I personally like TIL because it's the one club where my guy didn't mind going on an EDM night. Usually in his opinion all he sees is a sausage fest with sweaty, nasty guys without their shirts on dancing and a bunch of cracked out ppl. Also the way people dress at EDM clubs is pathetic. He refuses to ever go to guv on sat (which is fine cuz i'll go with the girls). Since we do tend to travel quite a bit and have gone to clubs in Miami/NYC/Vegas he does tend to compare to those clubs and Toronto's just usually don't compare. For me at least the experience/atmosphere at TIL comes semi-close than most of the other clubs in t.o.

I obviously love EDM music and love getting dressed up so this club definitely is a bonus! Also, my experience with the bouncers has been pretty good. One night I didn't expect to be at TIL and they asked if I was on guestlist and I basically said I wasn't "this week" and they let me in. Then again it's all about confidence with bouncers...I have never had to really stand in line anywhere whether it be in Miami or Vegas...just be nice and talk to them. They are people after all too.

You all try to imply that the owners and managers don't know how the bouncers act. They're the storefront of the management, and control who comes in the club, which is ultimately what the mgmt wants. Don't think for one minute that the owners don't specify exactly who they want inside. Door people like that are not easy to come by, and don't think you'll see them gone any time soon.

I haven't been to TIL in a couple years, but know that it's more lenient than it has been known to be on a typical Saturday night. This isn't a new thing, except you want to go there now. TIL has had a pretentious crowd for its entire existence.

Also, think for a minute that these DJs also take into consideration where they're playing and who they're playing in front of. I'm quite certain that they occasionally want to spin in front of a good-looking and stylish upscale crowd.

Most of the people who didn't get in are those who tried to walk the tightrope, wearing oversized clothes, a backup pair of shoes that they would rather wear than ones they knew would be acceptable, going with a crowd of guys. You thought for hours before you went to the club what you needed to do, and eventually decided what you were going to do, and lost the battle. The jumping age bar kinda sucked for some of you, but if it's 21+, it's 21+. What did you guys do when you were 18 and wanted to go to Guv? You found a way to get in, right? Well, find a way to get into TIL. It's not going to seem like System or Boa, and not even so much like The Drink.

i dont think YOU see the point.
it has always been about the "in" crowd and the "in" place to go.
soho fridays is still in its baby stages and is considered to be one of toronto's friday night hotspots. people want to go where everyone else goes... therefore the "in" crowd and "in" venue.

there are many clubs that leave everything to the bouncer's discretion. look at los angeles, miami, nyc, etc..
toronto gets one club like this and everyone cries. people just need to suck it up and realize that they are not the club's target clientel and move on. these are the people that want to be part of an "in" crowd but dont like to admit that they arent. i know that im not what TIL wants in their venue and i accept that. i prefer footwork on fridays anyway.

Anyone that has lined up for space miami can attest to this one
Bouncers regularly allow people in who slip them a $100 bill before they let in people with pre purchased tickets, they abuse everyone , DJ's , other club staff , VIP's , they don't care , but people still line up all night and its still packed

and thats exactly how TIL was before charles got involved and that is how it still is today..

deal with it, people!

ummm so because say a DJ that I really wanna see happens to show up in toronto goes to play at TIL, that obviously means that I want to be part of the "in" crowd....riiiight.....ma bad

Do you think all DJs accept every gig offered to them? That they never pick and choose? They never have options to choose one place over another, and do so based on these qualities?

If that's the case, then tell me which DJ(s) you have heard of that are so appalled at what goes on, or has gone on, at TIL's doors that they will never return there for a gig.

And the fact that you are a female.....and since I've never met you....I will assume you are an attractive female....you don't think that has something to do with the bouncers being nice to you?

The people complaining are not complaining because there is a dress code....they are complaining because there is no consistency with the rules that get you into TiL. Make the rules clear and people will stop complaining. If you get in one week and the next week wear the same outfit and don't get in....it tells me there is something wrong.

In general, if you are a female you are not going to have a problem getting in......plain and simple. If you are a guy then there is gonna be possible problems....that is the way the club is.....fine....if you are a guy and want to get in then get on guestlist and show up early dressed like a million bucks. If the club only holds say 1000 people. The club will want to make sure that at least half the club is females.

Of course DJs have choices and will choose which clubs they play...but I highly doubt the attractiveness level of the audience is what makes their decision.

u just contradicted urself right there..

DJs first off arent the ones that go around getting booked. its their booking agents that do it for them. having spoken to several booking agents, they ask u the size of the club, and the name for prestige sake to know how much they can charge the event coordinator. thats it.

DJs just go and spin wherever cos they expect that all their fans WILL be there regardless so it shouldnt really make a difference.

u dont know EVERYTHING Dave

EDIT: there may be a handful of djs that pick and choose but its usually if they like or dislike people in the management

I never said I did? You're such a little bitch, guy...you reply to me and hope to prove me wrong, thinking that it's never happened and I'm going to jump off of a bridge.

Seriously, I've never talked to a booking agent, and never claimed to. Of course, you've talked to a few, so you assume they all have the same preferences.

you sure act like you've conquered some online RPG kingpin when you assume you've done so to me.

regardless, think of this. you'd never see a trance DJ at TIL, and i think JZ is about as close as it would get. house is a more pretentious and stylish genre, if there is such a thing, such as deep dish playing at brant, and so on, where only certain people are permitted entry. that's where I'm deducing that you're likely to see some DJs might have preferences as to the venue as well, but let's not run with that, since it's just an assumption.

TIL is a great club. Its a handsome looking venue, with so many attractive girls. Sanchez tore it up, as did deep dish when i saw them there before, so on the DJ front, its top notch too. Crowd is a bit pretentious, but there's still the music lovers in there. Regardless of what you might say Sasha, many people in there did have style and did know about the music. So I wouldn't generalize, b/c that means you're shifting the ignorance scale from the bouncers to yourself. I mean, you wouldn't be dissing all the patrons that got in if you yourself got in, so why don't we put this jealous sob story to rest. I'm really only sorry that Tristan didn't get in b/c he can bust it old skool.
