if you can float across shark infested waters on a beach ball strapped to a toilet seat, i believe you have the right to stay in the country.
Buoyancy is next to godliness.

furthermore, you probably only speak that one language.

it's interesting to see people come down so callously on illegal immigrants of latin origin, when it was just yesterday, it seems, that your people came here. so what, now that it's convenient for you, you can look down on someone else? it's wasn't that long ago that you were being looked down on as well. have you forgotten?

Finally, we didn't all just wake up one day and said, "gee, i think i'll go north." The situation in Central America and Mexico are at the point they are right now for a reason, and frankly, that discourse would take too long to establish here on TA.

ps. JDAT you're OK M8

yep +uno

I have to apologize because I have truth in mouth syndrome but...

no matter how young, or how old - the furthest you will see any of these mexicans progress is unpacking and packing fruit/food and bagging groceries. But you know what, I dont mind, because they pay their dues to uncle sam.

Give me a year so that I can graduate with a Bachelors in Biology and so that I can take the MCAT... but what does what I do have to do anything?

Im talking about older people already - young people have everything ahead of them, and dont get me started on the education system we have in this country.

Most of the immigrants I've seen and met work/ed their asses off at car washes, cleaning houses, gardening, etc., just like your dad did. Of course there are always those that and are only here to cause trouble, but is there really a statistic that proves that most of them are like this, like someone mentioned earlier?
About getting social security numbers, yes, its very easy, go to Queens and you'll find the mafias ready to sell you these numbers, heck, you can even buy a Harvard diploma for like $200, but the SSN won't get you anywhere. It's mostly only used to get a job, such as cleaning hospital floors. You can't apply for welfare with those numbers, ppl are too scared of getting caught, and I believe it really isn't that hard to find who's SSN is being misused like this.
Illegal immigrants are underpaid, they don't pay any taxes that's true, but they don't get anything back either, so saying that your tax dollars go towards them is ridiculous.
Some advance when they win the green card lottery or eventually get residency when some law opens for a few months, but Latins in general do move up/like to move up.

i'm sorry. i will longer play with you, since apparently you are not up to par. just keep your asinine comments to yourself.

ciao.

I am not sure how you define regulated but when you work for a temp agency you are also paying taxes and there is a paycheck and stuff ( I don't know if that's the case everywhere ).

I worked through a temp agency on a long term job for a little over 10 months and everything was legit W2 etc.

Cause I know alot of illegals work through temp agencies, but I think alot of them are shady.

i'm latin, but i have to say, alot of the hispanic people who live here in Miami are assholes. In my opinion, if you come live in the United States, learn the language! Or atleast try to learn it. I work with people face to face(pharmacy) and let me tell you, our worst customers are the hispanic people. They think they own the fucking place!! It gets me so fucking pissed when someone insults some of my co-workers for not being able to speak spanish. State fucking medicaid pays for their fucking medication, yet they insult the country by refusing to even try to learn the damn language. I have problems speakin spanish myself mind you, so I'm lucky to not have to deal with them too much. But they're an embarrasment guys. I'm torn on this issue. They are my people but damn, their ignorance has gotten to the point of no return. I once got reported to the district for not speaking spanish to one of my managers after there was a problem with a customers meds. The guy started screaming at me, telling why I was speaking English. I speak english way better than i do spanish. Damn I was mad that day. It's sad to say, but a good percentage of immigrants are like that. I understand the fact that it's hard to learn a language at an old age, but guess what? My parents are 50 something, and they've learned a good portion of it.

ahhhhh....

Well I have only dealt with temp agencies for office jobs with salaries of 12+ $ an hour so not quite the same stuff as labor temp agencies who may have illegals.

I've never seen immigrants work through temp agencies, maybe some do, but usually when someone gets here, in the case of Latinos, they help each other out in terms of finding a job, etc. I guess the way it works is that someone knows someone (illegal) that works at X, and this person helps the new guy find a job there by asking his/her supervisor/whoever. These are all really low jobs, they might give you an interview to get the general gist of you, if you don't speak English, some speak Spanish, or you can bring your friend as a translator
Also, a lot of the ppl that distribute newspapers to homes are illegal immigrants, you'd be surprised, that's a job that even though it has real shitty hours, it pays pretty well...
How do I know all this? I've met and talked to plenty them...
Now, I need to get back to studying for my midterm, be back tomorrow

I know what youre talking about, I know people who have done it. Alot of it is office work from what people tell me, alot of managerial stuff.

Oh, one more thing, learning the language is a must for everyone. It does piss me off seeing ppl move to a country and expect everyone else to adapt to them, adapt yourself! It's sad to see ppl living here for so many years and still don't speak the language. One of the main reasons for this is that they only communicate with other ppl of the same culture and never talk to any Americans. I guess you can blame this on fear...
I've personally moved a lot, and have always had to adapt to the new cultures, I don't see why other ppl wouldn't...no necessity?

I agree. Im learning Spanish right now so I can move to Mexico & live like a king.

No for real, i wanna learn Spanish since I plan on doing some extensive travels to Central, South America & Spain. I'd rather be prepared than to hope where i would be the people speak english. Also Spanish is the 2nd most spoken language in the world. So why not know it. Plus its similar to Italian but not as sexy.
