damn giant is the organizer. i hesitate to go to the downtown la show. if i go, i was planning to buy the ticket at the door. but, i am afraid they may jack up the price since it will be another historic moment in shady downtown. i do not want my money go to these bastards.

All this really urks me because it's happening at a time when the scene is still struggling to get back on its feet. There will be a day down the road where charging such high prices will be acceptable. When the scene is strong. When people are fighting over tickets week in and week out.

But right now, the scene should be inviting and prices reasonable. Club owners and organizer SO need to see this!! (example: Ten15 in SF charges $20 minimum at the door no matter the night -- at least when I have gone -- and it seriously needs to drop those prices on non-big nights to make the place more inviting. Or make it scale pricing w/o the need for guestlist signup. eg. $7 before 10:45pm, then $10 -12 before midnight. $15 between midnight and 2am, then $10 or less afterwords. You make the place more inviting, more peopel show up, and you make up costs difference in the bars.)

If it was a huge multi-thousand person event, then I can see ticket prices getting higher and higher because there's plenty of room and plenty of opportunity to get one of the cheaper tickets (think Monster Massive in LA or Popsicle/LoveFest Afterarty in SF....hell, think AvB and ATB down in LA. Going to be way more than 4,000 peeps flowing through the night).

If the DJ was just ludicrously priced, then OK. But I doubt it's necessary to charge $100 for Armin on a Thursday night. Hell, when he or like Ferry plays in SF on a non-weekend night, tickets are usually $15 or $20!!!

I wish you would have paid attention to your Econ 101 class. This venue is NOT for the little guy. That's what you have Spundae, 4th&B, Avalon, etc.. for!!

You don't want to pay that price, then you should drive a little farther to Spundae. As for the sound, I know the promoters brought it in for Deep Dish and it was incredible. TURBO SOUND panels, set up by sound engineers, takes less than 2 hours!!

Stupidity irritates me.

As for the shoes, don't worry. For the guys, if you wanna get some hot ass and mingle with some of the finest girls in town, then dress to impress. If you wanna dance, wear your puma's or diesels. Just come and have fun. I know the venue. They will not be sticklers unless your wearing your Nike tennis shoes that double for your workout shoes.

And unfortunately, if you can't afford it, then that sucks and maybe you should be thinking more about your future finances then a fucking $100 ticket. But do you complain that a Mercedes Benz is "too expensive for the little guy so FUCK them??""" Wake up.

Halo your correct, someone finacial status doesnt make them fake, not interested or not knowledgeable. So let me edit my post. I was trying to convey my dislike of the attitude that is prevelent in that particular area with many people. I wasnt attacking people who are wealthy, I wish I had more money!

The effect is, that Giant, the lounge or both realize that due to the location and demographic, they can bump the price as high as they want and they know it will sell out eitherway. Good Business, Bad Karma!

If I lived in SoCal I would probably still avoid this event just because I know it's going to be full of drunk idiots trying to impress everyone around them and being pushy, rude, and spilling drinks all over everyone at the same time.

BTW, I got a 98 in Economics. There's a lot more to economics than a quick buck. Especially in the EDM industry where it's largely ran on passion. Thank you.

Bust out the calculator. Let's assume Armin charges $xxx. A 1500 capacity venue needs to charge $35. But for the same revenue, a 500 capacity venue needs to charge.......$105. Wow. Simple math is so amazing.

"MONSTER FUCKING MASSIVE"???? Keep those lollypop sucking, rolled out kids the hell out of my scene and bring me "The Beautiful OC" WOMEN!!!!!!! Shit. What a fucking joke. Yah, I think the "motive" of the people behind this show is to keep a certain element out. And in fact, it's these successful people that will bring the scene "back" if it was ever alive to begin with. The reason "the scene" never got off and "died" is because the fans were always on drugs and unemployed, with smelly ass, ripped up, hippy-wanna-be clothes that made the whole thing look like an SF drug party. The ONLY way the scene will pick up is if real, successful, well-dressed, responsible, alcohol drinking adults SUPPORT IT.

Stupidity reallly irritates me. You should suck on your lollypop and leave the playin to the players.

IT is NOT Giant...Giant is helping promote the event along with a couple of other companies...but 100 is rediculous, and Giant did not propose that hike nor advocate it. This is the doing of the venue...

Vxman: Which bastards do you speak of? If it is the club then I agree, and I would protest buying a ticket that expensive...but if the bastards you are speaking of is "damn Giant," the "organizer" then you are accusing the wrong people...

You know what, you're totally right. I grew up jumping over fences and ditching security at raves cuz I was a little guy. But since then, I've been to 19 countries to see Deep Dish. I've seen Sander, Hernan, PVD and Tiesto all over the world. But you know what, I worked my ass off to get here.

I appreciate what this venue and promoters are doing. For me to pay $100 so I don't have to drive 1 hour north or south to see one of my favorites is a true gift which is priceless to me.

And as a way of giving back something to the hardcore fans making the trip from SD to see AVB on Thursday, I hear rumors that Orange Vibe will be giving all patrons a free ticket to see DANNY FUCKING HOWELSS on Friday at 4th & B. Danny Howells!!! Simply insane. I hope it's true. I can't imagine how they could do this, but if they do, they will definately be on my "A" list of promoters. Only people that truly understand house music and understand that events like Thursday's will hurt some hard core fans in the pocket book would be willing to go out and buy a block of tickets for Danny Howells (probably at a discount) and give them away to the fans.

And, I'm willing to buy any TA poster a drink at the club. Let's all wear a glowstick around our neck so we can spot each other. Any glowstick wearing lollypop sucking, tennis shoe sporting Trance fan will get a drink from me. The codeword is "FUCK THEM". I'm serious!

Well, I have no way to prove it. I don't have my grades laying around from 8 years ago.

But I did get a 98 in it. I think. I'm about 95% sure. Or maybe it was a 96. Oh well, I got an A in it and the grading scale where I went (in Florida) was 94-100 A, 85-93.9 B, 75-84.9 C, 65-74.9D.

Unless you go by my CHEM class which was a full 20 point grading scale. Except for D. D was only 30-40. I got a B in that class. :-\

PS. I actually did good in school. I actually did my work, studied, etc. I attended an honors magnet school specializing in Engineering, Science, and Technology. I took most of my first year college courses while in high school. I actually TAUGHT summer school at the age of 15. Was fully employed by the school system for the summer and got paid. Got class credit, too. So I'm not some bum off the street just trying to talk shit. I worked my way to get where I am now, just like you. I ditched everything (college, stable job, etc) and everyone I knew in Florida to move to San Francisco in 1999 at the age of 20 just to live a dream of trying something wild and insane (as in move to a new city where I basically don't know anyone and trying to find a job with no promises of work). And my hard work has paid off. Fortunately, my resume at 20 read better than most 30 year olds in video production and design. Thank you.

I accidentally deleted my original reply to this segment, so I will just say that if you understood how bookings occur, you would know the venue (size), location, and night of week are all factors in booking costs for DJs. And if they needed $100 per person, they would have started the ticket prices a lot higher or it would have gotten more expensive a lot faster. How high did it get for Deep Dish? Cause them together is probably more than Armin by himself.

Because if all the clubs I've been to in SoCal (and up here for a large part) where this is the clientel is any indication, then you are living in some oddball world. Beause they rarely exist. What does being well dressed have to do with being responsible? Or even successful. A huge chunk of the peeps I know who are regulards in clubs actually make good bank.

I am not talking about well-dressed people. Or rich people. I am talking about elitists. You can be well-dressed, make good money, etc and not be elitist.

And is it me, or is someone in here getting upset that someone else is hating on the elitist crowd? All I have to say to that is "WOW." Seriously. This is all just my opinion. Get a grip. For Christ's sake.

Now that would be freaking cool of Orange Vibe @ which point I would have to recant my rant, because shit $100 for 2 shows is an awesome deal!!! It would make sense that Orange Vibe might do that considering the SD scene is still developing and not as many people in SD would know who Danny Howells is as in LA, so there are probably quite a few unsold tickets available.

Most "whores" are fake. I prefer the gentle curved, classy, educated, young female that can have a conversation about complex topics rather than how "amazing they feel when they are around me because they feel God running through their vanes" (Note, after two tabs of E). And if this venue can bring them out to events with the music that I love, HEY, I think we're onto something.

Down the road, I hope these people bring real talent like Eddie Amador, Danny Tenaglia, Paolo Mojo, Sultan, Paul Woolford, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Lawler, Hernan Cattaneo....and if they do, I don't think they'll be charging more than $35 - $50 per ticket.

We're all in this for the same cause! The music opens your mind. It feeds your soul.... and makes you realize how alive you really are.

I hope to see all of you there. Drinks for everyone if I can recognize you somehow. And, I'll put some pressure on some peeps to make sure Orange Vibe does give all patrons free tickets to see Danny Howells in SD on Friday night. Hell if they don't do it, I'll do it! Danny is by far in my top 5 of favorite DJ's.

P.S. Deep Dish on April 13th was Sharam only, so it wasn't even nearly as expensive as Armin would probably be charging.
