i'm from texas, i'm fully aware of how lame the south is and never intended to live there again. people are friendlier there, but it's just so backwards, dull and homogenous.

Exactly. It is nice that people tend to be friendlier here -- the general demeanor of the North is much more icy and cynical than Southern hospitality -- but that friendliness can sometimes seem so naive and shallow given the ignorance that persists everywhere.

I'm fleeing for Vancouver the first chance I get.
