helping my team. I just love him taking pitch after pitch, spitting out after each, and then waiting and hitting those upper deck blasts. FEED HIM MORE JUICE!

By the way, Ron Kittle would have been a superstar on the juice. haha

seems that Juan Pierre stole HR #714 from Bonds, with a great catch at the fence

i cant believe no one's mentioned young's 50 game suspension. if anyone can watch that tape again, watch the catcher after he sees the ump get nailed. he just looks at and walks away. pure comedy.

delmon young, i think he's dimitri young's brother or something

Bonds seems to have the most attention ever received by someone going for a 2nd place record

about early-season surprises, how about those Reds and Rockies?
Who thinks they'll still be around and in the race in September?
Or will they collapse like the Nats and Orioles last year?

Interesting that Rockies are playing better away from Coors than at home.
The Mets-Reds games at Shea later this month have tickets being sold at Value prices (starting at $5) - such a deal!

Posted by partyhopper on May-12-2006 04:19:

wow, in his first game back from the DL, Ken Griffey Jr hit a 3-run walk-off home run

Posted by medinaM5 on May-12-2006 04:29:

sucks for matsui, he wrist got pwned, and so did his streak of consecutive games played

Posted by jonze on May-12-2006 17:04:

aaron rowand fought the wall and the wall won. fyi philly fans, we didnt call him 'crash' for nothing.

that was a sick play, which saved 3 runs
too bad for Rowand that the padding that he had asked for wasn't installed in time
after that, the rain helped the Phils take the rubber game against the Mets
the downpour conveniently started right after 4.5 innings had passed, and it became an official game
No worries though

that, along with Sheffield being out, will weaken the Yankee lineup
there will probably be more pitching around A-Rod and Giambi

the philly fans will probably boo him for every catch he makes onward since they'll probably not gonna top that one

yeah no way I woulda sacrificed my body like that for any Philly fan.

He broke his nose right? I hope he can still bat.. my fantasy team is in the TANK.

Posted by jonze on May-13-2006 00:40:

i loved rowand when he was here because his defense is top notch, but that play last night was just nuts. good thing he didnt try that stuff at wrigley field with nothing to protect him but ivy.

Posted by Magnetonium on May-13-2006 00:41:

Whats the big deal about this Cole Hamels guy (Phillies). All I know is that he's a rookie making his first start today and that he's got that sick 36-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio. So far today he had some walks, which definitely hurt that ratio.

Any additional info would be great.

Posted by partyhopper on May-13-2006 04:18:

in Hamels' debut vs. Reds - 5 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 5 walks, 7 K's
