they take her outside the club for an hour (snowing at that time and -10 Celsius) because she was sick. cause: toooo much drugs and alcohol...
she started to play but she barely could stand in front of the decks and she mixed like shit...i was very dissapointed...
anyway i heard that many DJs use drugs, in front with Picotto...so, what can i say more?

not nessecarily, but different drugs increase perception in taste, smell, touch, vision, hearing and can all be used creatively, if it wasn't for the strong relation that there is with drugs and music, whatever type it may be, we wouldnt have had some of the incredible music that has been created..

my friend in work is a heavy jazz fan, stuff like ronnie jordan and wez montgomery who play acid jazz and its some well funky shit man, but these people back 50+ years ago were mainly on heroin, opium etc.. and went past the point of being smacked out and began to use it as inspiration.

thats my 2 cents

You dont have to been a genius to see that most of the people in a club are on drugs. If a Dj has taken drugs he understands his audience more.

Drugs expand the mind simple as, they allow you to think and do things that you wouldnt normally.

Everyone has taken drugs. The problem society has is using drugs for recreation.

Posted by chris_norris on Apr-11-2003 16:06:

DJ's to me would seem the most likely people in the scene to take drugs. It seems logical - they work in scene were a lot of people take drugs and they have a lot of money to spend on drugs. Obviously some people don't like taking drusg so they are omitted from this rule But I would expect that quite a large proportion do or have done.

hey remember the beatles? they were so fucked they even let ringo sing a song.

Posted by rowzbay on Apr-11-2003 18:10:

In order to provide a good show for those that take drugs at clubs and/or listen to this music you must understand how they feel when they're doing this. certain music wouldn't be written without the help of drugs, but then again i bet some music is held back because of exessive drug use. If you really want to understand your crowd then you need to listen to your own music in every possible way. if your music only sounds good on drugs then that's your audience, if your music sounds good for drug users and straight people then you're doing really well, and if only sounds good to straight people then you might be missing people that find their own way to have a good time through drugs.

read some song names and see how drug influenced they are. some songs are so crazy that they have to be made for drug use, you might not understand how good the song is until you listen to it on a drug, then from then on you can enjoy it better, even when not on drugs. but if you need drugs to make a song sound good then you're not listening to the right kind of music. if you're using drugs to enhance your experience or let out stress then that is a different situation.

dj's don't get checked for drugs at the door

One thing people have to remember is that this industry grew up hand in hand with the use of ecstacy. With all these drugs flying about infront of a dj, it's just a matter of time before it goes up his nose

Posted by Orko on Apr-12-2003 00:26:

anyone know abou the chemical brothers? they come out with some far out shit.

smoking a j, and then listening to them is perfect!

anyways, someone once mentioned that there was picture of Sasha with bunch of people where he looked so f.cked up... does anyone have it?

I believe this is the picture you are after. Photo taken by Mwah from www.inthemix.com.au

At least two of the people in that photo, back left and front middle (Chris Fraser), were the promoters of the event in question (Twisted)

That was an awesome night, highlights include sitting down next to Sasha at the after party (both of us trashed) and asking him if he enjoyed the track playing. His answer "I better, it's my track" (Belfunk); The infamous Sasha walking out into the 11am sunlight to a waiting taxi and in a Wizard of Oz wicked witch voice saying "I'm mellllting". The 8 pills crushed and snorted rumour is pretty close to the truth as I know the people involved. My opinion on the matter is people take drugs everyday, some of them are not legal cause the authorities can't make money out of them. Millions of Americans take prozac everyday, and it has a similar though milder and longer lasting effect to MDMA. However drug companies can't make money out of it cause enough people know how to make it that they wouldn't be able to profit. A recent law thesis of a student at the Australian National Uni ( http://law.anu.edu.au/StaffUploads/...20THE%20LAW.pdf ) gives an interesting overview of the stuff going on in my state (but similar reasoning would apply most other places). It also provides a little more on the history of it.
A nice little statistic for you guys, in 3 years (IIRC 1997 to 2000)there were 81 deaths attributed to ecstacy use in the UK, and the majority of those were also with other drugs in the system.

quote:
http://bmj.com/cgi/reprint/326/7380/80.pdf

... snip ...

The rate of deaths related to taking ecstasy in people
aged 15 - 24 during 1995 and 1996 in England was 18
and between 1995 and 1997 in Scotland was 11.
The risk of using ecstasy varies between one death
in 2000 first time users to one death in 50 000 first
time users.

... snip ...

We identified 81 deaths related to taking ecstasy.
Results of toxicological examination were made
available in 75 cases; MDMA accounted for 68 (91%),
MDA for 7 (9%), and opiates or opioids for 44 (59%) of
these cases. In 26 (38%) cases, one or more drugs
(mostly hypnotics or sedatives) had been prescribed to
the deceased patient (table).

... snip ...

Most people who died from taking ecstasy were white
employed men in their late 20s, known to services as
drug addicts, and died at home. Typically, the deceased
took several different (prescribed and non_prescribed)
drugs with ecstasy; the large number of people who
also took opiates seems surprising but confirms previ_
ous findings and may explain why a high proportion of
the victims were known to services.4 People may have
taken ecstasy with other drugs to modulate the
effectsecstasy had, at least, a facilitating role in
causing death. A small proportion of people (6/81;
7%) died after taking only ecstasya previously
doubted possibility.

81 deaths in the UK in 3 years ... If I remember rightly, the stat on cigarettes is 30 Million per year or so worldwide, and alcohol is around 12 Million. You do the math. Another report also contains the stats on how many people have tried drugs at various ages, but I cbf finding it now.

Anyway, my point is that don't make an opinion on something that you've based on the standard social propaganda that drugs are bad, when it's likely that your own socially acceptable vices present a hypocritical counter to any uninformed view you may have on the subject.

u know if took as much E as you would smoke cigarettes in a day u'll be dead the same day. let say u smokes a pack a day...20 fugs... why dont u take 20 E pills in a day we'll see how many people will die then. lets put it this way if u take cigarettes and pills and do both the same time u will not die of cigarettes even if u take 2 E pills everyweek..... 2 fugs a week is nothing. same with drinking. for every shot u drink take a E pills and u'll be done by the end of the night.

that is the comment of a complete dick.

No offence or nothing, but that is such an idiotic thing to say.

The fact is you take ecstacy at the weekend or whenever you go out. You only need 1 or 2 a night, obviously more for longer term users. whereas drink you have to keep going all night. once an ecstacy wears of it's usually time to go home any way. With fags and sometimes drink, you have to have them near enuff all the time, throughout the week.

Next time think before you say anything.......

Cigarettes and E are completely different
anyone that wants to 20 pills in a day is a twat, and deserves to die!
just for the record, in the past 12 years, more people have died in the UK falling asleep in the bath than people who have died taking ecstasy

Stupid Post of the Week Winner!

Every week I make an effort to point out the stupidest, most ignorant, laughable response. You win this week.

Where could you possibly compose that logic, and link it to anything reasonable.

Posted by Durafei on Apr-15-2003 01:58:

The reason why so many more people die from alcohol/cigaretes than from ecstasy is because ecstasy is taken by relatively few people. If the same number of people were doing e regularly as the number of people who smoke/drink regularly, the number of ecstasy related deaths would be somewhat(as in A LOT) bigger.

Besides, long term side effects from E are still uknown. Who knows maybe in 20 years all those people who've been doing ecstasy regularly will start dying.
