i think its valid to feel uncomfortable being in really, really close quarters with people wearing very little clothing when they are that hot. its so nasty to have someone squeeze by you in a crowd and get all their sweat all over you in the process.
like, its not the end of the world by any stretch, but its still nasty.nasty =+)

So yeah....the line-up was a disaster, blame it on it being the grand opening, blame it on extremely poor organization or a little of both...but either way the light at the end of the line up was one of the best parties I've been to in a long time.

The one thing that sticks in my head from last night...the look on my friends faces was one that I haven't seen in a long time and I wish the ones that weren't there could've experienced being in a true club again.

Congratulations Carey. (which at the end of the night looked like he had 5000lbs taken off his shoulders)

Glad I avoided the opening (and not like I could of made it even if I wanted to). I remeber heading to Boas grand-reopening and the shit-show the lineup was, and from the sounds of it - this was 10x worse.

That being said - really looking forward to hitting up Sonic in the near future.

A grand opening with a lineup like that, for a club that has alot of hype around it, I'm not supprised to hear the reviews of it and the mess that the lineup was, *shrug*

Either way, going to give it a weekend or two and then check it out for myself --- gluck Sonic, and hope you guys get things smoothed out for the upcomming weeks. I'm not going to let the negative reviews from opening night turn me off, going to see it for myself 1st hand.

It was great to get there at around 7 am...perfect timing!! Madonna was playing when I walked up the stairs... OMG... and the vibe was the best... everyone..thanks!!

Breakfast of champions - hot dog and sourkraut!

Danced til 11 am... David Morales picked it up for 30 minutes when I got there... then the tempo went back to normal... a little slow for my liking... but good nonetheless.

Was very happy that you could make it out RabbitJoker!! MUAH!!

And to those of you I did not say goodbye to at the end... i'm sorry...i thought you left!!!

Tara...GIRL...you are the BEST!!!!

Jeff...Can't wait til C and C.... see ya then !!!

=)

so true.

I'm looking forward to checking the place out sometime soon...but opening night? hell no, lol.

as for people being somewhat surprised at the gay crowd...LMAO...just look at the residents...Nevio, Morales, Honey Dijon, Calderone, Grondin, etc. um...get used to it, lol.

Posted by samhouse on May-01-2006 00:02:

thank god we had tickets...sounds like a fiasco that whole lineup.
Lauren and myself got there around 6.30am and no lineup was anywhere to be seen .

Didn't stay too long...till about 9am..legs gave way. Didn't make it to zone after like planned. One thing which annoyed me was heat....wayyy to hot in there...and this was AFTER coming from an almost unbearable guvernment mainroom.

My first time seeing Morales....sick sick sick DJ. He was having tonnes of fun and dropped some good tunes in the process. Lil slow at times but not overly so.

next chus and ceballos!

^^^ damn...you guys went after Guv? I was destroyed after A&B. hardcore!

Posted by AC-Milan on May-01-2006 00:10:

is someone going to post the hours of operation of this place? I'd like to pay it a visit next week. of course after the Drink.

Posted by The Highroller on May-01-2006 01:56:

All line issues aside (and just for the record, I waited 2.5hrs in line), I had an amazing time. Musically, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would and I the party was everything I hoped for. There will be many more saturdays spent at that place, that's for sure.

It's good to be home!

(more later)

David let Nevio get back on around 1:30pm (where he tossed on Ian Carey - Say What U Want), and the 100+ people still around went off

We left shortly after that......

Glad it was a grest night for the most of you. Not sad to have missed out though as i would not have waited 2 hrs in line for a party...why???

B/c there is always next time!!

Posted by Halycon on May-01-2006 02:55:

aside from the mess in the line up, having a bouncer across from the door selling VIP access didn't help much, it only added to the bubble of people trying to push their way in. was a great party after the 3 hrs Bryan Ronnie n I waited in line . and those stairs just after the doors are deadly, especially with a group of bimbo's pushing their way up " excuse us, we have to get up here were the dancers..from whisky. " wut ever. once we got in tho, the party was rocking, heard good tunes from Kunkles, and MOrales... and once again after finding Ronnie and Bryan again spent the morning sketchin out on the back smokers patio.

i will be back, just not too soon, Good Luck Sonic.

Hopefully, some kind of "Keep your fucking shirt on" policy will be implemented in the near future. Not that I have anything against the gay people, I just want to breath some fresh air
For instance, look at Guvy, everytime someone takes his shirt off there, the bouncers make him put it back on.

I hate when guys take off their shirts in the middle of the dance floor...it's fucking disgusting.

I wanna hear what the ladies think of that

Posted by She_Fitz on May-01-2006 05:09:

It does appear to be divided.. those who got in and those who did not.

We took advantage of the VIP upgrade and it still took a good 45 minutes to get in the door. Although it is not the desired option I still firmly believe and extra $20 is worth 2 hours of my time.

Once inside it was fine. The music was not quite to my liking but still very enjoyable. It just meant that my vocal chords got more action than my feet.

I had room to move around and not feel like a sardine. I love the new look. The leveled off floor is a great treat.. even though I found myself looking for steps..

I am also happy that the washrooms on the lower level are now open until the end.

It had a good balance between the gay and straight crowd. This is a bonus when your group is split right down the middle.

All in all I had fun. Real fun. I had hoped that Saturday was going to be the night that would break the rut that post Miami had left. It did just that..

Having said that .. they need to work out the issues with the lineups. The ticket holders lineup should not have been moving that slowly.. (yes, I should have patiently waited and I am sure it may have helped to speed things up - if things ran smoothly I would not feel forced into that option) That was ridiculous... I will go back because all and all the bar offers what I am looking for in a night out. I can take the good with the bad. Waiting in line versus drunk idiots. Hmmm... hard choice.

Yes, opening nights tend to not go as planned so Sonic please take this as homework and fix it for upcoming events.

Posted by StereoPrincess on May-01-2006 05:20:

Could someone comment on the washrooms?

Any major issues?

That is my biggest worry about that place.
